helipal Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 I recently had to replace my serial interface. And after replacement noticed both my venstar thermostats were unreadable (exclamation point next to them in my lighting). I have been unable to refresh, and after removing one, and attempting to relink, I get the following errors; 1) failed writing the high water mark [-200000/-1], 2) node not added, failed removing links [-200000/-9]. I've tried a number of variations, but suspect I must be missing a sequence. Can you please provide some help? Many thanks - Jim
Michel Kohanim Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Hi Jim, Is your new PLM a dual band PLM? If so, have you removed your other access points or otherwise have you made sure they are still bridging the phases? Also, is your new PLM located in the same location as the old one? helipal Posted December 13, 2011 Author Posted December 13, 2011 Thanks for this quick responce Michel, Yes, the new serial interface is duel mode (old was not), I have tried resoring / linking with and without my 2 access points installed. I have also connected the serial interface (via extension cord) to the very outlet the closest access point is plugged into (right below the thermostat). When I run a full restore, it places the green arrow next to all insteon devices except the thermostat. I have removed one of my 2 Venstars, and tried to linc as new, also with no success. Am I missing a sequence to linking these? I remember when I first got them. It took a number of tries to get the right sequence??? Thanks again for your support, and a great product!
Michel Kohanim Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Hi helipal, OK, I think we now have to move to some of the problems with RF PLM and specifically noise in the 900MHz range: Do you have any baby monitors? We have had at least 3 cases where the baby monitors were interfering with the RF signals coming from the PLM. And, in all cases, the thermostats exhibited the same exact problem as you are having right now. Also, if you have a good backup, please try factory resetting the PLM. In some cases - and if the PLM is bad - after you factory reset it and then go to Link Management | Start Linking, you will hear a long beep coming from the PLM. In case you do not hear the beep, then do a File | Restore Modem (PLM) to put back your links in the PLM. The backup is only needed as a safeguard in case something goes bad.
