apostolakisl Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 So I am sitting there and suddenly a light turns on by itself. I don't understand why. I know my wife and kids are upstairs turning insteon lights on/off. This particular light is the member of only one scene and clearly the scene wasn't turned on (there are lots of lights in that scene and none of the others turned on). The light is mentioned in a couple programs, but only to turn it off. I check the status of the light on ISY. It says it is "off" (it is on). I query and it says 69% (the normal on level). I check the links table, it matches. Since ISY didn't even think it should be on, ISY clearly did not turn it on. Plus there is no mention of the light in the log. What the heck? Any ideas here? And also, this is the first time I have seen this light turn on for ? reason. It has happened a few previous times but I just never investigated.
Michel Kohanim Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 apostolakisl, Do you have any KPL versions 2A or 2D? With kind regards, Michel
apostolakisl Posted December 16, 2011 Author Posted December 16, 2011 apostolakisl, Do you have any KPL versions 2A or 2D? With kind regards, Michel I have 3 kpl's and one of them is a 2d. The others are 2c.
Michel Kohanim Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Hi apostolakisl, I strongly recommend replacing the 2d especially if it has "ever" been linked to the light that is spontaneously turning on/off by itself. With kind regards, Michel
klundy Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Hi apostolakisl, I strongly recommend replacing the 2d especially if it has "ever" been linked to the light that is spontaneously turning on/off by itself. With kind regards, Michel Michel - why are you recommending replacing version 2d KPLs? I ask because I'm trying to find an intermittent communications issue. I have 1 v 2d KPL. I don't think it has ever had links to my problem devices. However, it has one button that comes on about twice per month. Only the button itself and not any devices linked to that button. However, I do believe it is physically on the same power circuit as my problem devices. Regards, Kevin
oberkc Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I, too, am interested in the answer to this question. I have at least two keypadlincs, version 2D (according to the admin console). While my system is pretty reliable, it is not 100%. I would hate to think I have been chasing ghosts all this time.
Michel Kohanim Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Hi Guys, The reason is that both KPLs 2A and 2D exhibited intermittent behavior such that linked devices would turn on/off by themselves especially in the presence of high INSTEON traffic. In some cases, the buttons themselves would intermittently turn on/off but the frequency was much lower than the linked devices. With kind regards, Michel
Teken Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Are the 2C KPL's affected by this strange behavior? I ask because I have one lone device which is controlling my hall way and various other lighting controls. Teken . . .
Michel Kohanim Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Hi Teken, No, not that I know of. With kind regards, Michel
