connorrc Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 I am not sure what changed, but now everytime I start the desktop software I get an error and the Insteon Finder window comes up.. I am running the following version for UI/Firmware... Firmware: V3.1.13 UI: v.3.1.12 ISY 99i/IR The errors I get are the Insteon Finder window comes up with My Lighting and I get "UPnP Cancellation Failed:SID not found [uuid]; Subscriber didn't reply to event:1 [64]"
LeeG Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 The wrong level of Admin Console is being invoked. The Firmware and UI must be the same. Either the Java cache was not cleared or the wrong URL is being used to invoke the 3.1.13 Admin Console. Don't know if that is causing the symptom but ISY Firmware and Admin Console level (UI) must be the same.
connorrc Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 Thanks, will try that... Do you know how I create a desktop shortcut for the newer version, one was created along the way somehow but has a lengthy cryptic line.... C:\Windows\System32\javaws.exe -localfile "C:\Users\HTPC\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\17\1fc0a0d1-146025ff"
LeeG Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Refer to the 3.1.13 announcement post. It lists all the URLs for 3.1.13. There is a later Beta, 3.1.15 I suggest upgrading to.
connorrc Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 I got that straight, cleared Java and it created new shortcuts.... still same error with Finder window coming up but also go an error communicating with Remotelinc2... if I query it, it works... so not sure why it gives an error at startup. May try removing and adding...
LeeG Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 The Query is not doing anything to an RF device. Put the RemoteLinc2 into linking mode, left click on the node and select Write Updates to Device.
connorrc Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 That fixed the Remotelinc2 errors ... but still getting the Insteon Finder window coming up along with the console...when I minimize things I find this...
Michel Kohanim Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Hello connorrc, This is normal behavior for the application version. If you don't like to use the application version, you can use the Applet version (which requires your browser to be on): http://your.isy.ip.address/admin OR http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/ With kind regards, Michel
connorrc Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 Thanks for the help, I am new to the product... I have been using the application version for about a month now and this just started... aside from the obvious, what's its function... I am assuming that it has to do with other issues I am now just uncovering, guessing it isn't getting the information when it queries and hence the finder comes up? A number of devices are now showing current incorrect information (9 min ramp rate for example vs. the 8.5 seconds I set it to). When I query the device it finds what I expect for settings. But even after I write to device, if I move to the next device and return, then the status is again back to 9 min ramp rate, etc... I also just got this error message.. I haven't changed much and backed up often, so tried earlier settings as well... same issue.. seems to be with communicating with some devices. Could I have messed up the linking and need to clear devices and relink? Or is it in the application installation, and do I need clear out files/setting and re-install?
connorrc Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 Forgot one last question... Do Insteon devices and ISY99i experience the same issues with noise in power lines as x10 devices do? I ask becasue as I noted I am new to ISY and have been using it for over a month or so, and until now it has been working flawlessly... But I know that with X10, things can change as you plug different appliances in etc...
Michel Kohanim Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Hello connorrc, The ISY Finder has always been there. The function for ISY Finder is: 1. It lets you have an icon on your desktop and add as may ISYs that are NOT local to you to the list 2. It relieves you from having to download the applet from ISY when you are remote Not having correct status points only to two things: 1. There's a mismatch between the UI and the firmware. Please go to Help | About and make sure your UI version (it must exist) is equal to the Firmware version. If they are not, clear your Java cache and go to http://your.isy.ip/admin 2. You recently upgraded, changed, or reconfigured your firewall especially if it's AVAST or Kaspersky I do not have much experience with X10 so I will leave it to others in the community to respond. This said, from my experience, when INSTEON works, it works till something breaks such as a power supply becoming noisy, the device failing, etc. With kind regards, Michel
Brian H Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 I have gotten the same warning message from Java and just said NO to blocking it.
connorrc Posted December 29, 2011 Author Posted December 29, 2011 I am running the same UI/Firmware, and upgraded to 3.1.15/Cleared cache etc... Not sure I understand the explanation of the finder, am I suppose to close that window, leave it open? I did just ignore the Java warning message... I haven't changed my router/firewall settings, but I am having intermitant difficulties communicating via my android with conductor as well...
Michel Kohanim Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Hello connorrc, It's totally up to you what to do with the Finder as it has no bearing on the correct functioning of Admin Console. Basically, it's just a launcher. May I ask what firewall software you have? As far as conductor, do you have the problems locally or remotely? With kind regards, Michel
connorrc Posted December 29, 2011 Author Posted December 29, 2011 Hi, I have norton Internet Security, I removed the last device I added and also moved the interface module into another electric plug...at this point everything seems to be working again including conductor. It was also working really well both locally and remotely so have been very pleased .. Whatever was causing the communication issues seems to be remediated ... I will now go back and look at what I changed to see if I can determine specifically... Thanks for the assistance! Rob.
connorrc Posted December 29, 2011 Author Posted December 29, 2011 This is one of the last modules I installed... Any ideas why it's version number is different for the same type of device? Could this be an issue?
LeeG Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 The OutletLinc with v.00 was added selecting the OutletLinc Device Type in the pulldown. The other OutletLinc was added using Auto Discover. The device firmware is not read when the actual Device Type is selected.
