AlanF Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Would you consider adding a line on the weatherbug module to include direction of the sun? I want to close the proper blinds, based on the direction of sunlight, then re-open them when the sun has moved on. I realize this likely is not provided by the local weatherbug stations, but should be something that can be calculated, based on home location, date, and time of day. Thanks, Alan
Michel Kohanim Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Hello Alan, Would be delighted to but not only this information is not provided in WB but also the algorithms to calculate the sun location might not be that appropriate. We can figure out sun declination based on season and where you are but not the Sun's location. With kind regards, Michel
apostolakisl Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 It would be quite complex to figure out when the sun is shining in any window at any given moment in time in the future. Certainly the equations can be run but you also need to consider nearby structures, hills, your roof overhang, trees, and I'm sure other stuff. Plus it might be cloudy and you probably want the shades open in that case even if the sun would be shining in. I would suggest you consider using a photo cell to actually detect real sunshine and run that data into ISY. A cai webcontrol board would be able to deliver you that info or Insteon I/O link. Also if you have an Elk you could run it through that.
