WAIT Modifier

I have been working on getting my irrigation system all programmed using 2 EZFlora modules and this has been the only real challenge I have experienced since I bought my ISY a month ago. I went into some detail about this in my post about support for ELSE IF statements. I am trying to accommodate drastic changes in weather conditions and the effects they have on watering needs, hopefully without having to maintain numerous little programs.

One thing that would be useful would be a WAIT modifier. In addition to the normal WAIT time selections, I would envision an additional field that would add an integer variable (in minutes) to the defined WAIT time. So if you defined a variable called "wait_additional_mins", and that value was 10, you could select this variable as an additional parameter when setting up the WAIT time and 10 minutes would be added to that time.

My specific problem is that we have Santa Ana winds here. It can be overcast or even foggy all day and in the mid-60's. Then at sunset, the wind comes up and can blow at 50mph or higher, the temp will rise to 90F and the humidity will drop to 10% for 4-5 hours. It will completely dry out the soil. I would like to be able to increase the WAIT time according to the conditions and have the irrigation cycles run longer, depending on the actual conditions.

I am sure there would be other uses for this when you might want a WAIT to be either longer or shorter depending on some other condition, and the use of the variables feature seems like a natural way to do this.

Hi Brian,

Thanks so very much for the feedback.

We do have variable enhancements in our list of requirements so you could do something like:

wait $variable

Unfortunately I do not know when we'll get to implementing it as we are still grappling with the ripple effects of i2cs.

With kind regards,

Michel

I think that would work. Most of my irrigation zones have different WAIT times, but I guess I could do a second WAIT to add the additional minutes based on an integer variable.

I've tried but so far I can only assign a fixed #hours, minutes, seconds to the wait command, any idea when could this be implemented ? It would make the irrigation programing task much easier

I haven't checked the forum for awhile and thought I would inquire if there has been any further thought on this suggestion.

Thanks,
