I installed 2 Venstar 1700s yesterday and I'm getting a humidity reading from one of them on my ISY. It says my humidity has ranged between 85-87% in the last 12 hours. I have heard it is a false reading. If so how do I correct this?

See this link. It is old but I think it still applies to the 1700 where no humidity sensor exists.

The ones with the internal adapter maybe different.

I think that is true but I thought the 1700 was still using the external dongle.

They now have a T2491T1E one day programmable with integrated adapter.

 

Not sure if the T1700 integrated model has the jumpers Steve L pointed out but maybe a goo thing to look at.

I'll check this out when I get home from work. Yeah the 1700 I ordered has the insreon module inside the stat and not as an external add on.

The new T1700 equivalent (T2491T1E) that Brian discussed may have a jumper on the PCB to disable humidity readings.

I am getting Humidity messages from my T2491T1E. There are solder buttons marked for Humidity and No Humidity on the Printed Circuit Board (PCB). Looks like the No Humidity solder buttons need to be jumpered to stop the messages.

I do not have a jumper for humidity. I guess I'll have to solder the no humidity buttons together...is that correct?

Yes, I think so. It looks like the T2491T1E is a T1700 PCB with the dongle double sided taped to the base board.

How can a make sure before i do some soldering and void the warranty?

The solder spots are not accessible without taking it apart. Once the pieces are separated the thermostat is not functional. Don’t know of any way to verify without actually soldering.

I have used window defroster repair paint for temporary jumpers in the past. Paint it on and use an eraser to remove later.

 

Yes, it has a higher resistance than solder but over a short distance its usually close enough to a short to do the job. There is also a battery terminal coating that is copper rich. a small dab will jumper the pads and you can just wipe it off with a rag later.
