jmed999 Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Ever since the time change my clock goes to the wrong time...it's always an hour off. I resync it when I come home from work then the next day I notice it is back to 1 hour later. I have the daylight savings time checked. Should I unchecked it or leave it checked? Any other ideas on what could be causing this?
Brian H Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 I have mine checked and it looks correct to me.
jmed999 Posted November 8, 2012 Author Posted November 8, 2012 When I sync the ISY clock to my computer clock it goes to the correct time. Then at some point it resets itself to the old time before the time change. It throws everything off while I'm at work then I have to come home and resync it again.
Brian H Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 I have mine set to sync to the NTP Server ever 12 hours. I believe that requires the location be set correctly. I used a custom one only because there was no real close choice to my town. If you have the NTP server enabled. Does the time change if you do a Synchronize now?
jmed999 Posted November 8, 2012 Author Posted November 8, 2012 I have mine set to sync with the NTP server every 24 hours. When I do a sync now it corrects the time...I'll have to wait and see if it goes back to the incorrect time.
Michel Kohanim Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Hello jmed999, Two questions: 1. Do you have Daylight Saving Time checkbox checked? and, if so: 2. Are you in a region that honors DST? With kind regards, Michel
Michel Kohanim Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Hi jmed999, Thank you. Do you see an exclamation mark next to NTP Server? Would you please send me your Tools | Error Log to support@universal-devices.com ? With kind regards, Michel
bfish Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Michael, I am having very similar problems. And my settings seem to match what jmed describes. Also, once I make any changes to the time (under config in admin panel), then I can't do so again without re-booting the ISY. I get a "failed to respond" error. This all took effect since DST ceased here in PA. Thoughts? Thanks, Brad
jmed999 Posted November 13, 2012 Author Posted November 13, 2012 Mine is now working great with no issues. I do have the exclamation mark.
bfish Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Good to hear jmed is back up. I do NOT have an exclamation point. What do I need to do, please?
Xathros Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 bfish- On the configuration tab, what do you have set for a time server? Have your tried time.nist.gov ? jme999- On the configuration tab, what do you have set for DNS server? Have you tried 4.2.2.2 or 8.8.8.8 ? -Xathros
bfish Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 I tried that time server and get similar behavior. I have one shot at changing anything, then I have to re-boot the ISY before I can make any additional changes. At one point the red exclamation mark came up by the time server, but then went away. I made it through the start of Daylight Savings Time with no issues, but going back has been very challenging. Any ideas greatly appreciated!
Xathros Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 bfish- What location do you have selected? Or do you have a custom location set? -Xathros
Xathros Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Can you change that to one of the locations in the list. Something that comes near your area and test again. -Xathros
Michel Kohanim Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 bfish, When you click on the Daylight Saving Button, you MUST wait for the settings to take effect before doing anything else. It might take about 5 seconds and the busy dialog should go away. With kind regards, Michel
blueman2 Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Add me to the people having time issues with the ISY 99i. Started about a week or two ago. Clock on the ISY was 30 minutes ahead. I logged on and set it to my computer time and it corrected. But I then decided to update ISY to the pool.ntp.org and it once again went 30 minutes off! I reset my location (Pacific) and that finally fixed it. NTP now sets to right time. Somehow, my location info was causing the problem. The odd thing is that I am not aware of ANY location that is 30 minutes behind Pacific time!!! Also, I never changed it. Maybe something to do with DST change? Problem started right around that time. I hope this does not crop up again, as having the time set correctly is really critical to some of my programs. Running 3.3.3 on ISY 99i/IR (1030).
LeeG Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Do you know what the values were before setting to Pacific. There are locations in India that are x.5 off of GMT.
blueman2 Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Do you know what the values were before setting to Pacific. There are locations in India that are x.5 off of GMT. No, I did not think to check. Yes, there are some locals that are 30 minutes off. But I am not aware of any that are 30 minutes ahead of Pacific Time zone. That is why I was so surprised. I just hope it does not come back again!!
