994i vs 994iZ vs 994iZS for newbie

I am considering purchasing an ISY-994 and need some help understanding the difference in capabilities.

I understand that the 994iZ includes a zibee radio and utilizes a slot for this capability. I have also read rumors that zwave capability is in the works for the 994 and will require the use of this same slot. Will the 994iZ have the ability to replace the zigbee card for a zwave card? I understand in this case it would be just one or the other (not both), but have not been able to determine if this would work or not.

The 994iZS seems to have the ability to monitor electricity usage with your local energy provider (possibly). If I were to purchase the ZS, but not set it up with my energy provider's information, will it operate in identical fashion to the Z?

Thanks for the assistance.

Yes; you can swap the the Zigbee radio with a ZWave dongle.

No, completely different Zigbee profiles. In short, if you have not verified that your utility will allow you to join the HAN (Home Area Network), then ZS will be a waste of money.

Thanks for the assistance.
