nexus Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 A friend picked up a ISY994i/IR PRO INSTEON Compatible Automation Controller with Dual-Band PLM and has tried auto discovery and manual device setup with no success. Manual setup times out after 7 seconds and auto discover doesn't see anything (holding set button and load flashes). PLM is plugged directly into the wall (no power strip). He's tried moving the ISY/PLM and gets the same results. It sounds PLM related but what else can he try?
oberkc Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 What kind of device is your friend trying to discover? If it is a plug-in module, try plugging it into the same outlet as the PLM. While you have tried moving the PLM around, make sure to do your best to ensure it is not plugged into an outlet and circuit which powers a bunch of other electronic gadgets, power supplies, things like that. How many insteon devices (besides ISY/PLM) does your friend have? If more than one, can they be manually linked to each other? If so, this tends to suggest that the devices, themselves, are working. If you are on a clean circuit, have confidence that the modules, themselves, are good, tried communicating with a module and PLM on the same outlet, then I would reach the same conclusions as you: faulty PLM.

He has about 40 Insteon devices all setup and functioning (mostly keypadlinc's and switchlinc's). Manually linking to each other works fine. I'll get more information on how and where the PLM is plugged in.
Michel Kohanim Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Hi nexus, Also, please go to Tools | Diagnostics | PLM Status/Info and make sure you are NOT in safe mode (it must show the PLM firmware version + "connected"). With kind regards, Michel
