Can the ISY receive emails & respond to them?

Hi,

I was curious, my alarm system gives me the option of getting email notifications when certain things open or close. For example, in the entry way, there is a motion sensor, I can set it to send an email to an address with pretty much any sort of text.

It might be interesting that if the motion sensor goes off & sends an email to ISY@richtj99 with a subject of entry, that the ISY could turn on the entry light if its after 10pm.

So, can this be done? I was looking & only seem to see email settings for going out.

Thanks,

Rich

That is not possible. Sending emails is far easier than receiving them. There would also be a noticeable delay...using email like that would take several seconds to go through before the light came on.

If your alarm has programmable outputs, you can use them to signal an IO linc (probably would need an intervening relay) when the motion detector triggers.

You also could have your motion detector control a double pole relay with one pole going to your alarm and the other going to an IO linc.

But as mentioned, definitely no emails to ISY. Maybe with some fancy programming you could get a PC to receive your email and then post a REST command to ISY that turns the light on.

I dont have anything specific I want to do yet, I was curious if there was some way to do it when I am ready. Most of what i am interested in is notifications anyway & the alarm handles that already.
