I went to perform a backup today and at about the 40% mark, I got the following errors: "cannot create the zip file" and "could not retrieve file /conf/228c40.rec". Then I decided to reload java (it was one version old), so I loaded the newest version, cleared the java cache, and restarted the console - and got the same problem when I tried to do a backup again. I am running 4.3.26 on the latest version of safari. Any ideas what I should try next? Thanks, Bob

I've recently noticed some strange motion sensor behavior that I'd like to run by the experts here. Very basic MS/outlet setup and has been working for a few weeks now. The outlet in the scene has a lamp connected to it, the MS is wall mounted directly above the controlled outlet about 8 feet. Shortly after added another hard wired outlet on an exterior wall to control the some front yard Christmas decorations I notice the rapid LED blink on the MS. I understand this means the sensor's inability to reach another device in it's link table. The trouble is the MS is right above the device it is controlling. If I move the MS 10-15 feet the blinking seems to stop. Coul…

  3. I have a pair of simple programs I use to control the lights in my front hall and this has worked great for years but now suddenly they won't time out and shut off. The programs are very simple where the first one turns the light on when motion is detected: If Status '1stMid / FrontHall:Sensor' is Off Then Set Scene '1stMid / Scene:FHallMotion' On Else -No Actions- And the second one waits for the timeout period and shuts the light off unless I have turned on a keypad button that I use to lock the lights on: If Status '1stMid / FrontHall:Sensor' is Off And Status '1stMid / LivRm:KpdD' is Off Then Wait 30 seconds Set Scene '1st…

This is not really a 994 question, but I am planning on replacing my old 26 with a 994 soon. Will newer devices work on the 26 or just the devices in the 'devices' dropdown in link management? Many of those are no longer available. Thanks!

  5. Started by vbPhil,

I've just upgraded my 994i to the 4.3.26 version and I think Java also was recently updated to v8 update 65. I notice now when I run the Admin Console that a window opens up with the caption ISY Finder and then a 2nd window opens with the Admin console. What is the ISY Finder window? Should it stay open or can I close it? -thanks, -phil

  6. This is a guide on how to receive, send, log, spoof, etc. all Insteon RF traffic in your house. First, let me say that I can’t take credit for any of this. All the credit goes to Peter Shipley (evilpete) who did the research on the Insteon wireless protocol for his defcon presentation and then graciously released documentation and his code. This was discussed originally in this thread: http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/16596-this-could-be-bad/. You can also see the slides from his defcon presentation here: https://github.com/evilpete/insteonrf/blob/master/Doc/insteon_defcon23.pdf There are obviously security implications to this, but at the moment I’m more int…

I need to know how to correctly use this option in the "Context Menu." I'm replacing a Switchlinc whose toggle off isn't working and going to use it elsewhere where I don't need a local toggle. My thought is I can install the new Switchlinc in place without removing the dis-functional Switch from ISY, Link the new switch and then use "Replace" to change all links?

  8. Have an ICON Dimmer 2876DB that has worked flawlessly for quite some time. I turned off the power to install a phase coupler and since turning the power back on this device fails to communicate with my ISY. I've tried multiple restores and write updates to device to no avail. The device either shows up with a red ! or the 1011 icon despite multiple restore devices/write update commands. I even deleted it from ISY and factory reset and when I went to readd it still having the same issues. Event log while adding or writing updates looks ok except for this, wondering if anyone knows what this means? Mon 11/30/2015 11:13:43 PM : [1A 28 12 1 ] Link 0 :…

Hi Guys, I wrote a little program to monitor my front garage lights. They get left on all the time. There are two switched that I have added to a scene and made both controllers. But since the ISY can't seem to monitor the status of a scene I had it monitor the two individual switches. If the garage lights come on I just want them to turn off after 10 minutes. What am I doing wrong below? Garage Front Light Check - [ID 0014][Parent 0021][Run At Startup] If ( Control 'Garage - Front - 1' is switched On Or Control 'Garage - Front - 2' is switched On ) And ( Status 'Garage - Front - 1' is not Off …

  12. Today, when I disarmed my ELK, It alerten me that Zone 147 (Loft Smoke Detector) was in a trouble state due to low battery. I was surprised that the program I have on the ISY - which should have alreted me to the trouble Status - hadn't executed. I logged in to the ISY; it shows "Normal" status for all zones. Should I not expect the following program to run in this instance? If Elk Zone 'Loft Fire' is Trouble Then Resource ELK_Audio_Loft_Smoke_Trouble <?xml version="1.0" ?><triggers><d2d><trigger><id>153</id><name>Loft Smoke Trouble</name><parent>131</parent><if><and />…

Hello- Sorry if missed this somewhere, but are there different user roles for accessing the ISY? I would like to allow the family to turn scenes and devices (well, realy not devices) on and off without having to log into the HTML interface or giving them the admin username and password. I found the the Configuration > System > System > HTML Role. I read the documentation on this but suspect this is what can be controlled by the admin from the HTML interface. I am currently running a 994i under 4.2.18 using the UDAjax web interface. Thank you, Craig.

I'm trying install two SwitchLink Dimmers 2477D into an existing 3-way light circuit. The 4 gang electrical box where the line is connected has two cables coming into it for the 3-way circuit. One cable has a white and black wire the other cable has white, black and red wires in it. The line was connected to a bundle of black wires in the four gang box. The red wire from the 3 wire cable was connected to the black wire in the 2 wire cable. White wire from the 2 wire cable was connected to the bundled white wires in the four gang box. The black and white wires from the 3 wire cable were connected to the switch. The other switch box has a 3 wire cable with red, bla…

  15. I just started seeing this strange problem in the last few days and was curious if others have seen the same thing. Essentially I have a program that sends me a custom email alert indicating the XMAS tree is lit and what the power readings are at that time. This first alert simply confirms the tree is lit and what the energy demands are as you will see in the following attachment. Once the program has been completed and the lights turned off I simply use the *Default* option as an email. In the past this *Default* option would just confirm the action was completed and included a time stamp etc. Now, I am receiving random data that is unrelated to that scene /…

  16. I have buttons A through D set to toggle on mode and would like them to stay lit/always on. I tried setting the on level to 7 and off level to 15. I'm not sure what that settings is for but it did not work. Is there another way to set the led to always on for these buttons? Thank you Steve

  17. I utilize security cameras to monitor people coming and going around my property. The cameras are high quality and quite sophisticated, and capable of creating various forms of alerts. I am interested in finding a way when one of the cameras detects motion and it is after dark, for it to cause certain of my ISY controlled Insteon lights to come on. It is my understanding that the cameras can cause an html message to be sent across a network. Would this work? Is there a more efficient way to accomplish this goal?

I have a pretty extensive insteon network that for the most part over the past several years has worked fine until recently about a few mos ago when I purchased some more devices (the usual, KPLs, lamplincs, etc). Also, no new electronic devices plugged in. All my major electronic "noisemakers" are behind filterlincs. Only recently have a I noticed what I suspect to be poor communication issues. I have 5 or 6 range extenders, a wired-in bridge at the panel, and the filters I mentioned above in an effort to maintain solid communications. However, only recently have I had issues where programs that call for certain things to happen don't run. Some examples are …

Is it possible to run programs using the REST from a windows batch file? I've got Tasker working on my Android phone using REST to run several programs so I know the basic setup for it, but I don't know how to do it from a batch file on Windows 7 64-bit. If it's possible could someone point me in the right direction or is it pretty complicated?

So I took a run of the mill 115Vac powered Motion Sensor and Insteon 2442-222 Micro Dimmer. I have yet to ring out all the programming issues or have a reliable Motion Light so I am wondering if someone has already tried this and/or can point me in the right direction. I wired the Motion Sensor control output (red wire) to the #1 sense input (yellow wire) for a Micro Dimmer and the Micro Dimmer output powers the light. I added the Micro Dimmer to my ISY and set the option configuration to "Momentary (Latch-unchecked) and Single Line (checked). I set the Motion Sensor output timer to the minimum (5 seconds) for the momentary input for the #1 sense ON input. Q…

I'm trying to figure out how to set this up and I can't seem to get it to work. I read on the isyportal beta thread that you have to use the isyportal login and the non-encoded url but I can't seem to get that to work. Anyone have a guide?

New MacBook. I run Bootcamp. I just now got the Java app to work (Thanks Michel). Now that I can use the interface, it runs full-screen, but is so small you can hardly read it. This problem isn't solely within the ISY interface, it is with many Windows products - running in a basically Apple world. Has anyone found a way to get the UI to run full size? If there is, I'm sure that the rest of the Windows items will follow suit...

I have added a second Insteon Garage Door Control & Status Kit. The status of the sensor is not updating on the ISY unless I manually query that device. I have looked at my other Garage Door Kit and all settings appear the same. I have my ISY send a notification if the door opens so i need the status to update instantly. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Zach

Can this wireless lock from Schlage be controlled with a isy994i? It says something about Nexia Home Intelligence. Would i need an add on module? Thanks! Steve

  25. Started by Kentinada,

I searched this forum for information on this question and there are so many threads out there on thermostats, I'm hoping you'll humor one more. I have a 4 zone heating/cooling system in my home with simple programmable thermostats. I have an ISY994i and many INSTEON devices I control. I'd like to add thermostats to that list. Is the INSTEON 2441TH the way to go? Is NEST compatible with the ISY994i? Are there better options than INSTEON? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
