I have a 6-button keypadlinc. It is not connected to a load and I am using all 6 buttons in connection with ISY scenes. The "On" button turns on SceneX (all lights). The "Off" button turns off SceneX. Works fine. Button "A" is assigned to turn On/Off SceneA (kitchen lights only, that also happen to be included in SceneX). The button is set to toggle mode. It controls SceneA fine. I am aware of threads here complaining about the outrageous new pricing structure for these buttons. I have posted a suggestion for a new product at http://forum.insteon.com/forum/main-category/new-insteon-device-wish-list offering KPLs with custom etched keys included. This will expose the cost of custom etched buttons in the initial purchasing decision. I encourage you to "like" my idea or, alternatively, propose your own.

I have a 994i that I intend to upgrade with a Zwave module. However, I'd like to also monitor power using Brultech GEM, which is apparently only really available if you have the Z model... Do I need a second ISY? If so, how would i do that? If there's a way to add Brultech and use the power module with the equipment I already have, is there a way to do that? My ISY994i has been running Insteon controllers without problem and suddenly today I get the error 'Unable to communicate with' all of the devices. I tried re-booting the ISY. The console indicates that the PLM is 'connected'. I tried deleting a couple of the devices and tried to link again and it does not find them. I am not sure how to trouble-shoot this.

Yesterday programs in my ISY stopped running. Today I started troubleshooting (always on a Friday afternoon, with a 3 day weekend looming) and found that I cannot connect to the device over the LAN. If I try the ISY994 Dashboard, the ISYadmin.jnlp or the ISY994 Administrative Console, they all bring up the ISY Finder : Not Found dialog. Clicking refresh searches, but does not find. I have a program that sends a notification when either of two locks are unlocked. For one of these locks (a schlage FE599 Door Lock) I also get a lock notification. This doesn't happen for the Kwikset Door Lock deadbolt. The behavior I expect is to only get the unlock notification for both locks and never a lock notification. Hello, I recently purchased a mini-remote from Smarthome (brand new) 4 keypad switch. Try as I might, under firmware 4.3.6, attempting to add it as a "remotelinc 2" the device continually comes back as "unsupported" no matter what I call it, auto-discover, different device types, whatever. It simply won't link. My first thought was firmware upgrade, but upgrade to 5.01 CONSISTENTLY fails at 13 percent (over "editors.xml" I believe) with the following two errors: "Upgrade Failed: Failed uploading file (reported written size is invalid)" and "Socket Timeout Error." Have several programs that fade down (fade down to 0%) instead of turning off, but was wondering if there is any way, using a program, to fade up to a certain brightness level? Obviously you can use "fade up" to go to 100%, but wanted to know if specific levels were possible with "fade up". Thanks!

All, Have been using the ISY for a year or so (currently on version 4.2.18) a few days ago I made some modifications to a program and now I am getting constant requests to authenticate, when I do it comes back but sometimes the admin console closes (load programs status bar appears then admin console closes). I also noticed that the data for the climate module is not there any longer. Any help appreciated.

I use Mobilinc with my Iphone and need to go to to 4.2.30 so I can upgrade my network security. Knowing just enough to be dangerous, and wanting to have a good install, I decided to clear my Java cache. You guessed it. I blew away my ISY desktop icon. Where do I go from here? I started out with an X10 system including a phase coupler. I slowly upgraded to original Insteon using 5+ boosters (one set specifically at my dryer as a phase-coupler). I then converted around 40 of my 50 or so switches to dual-band with the remaining switches single-band. There are no more x10. I am not having a problem now but I am wondering if I should leave all the boosters plugged in. Do you think it helps or hurts (if there is any sort of failure in the device) my network? I could probably unplug a few and run some tests but I am curious as to the general consensus on this. Thx.

So I got the Insteon garage door opener kit. The 2450 device is able to be detected only in certain outlets of my house. When I move the device into the garage it seems to not be detected at all. There is a GFI in the garage that seems to control only 3 of the 4 outlets. The 4th outlet being the garage door opener outlet. When I test the GFI all the wall outlets are off but the outlet in the ceiling for the garage door opener still works. Can anyone provide more insight as to why it will not link?

After migrating to an ISY-994i from an ISY-99i backup, it seems the mail settings weren't retained from my backup. I'm curious to know which SMTP server the ISY-994i uses if the default settings is checked. Thanks, Chuck

I just installed an Insteon 2663-222 On/Off outlet and it's working fantastic. That said, I'm curious what the default state is after a power failure as I've got my DVR equipment plugged into this outlet and would hate to think that after a power failure I would lose my ability to record if the default state is off. I checked the manual, however I didn't see any mention of this. I guess I could kill the circuit breaker and check it that way, but hate to disrupt all of my equipment if I can help it. Anyone know for certain?

A friend needed older lamplincs as he still uses some x-10. Newer lamplincs do not support X-10. So I swapped him for 2 of my older, slightly used lamplincs. I thought, oh this is easy, I've replaced with before. WRONG! I plugged in the first new module and used replace with. All linked devices are updated except for the other "new" one in the group. Obviously (now, duh) the device it is trying to "replace with" is no longer there. Likewise for the other new lamplinc. Now both have an exclamation point next to them. And cannot resolve the links. Any way to resolve this? Should I go get one of them back and plug it back in to resolve this? He hasn't used th…

I bought some fanlincs for the patio with a KPL for control. I thought there was a way to control fan speed using one button to toggle through the speeds but I can't seem to find any info on how to do this. Is this possible?

I got up today and all my lamps were still on and on the ISY it was flashing the red Err light, only that light nothing else. Couldn't access it by the admin console either so pulled the power and it came back on right away. Error log shows nothing, just shows the below so bit nervous now. Any idea what would cause that out of the blue? Hello. I just upgraded from an ISY-99i to an ISY-994i and everything is working great. That said, I'm a MobiLinc user and wondered if I need to create a certificate on the new 994i? I also want to be sure I'm secure in the event I need to access my ISY remotely via https. Is the default certificate adequate or should I create a self signed one? Thanks so much, Chuck

I am in the process of reprogramming the buttons on two tabletop KPLs. All of a sudden, one of them started showing the 1011 symbol, so I tried to relink, then tried a "restore device" and at some point, I got the exclamation point. I tried pulling the air gap ,pulling the plug, restarting the 994, but the ! Remains. The funny thing is that it appears that the switch is working (at least I haven't found what isn't working yet on it.) So what does it mean and is there a way to clear it short of buying another $70 switch.

I have been using the 994 for 18 months and I have only done very basic programming with it. I am starting to get more devices and want to move it up to the next level. I have never updated the firmware, so I figured that is the best pace to start, I am currently using 4.2.7 and UI 4.2.30 When I try to backup I get the following error; Unable to Create ZIP File. Let's say you have a KPL with button A being assigned to Bob's Lamp and button B assigned to Chris's lamp. And you decide for whatever reason, that you want to reverse them so that button A is Chris's lamp and button B is Bob's lamp. Both buttons are in scenes and both buttons are in programs. The brute force method would be to rename button A to some non-used name, then rename button B to Bob's lamp and then rename button A to Chris's lamp. But this 1) takes a long time and still requires as a minimum, examination of the associated scenes and programs and perhaps some rework of each. Is there an easier way to do this? Thanks, Bob

I am reconfiguring a motion sensor to eliminate a program and hopefully all on events. What I want to happen is if you go into the laundry room, any time of day, the lights turn on. They should turn off if no motion is sensed for 10 minutes. Any motion should reset the 10 minutes. The MS is set as a controller of the laundry room lights scene. 1. Can you explain the time out. I suspect this means that after the 10 minute time out the lights will turn off. 2. What about sensing mode, do I want this checked or unchecked. If it is checked I think the every time the MS detects motion the time out is reset. If it is unchecked I think the lights will turn off in 10 minute…

I am unable to get a KeyPad Linc LED to reflect the status of a scene even though the UD Administrative Console says the LED is on. Would love some help on why I can't get the LED lit with the scene! I've tried turning the scene on from MobilLinc Pro on my phone and by flipping the dimmer switch directly to no avail. Hi Every one I have been trying to get a simple night light program to work. when the light is switched on after 12AM and before 5AM the same day go to 30 percent. it does do that but goes past the set point a little then back to where I want it.
