I am new to this forum. I have several Insteon products in my house being controlled by an ISY994i. I was wondering if anyone out there had successfully programed or knew how to program an Insteon motion sensor to turn on different lights depending on the time of day. This is my scenario. I have three different lighting scenes in my kitchen all controlled by Insteon switches. Daytime lighting, evening lighting and night lights. Using an Insteon motion sensor, from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, sense motion and turn on the Daytime Lights only. Then from 6:00 PM to Sunset sense motion and turn on the Evening lights only. When late night occurs, sense motion and only turn on …

Has anyone successfully been able to complete the 4 tap beacon test with this 2635-222 On/Off Module? Performing the 4 tap beacon tests results in nothing happening? The flow chart that is indicated in the full users manual makes no sense to me. Anyone who has one can you describe in detail how this is completed.

Looking for the ability to monitor, open, close, the garage door motor I just installed. It is the elite 8500 model. It has the MyQ system built in. So I can use the liftmaster system to open and close it, and monitor but it is just another system for me to look over. Would rather have it all setup through the ISY. Look forward to any feedback! DTT

I do apologize if I am asking a dumb question but I would like to know what is exactly the significance of these "3 hops" I know that every device between the ISY and the target device equals 1 hop and my question is - what happens when I need to have a device which would be 3 or more hops away? My house has quite a big surface spread on 3 levels and since I can't place the ISY dead in the center of everything, I will have situations where some devices will be quite distant. What will happen then? - can I enroll a device which is more then 3 hops away? - supposing I can have the device closer just to enroll it then move it away at it's designated place - will it wo…

All, I followed the notes on how to get remote access to my ISY, found the correct router and completing port forwarding as noted however I cannot gain access. Any idea ?. another note, when I run the port test (port forward network utility), it says it is not open.

I'm totally stuck. Long time ISY user (ISY 994irPRO f/w v4.2.30). I have dozens of notifications set up -- using Gmail SMTP/TLS -- which have been happily running for a few years. We changed Cdn ISPs (from Rogers to Teksavvy, both over cable) on June 23 and suddenly notifications went dead. Test messages elicit error messages in the form: "Mail Server DNS Error / [[sMTP_ERRORS-smtp.gmail.com]]" For timeouts below 10,000, I'm also seeing: "TCP client DNS error / [api.areisapi.com] My initial thought was the ISP was the culprit but I've been back and forth with them trying different DNS targets without change. Then it da…

I have 3 way lights in my house, like those you would find at the top and bottom of a staiwell. I replaced them with insteon dimmers. Each is a controller and a responder to each other. They act as the 3 way swiches they replaced. I have a scene called "entry light" that is used to control both switches/devices. I would like to create a scene to turn off all the lights downstairs. When I tried to put the 3 way configured switches into the all of scene. I would not do it. It says that 30.BA.D4. is already a controller for 33.B6.A8.1, would you like to make it a responder (NO)? Aslo says It says that 33.B6.A8.1 is already a controller for 30.BA.D4.1, would you …

Hi, I have no lights on my ISY 994i. The power adapter has the LED that indicates that it is on, but the ISY shows no lights. I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in , but no dice. Any ideas?

Is there a way to tell if the PLM is getting power? Does the PLM have an indicator light? I know the plug it's plugged into has power. I have unplugged both units and was sure to power up the PLM first and then the Isy944i. We did have a power outage recently. I am not sure if this could have been my the start of the issue.

I have read that it is preferred to use scenes instead of controlling devices directly. Does the same apply to programs? If I wanted to set up a demo scene that does a light dance should they all be scenes even if i have to make one a new scene with every device in it or can i just call the devices in the insteon program options. Thanks

Only one light in my house has been having issues - my front porch light. Starting about 2 weeks ago it starts flickering off and on continuously. If I force it off, it goes off, but may come back on and start doing this again (not flickering, i mean literally off, on, off, on). I opened the event viewer and 1 & 3 and nothing is being sent while this is happening. I do have a camera that calls the REST API to turn it on when motion is detected, but the camera is not detecting motion. I also stopped the service that should be calling this and so it should stop, but it doesn't. Also I would expect to see something in the event viewer? I am at a loss - an…

I can't seem to get my new Kwikset 910 to pair. I follow the instructions but the ISY never detects another zwave device. I also have no other zwaves so I have no idea if it is the lock or the ISY. Any ideas?

I'm a new user. I've created programs to control my exterior lights. They worked great for last week. However, last night we had lighting & rain storm in the evening and the programs failed to shut off the lights. The off programs ran & ISY changed the device status to off which was incorrect. A few minutes later I manually turned the scene/devices off. see attached pdf of log file. Front Lights ON - [iD 0005][Parent 0004] If Time is Sunset + 20 minutes Then Set Scene 'Front Low Volt Lights' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Front Lights OFF - [iD 0006][Parent 0004] If Time is Sunset + 1 hour and …

When Event Viewer is set to display level '3 Device communications events', the Wiki indicates that the 4th column is titled 'Bracketd Insteon Address' . Is that the best description for the values displayed? When I do a 'Run Then' and turn off my Rear Lights program I get command-like phrases not address in that column. see attached .pdf What does '[iNST-TX-I1]' mean? Is that ISY Transmitting or it the PLM? What does INST-ACK mean? Is that a device acknowledging receipt or is it the PLM? What does D2D Event mean? Is that a device reporting a Status change? Whats uom=0, prec=-1 mean? What's D2D-CMP 0013 mean? Please expand the 'Us…

When I hooked up my ISY, it got its IP address from my ISP, NOT my router. In spite of not having a local DNS, I can get to the ISY by name, "http://isy.universal-devices.com/99i/".I need to do this for another server that will be talking to the ISY but can't figure out how they did it. In my research, none of the solutions fit the environment that I'm running in. (Apple Airport Extreme in bridge mode to my ISP DHCP server.) Any idea how the ISY does this?

I'd like to make a program that monitors the roll up garage door (io linc) and the entry door into the house (Elk), then turn on a light so I never have to come home to a dark house. Once I get the basics, I'll add sunrise/sunset so it only activates at night. Couple problems. I'd like the Garage Door Sensor (roll-up) to trigger watching that the Elk Zone 'Garage Door' (garage into house). The way this is written, both need to be true, but I could walk into the garage from outside, close the big door behind me and not trigger a 'True' state. Also, I do not want to turn on a light because an occupant opens the door to a garage. So, both doors need open to run the …

I am trying to create programs that activate when I leave my home. Mobilinc has nice support for this in that it creates a variable for my phone on the ISY that changes when I leave. However I am finding that my program that evaluates the state of that variable runs constantly. The result is that my program does exactly what I want (turn off certain lights) when I leave, but if someone still in the house turn them on, or I do remotely, they get shut back off since the variable state on the ISY still shows that I am not home. Is there a way to have the program only execute upon leaving the house and not the entire time I am gone? Brian

I am 325 miles away from an ISY that is not responding to either the Admin Console or MobiLinc. The area experienced power interruptions yesterday so that is the likely cause. What steps need to be taken to restore the ISY? I can ask someone to drop by and take such steps provided they are easy to follow. Second, will the PLM continue to execute existing programs until we return? My most serious problem is regaining the ability to turn the irrigation system on remotely using the ISY.

Both of our cars have the homelink buttons that are used to operate garage doors. I want to also program them to turn on lights. Something like this? Skylink 318TR And an Insteon or Zwave iolink would work? Then I would have an on/off signal I can use to trigger other events?

So I got me new ISY994 (first one didn't have a microsd) and got it setup and working, sorta. I only have 2 Insteon modules, both outdoor on/off modules used in the new back yard. These were working perfectly with the mini-remote for several weeks. After installing the ISY, I linked the 2 on/off modules and 2 things happened. 1. The control/status controls are very flaky. Quite often the ISY can not get the status of these modules or can not control them. I am guessing this is an Insteon communication issue, never used Insteon in this house, that I need to troubleshoot. Any suggestions? 2. I can no longer control the modules with the mini-remote. I think I…
