of late I cannot update/restore several of my switches. They system starts the restore device process and halfway through it loses contact with the device. I can immediately query the device successfully, just cant get it to go through the whole restore. I have not andded anything to the house and my system in general seems to have great communication. I am using 99i latest update. ANy thoughts?

I wondered what post people do to set a condition for a folder of programs. I tried making the program folder conditional on the value of an integer, but when I changed the variable to the value to run The programs it did not run

Did some forum searching and did not happen to pull up a thread that may have some of this in there, pointers appreciated. What I want is when one of the kids gets home, I want to get an email. (cannot get texts, don't have that service) so I am thinking of a if that runs from noon to 3 or so and any light being turned on or motion will send out the notification. I only want one, so need to set a variable too and put that in there. And only on weekdays, which means I need to find the date programs and variables and install that too. I am a new user to home automation, have completed isy setup as well as multiple single pole switclincs, outletlincs. Now attempting to install my first 3 way switch which controls outside entry lighting from 2 locations. (Front entry and garage.) Front entry switch wiring looks normal; red, white and black wires. Garage configuration has two black wires and one white. I should mention both locations are 3 gang boxes containing 2 other single pole switches that control interior foyer lights and garage lights. Please advise. I have answered most of my questions by reading this forum! It has been a great help!!

OK, I added an access point but it doesn't show up in ISY. I tried start linking and new Insteon device, netiher adds the device to the ISY Main screen... John

In a hobby room, I would like to control the lights when someone has left it for a while (I know buy a motion sensor). Anyone know of a wrapper program for the screen saver that would do a rest command to the ISY that would allow a program to know someone is still in the hobby room? second, to use the rest commands, do I need to buy the network module, or is that only needed if I want to have some network functions in my programs? alan

New Install, When I start Admin Console, I get 'ISY FINDER'. I click add and enter ISY address and it creates an icon on the desktop. After I close ans start again, it comes back again....not sure why? How do I get it to stop? Also, the icon it creates has a target a mile long with a reference to Java 6 and I have Java 7 installed.... Some things just don't look right. Thanks, John

I have two KeypadLincs, "Kitchen KPL" and "Upper Hall KPL". I have them both as controllers for a few scenes. Of those, one scene does not seem to work properly (called "Kitchen Bright", which is supposed to turn on all of my kitchen lights). It is set as button F, a non-toggle ON button, on both KPLs. I have an outletlinc used to control an outdoor water feature. It is the only weak point in my insteon network of ~50 devices. I contacted smarthome about it and they advised me to put a filter on it because the pump of the water feature is too noisy and causing communication issues. The filter is large and I can not mount it in the weatherproof enclosure where the outletlinc is. Any suggestions on how to fix the comm issues? or even a deep weatherproof enclosure that can hold all these devices? In the meanwhile I have been toggling power to the outletlinc to make it respond. I have an Actiontec DSL modem/router connected to a Belkin switch. I can see all the pc's in my network places but not the ISY (My lighting). Also the Belkin shows green lights for all the pc's connected to it but no light for the ISY. The ISY has the 2 blinking lights where the ethernet cable is plugged in. and the power adapter for the ISY also has a blinking light. My DSL modem/router has DHCP enabled. Hide icons for upnp devices is showing in my netork places. The white light on the PLM is lit. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Wayne

Here's a diagram of what I have set up: My issue is, if I turn on Scene1 from KPL1, of course, button D lights up. If I then turn on Scene2 from KPL2, then turn it off again from KPL2, button D on KPL1 is still lit up on KPL1. I also have a similar situation where I invoke Scene2 as a Fast On from SW2 or SW3 and turn it off again with a Fast Off. If Scene1 is already on, button D will still be lit when SW2/SW3 turns it off. What's the best way to fix this and keep the button lights in sync. Do I need a program to monitor these and adjust the lights accordingly? Thanks, Bill

How many times can we flash new programming into the ISY-99i/IR before we start approaching the limit? It just occurred to me as I merrily made a change, saved it, made a change, saved it, ad nauseum... IIRC, all flashable devices have some upper limit as to how many times you can update the flash memory before that memory starts getting flakey. Seems to me I often read 100,000 cycles as typical (so you could perform 100 re-flashes each day for about 2.7 years, or more likely 10 flashes per day on average for 27 years ). Mind you, perhaps current technology flash memory has better recovery after many cycles?? Rod

The logic used for programs is very different than what I'm used to and one of the things I don't quite understand is how these two conditions differ in order to implement each in the appropriate situation. Can someone try to explain this to me or point me somewhere that this has already been explained?

I'm looking for a thermostat, I have a 994iZ so I guess I have the ability to run an RCS thermostat as well as an insteon. Are there any trade offs going either way or can I just ignore protocol and choose whichever thermostat I like the most?

Michael, I am a very pleased new owner of a new ISY-994 (taking over duties from my former Indigo setup). One problem however: Each time I add new Insteon devices, the "Initializing System" dialog repeats over and over and over again -- never seems to stop. I've been able to quit the applet and be seemingly OK upon restart, but this clearly isn't expected behavior. Any thoughts? John Mesberg

Hello, I have a motion sensor that is in a scene with a dimmer. During the day, I'd like the light to come on at 100%. At night, I'd like it to come on at 50%. I have a program that changes the scenes (if day, 100%, else, 50%). but when the MS is triggered, day or night, it comes on at 100%. I assume this is happening because the MS is sending an ON signal which is interpreted as, "come on at 100%." I know I could do this in a program (if day and motion, 100%, else, 50%). Is there any way to do this using scenes rather than a program? With a scene, the light comes on with motion and is near instantaneous, but there's a slight delay when using a program. …

In one instance, I have a single Switchlinc Relay that is coming on by itself. In addition, I have another set of dimmers which are doing something similar. For the switch, I've noticed it coming on in the morning at sunrise, apparently by itself. When it does this, the ISY does not recognize that the switch is on (ISY interface says it's OFF). Also, I set a notification to send me an email when it does come on. As you can imagine, since the ISY doesn't know it's on (when it is), I get no notification.
