Help with water shut off valve needed
About your delay question...If a pipe breaks a completely open a main pipe can flow anywhere between 10 to 30 gallons per minute maybe more depending on pressure. Do you want to wait or shut off the water? Someone inconvenienced in the shower is much better than getting out the shop vac, IMHO. As far as shutting off the water when leaving, If you have proper sensor placement and you have tested your setup you should be fine. Think if you have visitors or you're on vacation and someone has to watch the place, are they going to know all of your specialized HA information? I use my Elk M1 to control the water shutoff that I have. I have a button on the main alarm keypad at the front door that flashes if the valve is activated and is closed. Once the water alarm is investigated and cleared, someone can simply hit the flashing button to open the valve again. The sensors that are tied in to the Elk are these: http://www.winland.com/products/WB200/wb200.html They are nice because you can have one main control box with up to 6 sensors per unit. I have 2 control boxes total with 2 or 3 sensors per unit in "key" water areas.

Garage Door not close for 30 minutes then email me
In the email subject or body you can insert a date and time variable from the option at the bottom.

Garage Door not close for 30 minutes then email me
Yes. More code memory. Support for current / newer Insteon Devices. Advantages....you'll have to decide if you need it yet or not. If you plan on buying newer devices you may need to upgrade.

Signal Analyzer
Agreed. Sometimes they can be a real hassle to track but persistence and a helper at the breaker box usually pays off.

Using Kwikset Zwave with the ISY
Well...Z-Wave is still in Beta.' If you are willing to take a chance then go for it. More than likely, it will work in some shape or form. You may need 1 or more repeaters, you may need an external antenna, you may need none of the above. YMMV as they say... If you want everything to be laid out perfectly right out of the box and absolutely have to have a perfect installation then maybe it's better to wait for the first non beta release. For what it's worth, I followed the forums a bit and followed the Wiki documentation and everything went perfectly with my door lock. My detached garage lock is not currently working possibly due to a range issue, I'm OK with that. There is still the keypad on the lock to get me in.

Is there a way to use an UPS with a PLM?
In reading this thread I just want to say that using Insteon for any critical notification like water, smoke, fire, panic, medical, etc, etc, is not a good idea. You really need a hardwired solution or a proper wireless supervised solution to reliably accomplish this task.

Double Authentication
I have also seen this recently, too. What is the cause or the fix without going to the web admin console?

Using an Insteon DIN On/Off Realay with a GFCI Breaker
Interesting. Are you not concerned about grounded neutral protection? Also, try plugging a load in to that circuit and see if it trips the GFCI on the load only. Here is some good reading: http://www.nema.org/Products/Documents/ ... tation.pdf

Using an Insteon DIN On/Off Realay with a GFCI Breaker
Are you saying that the GFI breaker trips after you moved the circuit neutral wire from the breaker to the neutral bus bar?

Insteon and Sonos with ISY-994i
Having just added a 7th zone to our Sonos setup, I may have to purchase the networking module and give this a try. Excellent write up!

Insteon's future?
As long as they don't let out QC nightmares as the have in the past for all of us end users to beta test you should be good. When asking a person about insteon, the longer they have been an insteon user, the higher the likelyhood that they will have bad things to say about insteon. The newer adopters don't seem to have as many problems. I still say Smartlabs should be sending a commission check to Universal Devices. Having an ISY-xx is what allowed me to begrudgingly stay with the technology. Without a 3rd party to put Smartlabs in their place when there are issues, us end users would never see the truth or get issues taken care of.

Cold water also works pretty well.

Can I use a Network IP Video Encoder?
Technically Xathros is correct, but expand on what you mean by Hook up? what function are you wanting the ISY to accomplish with the recording device? BTW which axis cameras do you have? What do you think about the resolution, etc? Alan The encoder is for encoding analog cameras to an IP signal. It's not a camera. The video is probably not much better than a standard analog camera on a decent DVR.

Can I use a Network IP Video Encoder?
Axis has an API: http://www.axis.com/files/manuals/VAPIX ... I_3_00.pdf It's called VAPIX. It may have things that you can link between the two systems. I Don't see video being displayed in the ISY console if that is what you are thinking. Camera motion detection triggering an ISY event, now that is probably doable. I haven't tried any of this though...

Backups and Restore System
Wow! I never realized this about the variables not being backed up. Am I understanding this correctly? If so I guess a couple of screen shots are in order.

Very impressive, couldn't be happier
I agree. If UDI made a "PLM" version of their own, that would be awesome.

Using ISY-99i to Notify via Email and Text
If the ISY can send an email to an email account then you should be fine with the @vtext.com

Best Practice idea Vista20p Alarm integration
Do you have the X-10 option on your 20P? I may be wrong here but I believe the ISY can receive X-10 commands and do things with them. Your 20P probably has the capability to have 16 "Outputs" with a special wall transformer added to it. You could program your arm and disarm and other alarm events to trigger these"outputs" which would send X-10 codes. You could use the ISY to receive these commands and run programs. The only thing is that X-10 is well....X-10. It works very well from some, not for others... This would give you 16 possible links from the alarm panel to the ISY.

ISY-994i LED's compared to the ISY-99i
Thanks for the reply. I wouldn't expect you to change hardware at this point for such a trivial thing. This can easily be remedied.
