You maybe could use a standard wide gap magnetic door contact (Sentrol 2505AL). Wire tie the magnet to the underside of the chair spring assembly and make a bracket for the sensor portion so that when the chair is occupied the magnet comes in close proximity to the sensor. This would give you some level of buffering so that you aren't getting constant alarms when you're adjusting position. Another thing you could do is use a standard micro switch with a long metal wand (hanger wire) that sticks out a few inches from the switch so that the wand will flex when the switch is activated but pushed beyond its limits. Duck tape and metal, as mentioned above, would also work great. There are several solutions to this...

Or wait for the right ones to be dual band. It might not be long, who knows...

I did search but my "Search fu" was not strong... It would be cool to see a PWM controlled front panel LED brightness for those of us that like to be able to use the IR capability without hiding the ISY and using repeaters. Like the other post said, you can't please everyone. In the scheme of this this is very minor and easily remedied. Thanks for the link to the other thread.

I have had Lamplincs on fixed brightness CFL lamps (rumored to also be a no no) for about 3 years or so until they were changed to LED. Didn't have any issues as of yet. Buy the extended warranty

Is it just me or are the LED's on the front of the 994i much much brighter than the 99i? I have my ISY location near my TV stuff and the LED's face the viewers. I an thinking of making a welders glass (plastic) piece to set in front of the LED array. Or maybe void the warranty and change a resistor or two... Anyone that has upgraded care to comment?

WOL worth it's weight in gold..

I also did the same with success. I did notice some "things" that were easily correctable: I noticed is that the default log on after restoring the backup was Admin:Admin, not what I had on the old 99i. I had to re-key the Elk user pass code and I also had to reboot once to get the Elk Module to connect (where the ELk bar shows at the top of the screen). I also had to change the email server settings from default to the gmail settings. (Outgoing SMTP server information) All other custom emails and messages were there. It actually worked right out of the box with the default email server checked. I don't want to ruin it for others but my module transfer email was responded to as completed in under 2 minutes. Gotta love that... Fast gmail servers and fast customer service.

Yes. It is a piezo element.

Re: Release 3.3.10 (RC7) Is Now Available

I also agree. The ISY-99 and 994 makes up for the shortcomings of the insteon protocol and the manufacturer. With out UDI, my insteon devices would have been ripped out a long time ago. UDI should be getting a check from smartlabs for all the times bugs were discoverd in code not related to the ISY. UDI has always been ahead of the curve. If smartlabs makes bad decisions and UDI is stuck with the fallout how is that the fault of UDI. All of the bitching should be put in an email to smartlabs, where it belongs. (No offense to anyone, really, send the email. It can't hurt.) BTW, 3.2.6 is still running strong on my system and does everything I need. I loaded every beta up until 3.2.6 because there was no immediate benefit. -
Thank you for your time and WOW, $109 is not too shabby. Does that include the 994 IR/ Pro if you already own an IR/PRO 99i?

I searched and couldn't find anything so I hope this hasn't been asked before. This one is for the UDI people... How long is the ISY-99 series of products going to be available / supported? When I see things (features) being removed from the 99 and certain features only being added to the 994 I can't help but begin to wonder. I understand that this is the world we live in now with technology and don't want this thread to be negative so lets not turn this in to a slam fest. Universal Devices still is an excellent company with an excellent product and has excellent support. That being said, what makes the 994 a "better" product other than the flexible wireless technology add-ons. (Processor, etc...) Thanks in advance

Are you using an ISY-26? That was "End Of Life" a while ago....
-
I can't believe there still isn't a way to do this...
-
That might have been me.
-
You would think that smarthome would work with developers like UDI to have something ready when it's products are released. Isn't that the whole point?
-
Do you have a model number? What controls it now?
-
It seem like there are people wanting to buy the Brultech stuff but their response is less than average, IMHO. It's a darn shame because I really like the ability to monitor the amount of channels that their units are capable of. Until there is a stand alone, web interface driven unit available I think I will hold on this one.

As mentioned previously, go into the BIOS and set the option on power fail to power on always.

Using I/O Linc with ISY-99i to emulate a Keyswitch Vista 20P
gatchel replied to AZAutomation's topic in ISY994
I believe that the time the relay closes matters in this situation. If you close it for less than .5 sec then it does something. If you close it for more than .5 sec it does something else., etc, etc.... My memory is still blurry...Is there any chance that the "alarm" is a duress alarm? -
Using I/O Linc with ISY-99i to emulate a Keyswitch Vista 20P
gatchel replied to AZAutomation's topic in ISY994
The keyswitch input on the Vista Series panels has different possibilities based on how long the signal changes state. Also, are you sure it works with a normally closed input? I seem to remember having to use a normally open contact to trigger the state change. -
Official Release 3.1.17 Is Now Available
gatchel replied to Michel Kohanim's topic in Previous Releases
What email server are you using? -
I have always thought about having spare Insteon Devices but the major limiting factor is that there is no way to update the firmware on switches, etc. I can't stand not having that functionality in this day and age, therefore I keep no spares. Fortunately, most of the devices that I have that failed have been covered under warranty, lately. Not so much in the early Insteon days.
-
I think for now you only get one user/password. I would be nice if you could set up user accounts and give it specific permissions. A check box for viewing a device and another check box for controlling a device would be an awesome start.

Maybe if you yell really loudly someone at UDI might hear you. Really though, It's been said that it's coming, relax. viewtopic.php?f=25&t=7886&hilit=fanlinc
