  1. Hello Glenn, You can only drag and drop within the tree. When the device is dragged to a scene the pointer will have the plus sign attached. You will have to create a scene before you can drag to it. Scenes are on the same level as My Lights. Configure isn't where Schedules or Triggers reside. If you are using v2.4 you should see Triggers and Schedules in the tree on the left at the same level as My Lights and your Scenes. Version 2.5 has Triggers and Schedules combined in a new tab called Program Details. Which version are you using? Yes, it will Rand
  2. Hey Jeff, I'm sorry it took so long to reply, I usually check the forum a few times a day. That bug was supposed to be squashed long ago. It must be something with Vista vs. XP. I'm not going to try to reproduce it here though Happy Linking Rand
  3. There used to be a bug if you had the window minimized when you quit the applet. When you restart the console you could not see the login request. I saw the bugger once. I cured it by blindly typing my userid, tab, password, enter. That was many versions ago, perhaps reintroduced with Vista? Rand
  4. I have three RemoteLincs and now that I checked I don't see the Replace option for any of them. 2.5 RC1. Rand
  5. Far out man.
  6. You should definitely find different circuits for the PLM and the PLC. Not that it will help with the flashing light...
  7. If the links between the CL and the LL were created with the ISY the status in the ISY would update automatically because the PLM/ISY would be included in the scene. If you do use the Query I imagine you will need to use a Wait for a second or two after a Query before you use the Status as a Condition. It should be 0.5 seconds per Device (you can Query Scenes).
  8. The ISY is supposed to be informed of any change in any device that it knows of. There is a Query under the Action command list though. Rand
  9. I'm not ready to put up the lights yet so I'm not going to test this. I have been using KenM's InHomeFre for the timers but of course the ISY has replaced that. I create 3 or 4 scenes for my holiday lights. I have been using 3 lamplincs but this year I will use 4 or 5. I never burn the lights at 100%, usually I use 85% tops. I think it is more pleasing. One way to make an Insteon light show is to create several scenes with various levels of different colored strings and use long ramp rates. With the ISY you could create a program to call a different scene every few minutes. One minute the lights are all white, five minutes later they are multi-colored, etc. Using the Random function should create interest. Happy Holidays! Rand
  10. Joe, Welcome to the world of Insteon Scenes are your friends Rand
  11. Create a Scene and put the tree in it. Then you can select any level and rate you like. Instead of controlling the tree turn on the scene.
  12. I wish it was smaller or not quoted so much, Excuse Me How about this? Slooplinc, You have to show her who is boss Rand
  13. Digger, Thank you. When I took those pictures I had three LampLincs controlling transformers for the model lights. Stores, apartments, and streetlights. I have added another LampLinc for background lights. I use three SwitchLincs for tracklights and room lights. I use four scenes, Midnight, Dawn, Daytime, and Evening. I am using 9 minute ramp rates. One does not notice for several minutes that the lights have changed I say nine minutes but some lights use more or less minutes. For example, the streetlights turn on quickly at dusk and linger on after dawn. The Evening lighting scheme is most popular as far as a fixed setting goes. All the lights are on. To the casual observer I skip the Midnight scene. We reserve the Midnight scene for, you guessed it, midnight. Run through the night Very good ideas! 1. The local level would have to be set at 25% (more likely 30-35%) and during the daylight hours a brighter setting could be called. 2. I would use a separate switch for the outlets. Or a double-tap on. Perhaps a timer to turn them off. 3. The switch should turn on the room light first. Don't start confusing me. You could use a double-tap for the hallway. You may want to leave the bath up to the guest. 4. Will definitely need adjustment... I would be more inclined to use sunset/sunrise than a specific time. This will take some experience & experiment. 5. Yes, get the better half involved. She may need one scene for feeding, another for diaper changing, another for a panicked little one, and one more for Good Morning! 6. I suggest here also the bath should be left to the guest. I turn on the hall and the kitchen Thank you, Rand
  14. I would try something like this: If Time is Sunrise - 10 minutes Then Wait 20 minutes (Random) Repeat 4 times Set 'Backyard' Off Wait 10 seconds Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
  15. I also use timers, double-taps, and lamp statuses to control most of our common area lights. Rand
  16. Pull them from the wall for a few seconds.
  17. You can buy the PLM from Smarthome for $60: http://www.smarthome.com/2412s.html Rand
  18. Too easy Open the Console and select the Configuration tab then press the button at the top that says Synchronize the Clock...
  19. Can I get in on this as well? I have three RemoteLincs, one ControLinc and one KeypadLinc (8 button). ISY v 2.4.15. I have never seen statuses from any of these, except the KPL, and then it was always button one, the local load. After I removed, reset, and added back the KPL I was seeing Status from all the buttons. This morning I am only seeing Status from buttons 1 & 5. Although button 2 shows no status the Program Summary correctly indicates it's state. After I toggle the button the Status is displayed correctly. Is the ISY forgetting the status? We have guests for the weekend so I can't play with the KPL or ControLinc much Yesterday I Removed a RemoteLinc from my Insteon system via the ISY, performed a Factory Reset, and added it back. After I activated each button at least once I was seeing Status from all buttons. This morning all the Status fields were blank until I activated each button again. I have no links to any of the buttons. Is the ISY supposed to recall the state of each buttons last press? What happens with Press and Hold? How could it know if I dimmed a scene to off? I understand that a KPL button can have a status, because I can see it. I can see the status of a LampLinc or a SwitchLinc, etc. But I have to wonder about reading a Status from a RemoteLinc or a ControLinc. From what I can see these buttons do not maintain a Status, they simply send a signal. Shouldn't these buttons only be watched for a Control signal? When a press is detected an Action should be taken. I don't understand how the button could/should maintain a Status? I have four buttons on a RemoteLinc that control three Lamplincs and three SwitchLincs. Each button simply sets different levels for the same six devices. When I use the buttons I do not need to turn off one scene to change to the next. So should all four of these buttons have a status of on after I have cycled through them? Shouldn't only the last button pressed be the only one with a status? I'm sorry to be so long, I am just trying to understand how a controller only device can have a status. I think the Status indicator lights on a KPL are, in general, a mistake. Thank you, Rand
  20. That's twist, using an Insteon remote to control X10 I think that the RemoteLinc will not send a command if it has no links to that button. I guess button 1 would always have a link to the ISY.
  21. Eat well and be happy!
  22. i gotta write that on a postit note You could have an unlimited number of devices responding to one controller as long as the controller doesn't know about more than X number of them
  23. Alright! Okay! That worked to remove the links Thank you! Now I think I will need more troubleshooting to establish the KPL<->ISY connection. A few more chores to do before more experiments Rand
  24. Mike, The fact is any LL or ILL could be controlled from any other Insteon controller, or by local control. There is also the possibility of controlling the SL and not the LampLinc. It would not be any more or less steps to check the LampLinc status instead of the SwitchLinc status. I hope that as you come to recognize the value of scenes you will be using that SwitchLinc to control a scene, no matter how small, and that the LampLinc will become involved in more than one scene. Rand
  25. That is so not true. InlineLincs are also independent critters. I believe the only truly linked Insteon devices are the Beta 2-wire switches. Rand
