  1. Michel, Relay switches send the same commands as dimmer switches. Press and hold to send bright/dim commands, double-clicks send fast on/offs, etc. The relays can be used to control dimmers. I am using a few as no-load controllers for dimmers. From the bit of experimenting I have done with the new (2.4.9) programs I am missing the fast on/off and dim/bright for scenes. Also something has to be done about device levels only being set to one of 11 levels, Insteon dimmer devices have 256 levels. Scenes should be used instead, I know that. Thank you, Rand
  2. Actually, when an Insteon device is just called On or Off it will change at the last ramp rate used. You will be better served to create a scene and specify the on level and ramp rate for that scene. It is true that you have to power cycle most Insteon devices before they recognize new local settings. And there should be a pop up. Or change the light to the level you want and press the set button once. Set the level for the ramp rate and press the button twice. The KeypadLinc is the exception to the power cycle. I reported a bug on the Replace Device function in 2.4 and it has been acknowledged. P.S. I set most of my timers for 30 minutes BEFORE sunset (and after sunrise) so if it is a dark day the lights are on before it's really dark. Nine minute ramp rates. Probably depends on your longitude. Winter is coming Rand
  3. Alf, Did you try the crawl? How did it work? I am just curious. It is said to transfer your scenes. I believe you may have to crawl from more than one controller to read all your links and scenes. The OutletLinc is, possibly, a future product. I would not hold my breath. I have some 2 wire LampLincs plugged into short extension cords to hide them. Rand
  4. Hello Michel, Alright this time, just don't let it happen again Restore Devices took a normal amount of time (~20 minutes) and then displayed the failed devices by name! Thank you for that. I put my two RemoteLincs in linking mode after the failure and again selected Restore Devices. In v2.4 this would happen very quickly. I assumed it was only restoring the few missing devices. I waited over an hour and then I saw the Request Failed pop up. After that I had to unplug the PLM for some minutes to regain contact between the ISY and my Insteon devices. Of course, the UDI team has probably fixed that in the overnight update, you seem to always be one step ahead of me When the ball game starts I will play with your program some more, right now I have a railroad to run Thank you, Rand
  5. Somehow you lost a colon or two Rand
  6. I installed 2.4.9 this morning. I followed the instructions: I can find no way to Export/Import Programs. When I applied the File->Restore Devices a requestor appeared that my RemoteLinc was not found, Thank you! and Request Failed. But contrary to 2.4, Restore Devices is apparently going through all my devices again, rather than only the failed devices. Which means the RemoteLinc linking mode will probably time out before it is restored. In my case, I haven't changed anything, just thought I would make certain all the devices were in sync, so all it is costing me is some time before I can delve into 2.4.9. Thank you and Owl-b-Baac, Rand
  7. I would doubt that it could be a dimming module. Rand
  8. I agree the new features look great! I see this as well. This used to be the Query My Lights at 3 AM. I cannot find My Lights in the list. No backup errors here. Rand
  9. Insteon does not support this. Scene commands are On, Off, Brighten, Dim, Fast On, Fast Off. A scene could contain hundreds of devices, each of which has a level and ramp rate unique to that scene. Hundreds of scenes are available. Using the ISY-26 it is easy to create another scene with the on levels and ramp rates you desire with your preset dim levels. Rand
  10. Yes, we are adding a decimal point so it matches the sticker. You should be fine since your devices are above v.2.4. That's odd with the KPLs, especially since a KPL Relay is probably one of the most requested devices never built. I have only one KPL and it has no load, so it's difficult for me to help you with that. KPLs do have different hardware/firmware than SwitchLincs. You may want to mention this in the Bugs forum. Rand
  11. That seems odd and unwarranted, but since it worked it's a Good Thing. There must have been something stuck in the PLM. It's odd that no one else thought of that. You have discovered something new! Another thread for the How Tos section. I knew you were going to be helpful from the moment you joined us Rand
  12. The first thing I did after reading your question Dave, was to try a switch. It did as yours, no notice to the ISY. Then I spent 15 minutes trying all my switches to conclude that all my switches, except one, do show an instant change in the ISY. I deduced that the one 2.4 SL I own was the only one that doesn't function properly. So I return to report that, and Michel has beaten me to it! I knew I should just wait for the great customer support that UDI has, but it was worth it to test all my switches, as many are not used often. Thank you Michel. Welcome to the forum Dave. The ISY is a great device, you will find a lot of good information here. Thank you, Rand
  13. I am programming my second RemoteLinc today, and yes, I am seeing that as well. Each button I program has an Is Managed By entry. The buttons on my ControLinc also have Is Managed By entries as well. Another glitch, the dialog pertaining to putting the RL into linking mode only appears when I remove the RL from a scene. I never saw it when I added a button to a scene. Thank you, Rand
  14. PowerHome does polling, the ISY does not, so these figures will probably not be as useful from the ISY. I guess you could do a Query every so often, but... Michel has promised a Copy Scene, AFAIR. Using a PLC and my Group Commander program it was not a problem to create links between another PLC and other devices. The ISY PLM has no problems communicating with the PLM in my EZIO with the limited testing I have done. I hope you find the ISY to be as useful as I do to program your Insteon devices, I think it is a fantastic Insteon tool! Thank you, Rand
  15. I can't wait to see the new schedules/triggers! You did mention mid-October in another thread, didn't you? I have almost forgotten about my ISY-26 since I have everything programmed (for now). I love that! Thank you, Rand
  16. Bummerlinc Goodnewslinc! Thank you, Rand
  17. I know you have been working frantically on the ISY firmware, but I was wondering if there has been any news on UDMobile? Any updates to the J9VM? Any luck with Slooplinc's contacts? Thank you, Rand
  18. You only need to do the Air Gap to set the Local level and Local ramp rate, not for any other scenes. Effectively this is removing and restoring the power, so if a power loss causes a memory loss this would not work. A switch can be reset by holding the air-gap (or the set button) in while reapplying power. Perhaps your brother has others in his home who accidentally change settings on some of his devices. We have very few outages here, but I have three LampLincs that I regularly remove power from, sometimes for weeks at a time, and they have always retained their settings. I use them to control low-voltage lighting on my model railroad and they are plugged into a power strip that I am sure to turn off whenever I leave the man-cave. Rand
  19. Each device does indeed have a micro-controller. Each device maintains a data-base of scenes. While the ISY can set the local level and ramp rate they will not take affect on any device other than a KPL until power is removed and restored (the switch is reset). This can be done by pulling the set button on switches for a few seconds. I don't believe the ISY checks devices for valid databases. You would have to use Restore Device if one of your modules loses it's mind. I haven't seen this yet. Power failures do not cause any lose of data. Schedules will not fire if the time is past when power resumes. You could use the Repeat function in your schedules if you need to be certain of specific states, otherwise Insteon devices are supposed to recall their previous state when power is restored. Rand
  20. I don't often use the MyInsteonISY, but I believe it references the firmware on your ISY. I am not sure of this. This I am sure of: Any scenes that have a local controller (SwitchLinc, KPL, ControLinc, etc.) has the links written to the devices. The ISY is not used when these local controllers are used to control scenes. My hallway lights will still work from any of the three switches if the ISY is disconnected. Schedules and Triggers are stored in the ISY and will not function if the ISY or PLM are MIA. Plan B: I still have a PLC that I will load timers into if my ISY goes down. Rand
  21. Thank you for the update, it sounds great! Thank you, Rand
  22. A bit contrary to your thought, but, in fact, I rely on the scheduler to dim the lights when the party should end. I use the longest ramp rate available and the change is very subtle. I call it a Midnight Scene, the lamps dim to a very low level, only enough light to allow one to navigate. It's a pretty good hint that people should at least quiet down if they are not yet ready to crash Since we can pretty much party any night here I have it scheduled for earlier times on weekdays and later times on the weekends. It reads as if this is what your 9PM scene is like, so all you really want to do is change that to a later time when you party. I have to believe the upcoming triggers will allow you to press a button to do this. As of now, calling the Party Scene again if the lights begin too dim to early (9PM) for you should keep them on until your Morning Scene is called. If you use long ramp rates you may be the only person to notice the 9PM dimming in time to hit the Party Scene again. I would suggest that you call your 9PM scene twice every night, once at 9PM, and if you override that (or not) again at the end of Party Time, which will make absolutely no difference if it was already implemented at 9PM. Rand
  23. Michel, Yes, my fears are alleviated. I was confused concerning the # of links in the PLM. Some of the PLM descriptions noted 256 links, others specified 417. Thank you, Rand
  24. Michel, I am more worried about the number of links. I now count 205 links. Every time I create a new scene I create more links, correct? If I create a new scene with six responders I have six new links. Am I going to run out of room in the PLM? Thank you, Rand
