  1. Oh No! As far as I know every new scene uses one node. In my example with four scenes that is only adding four nodes to the ISY. The ISY should already know all the responders. Each responder would have one scene added. Not that many links. Unless I am so wrong. Rand
  2. I am seeing the same as rowland. My On buttons are only as bright as the backlight used to be and the Off buttons are dark. I like it!
  3. Hello Charlie, Sure, you can use a Wait command: If Time is 3:15:00PM Then Set Scene 'Hallway' On Wait 3 minutes and 30 seconds Set Scene 'Hallway' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Rand
  4. Dave, Lunchtime The KeypadLinc only has the same on level in scenes that are controlled by it's own buttons. This is supposed to be corrected in the new KPLs. If you use a different Controller you can set the KPL to whatever level you like. That is why the ISY can be used as a work around. The KPL is the only multi button Insteon controller that has a load. SwitchLincs are indeed limited to one on level for their one button Rand
  5. Good idea Frank! I believe the program will begin to run as soon as it is Saved. It did with my holiday lights cycle program. If that is the case it certainly should Run at Reboot. Give it a shot, it can't hurt. Rand
  6. Frank, I haven't been talking to Dave. Perhaps I interpreted it wrong but what I read is: 1. He wants to use button 1 without affecting the load. Alternately he will set the local level to 0. 2 He wants to use the secondary buttons to control scenes that include the KPL load at various levels. Answers: 1. He has to set the local level to 0. 2. To use the other buttons to turn on the load he can use Scenes and Programs in the ISY triggered by those buttons. Before the ISY he would have no choice other than to disconnect the load from the KPL and connect it to an InlineLinc (or SwitchLinc, etc.) Rand
  7. Actually Frank, the KPL is the one device that doesn't require a reset when the ISY changes the local level and rate. Dave, for the other buttons to use a different level and ramp rate for the KPL load you will need to create the scene including the KPL load and the KPL button as Responders. Then create two programs. In these examples the KPL button is 'Family Room KPL 2' and the scene is 'Living Room - Talk'. If Control 'Family Room KPL 2' is switched On Then Set Scene 'Living Room - Talk' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') If Control 'Family Room KPL 2' is switched Off Then Set Scene 'Living Room - Talk' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Save your changes and try it out. There will be a slight delay as the ISY processes the button press. Rand
  8. Hello Dave, Button 1 will always include the load on a KPL. The new KeypadLincs (v2.5+) are supposed to allow you to set different levels for the load from the secondary buttons. With the older KPLs you will have to use a button as a trigger and have the ISY call the scene. Rand
  9. Some of the earliest ISY's shipped from Smarthome had an incompatible modem. By May that should have been resolved. You can try what you have. Plug it in. Wait for the light show to end. Try it out. The ISY should display a message to install the 2.6 update once it gets settled in. Wait some more. Set your location and time in Config. Add a few devices and experiment. Read the User Guide and the Wiki. If you have a question that hasn't been answered yet, ask away. Have Fun. Rand
  10. I use four scenes to contain every Insteon device we have installed. None of these scenes have a Controller other than the ISY. This is similar to creating Folders. Indoor Lights contains most of our indoor lights. Outdoor Lights contains all the outside lights and the remaining indoor lights. Trains has all the man cave lights as well as all the Insteon controlled lights for my models. Xmas Lights contains all our holiday lights. This makes it much easier to view the status of our devices compared to My Lights. We don’t have to scroll through a list and we are not tied into prefacing device names with acronyms. When creating a new scene it is easier to go to one of these scenes to select the devices than having to scroll though My Lights. Rand
  11. We have had our modem and router on a UPS for a few years. Very useful for short outages. I don't see a need for a UPS for the PLM and ISY because without power there can be no communication with any devices. Rand
  12. It sounds like you have set a long ramp rate on the lamp that appears to be unresponsive.
  13. After you set the rate through the ISY, go to the switch and physcally soft reset it (pull the airgap for 5 seconds, then softly push it back in - do not hold).[/quote That did the trick. Is that something peculur to the rev level switchlinc I have? (its old] ... Thanks for the tip on getting the local ramp rate to work. Only the KeypadLinc is exempt from the power-cycle-to-read-new-values for the local settings. You can also cycle breakers if you want to do more than one switch at a time. Rand
  14. I would like conditionals. The first Monday in a month, etc. would make it easy to specify most national and unofficial (Mother's Day...) holidays. I hope to have an ISY-26 (or equivalent) for many years Rand
  15. Darn, this forum makes it easy to lose topics... Yes, I will could spend some time with the User Guide. Be aware it will be mid-January before I will have enough free time. Rand
  16. I have been having a few similar situations. I also have a "New" new PLM (received yesterday) that locks up "sometimes" after a query or manual command to turn a light on or off. It seems that if there is a device the PLM cannot communicate with the sytem keeps trying and eventually the PLM locks up. I thought it would only try 5 times or so. Digger, I don't think this is a similar situation. I am sure your problem lies in the covert operations and surveillance scenarios. Jim, I have also seen what you describe. I often attribute it to poor communications (no ACK). If it only happens occasionally I don't become too concerned. I haven't been under 24 hour surveillance in quite a few years. When it occurs often with one or two particular devices sometimes using Restore Device is necessary to rectify the situation. Paranoid Rand
  17. Insteon dimmers are supposed to resume their previous state when power is restored. If you view the Program Summary from the Administrative Console you will see that some scheduled programs are run upon a reboot. That is what the Run at Reboot option should eventually control, AFAIK. Rand
  18. Thank you Mark. I appreciate your time. I am wondering if you wrote the new manual? Rand

    Keypad name

I appreciate that each node can have a unique name, but I still need a way to distinguish the buttons. I rename the first node and use Copy and Paste (Control-c/Control-v) to rename the remaining nodes. I do the same with ControLincs and RemoteLincs. Rand

    Thank you!

Yesterday when I first checked my email I saw that the UDI team had not only sent a new version of the ISY-26, but a Thank You note as well that was apparently sent to every beta tester. I would like to post a reply I had been editing in email: I would like to thank everyone at UDI for the continuous updates. It has been great to see requests implemented as quickly as bug fixes. I am sure all the testers will agree that is one of the most rewarding aspects. I have to believe that everyone involved is very happy with the terrific amount of effort UDI has spent on the development of the ISY-26. It is great to see a final version of what, IMO, is the ISY-26 that I think everyone has envisioned. The new User Guide is very nice to reference, I find it quicker and easier than the Wiki. Of course, the Wiki has it's place, as does the forum. I hope the team will take some holiday time to enjoy with their families and friends This forum has become a great learning center. I don't like to get sappy, but I'm sure we are all beginning to feel a bit gelled. It makes me proud to be a part of the growth of the ISY and UDI! Thank you and happy holidays to everyone Rand P.S. Don't eat the fruitcake
  21. One Program, Two Scenes, A Then and an Else Should keep the button in tune.
  22. I have a Scene-follows-Scene mentality I prefer to only use On with my basic schedules. When it gets light enough outside I have a scene that sets those lights to Off. I use a Scene because then I can set the ramp rates. I cycle through fours scenes on my outside lights: Daytime-Evening-Midnight-Evening-Daytime. I vary the start times and various switches can control them. There are a few more than four scenes for my indoor lights, but the same logic is used Rand
  23. A solution may be to have two scenes, one with only the KPL button. When the original scene turns on perhaps it can turn the button scene off. Rand
  24. I can confirm this. My "Vacation On" program: If Status Off Or Control is switched On And Control is not switched Off Or Program 'Christmas Days' is True Or Program 'New Years Days' is True Or Program 'Memorial Days' is True Then - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Other than that the Replace went pretty well. I got the Socket Open Failed error and waited until the lights on the ISY and PLM quit dancing (about 2 more minutes). Then I saw a Request Failed and the Socket error again. I closed the console and reopened it and the new KPL had replaced the old. Non-toggle button settings were copied, however I had failed to turn those buttons on before the replace so I had to change them. I get a Requester when I change the buttons individually, perhaps the Replace KPL function could include that warning. Overall I am very impressed with the Replace Device With... Rand
  25. I'm sorry I can't help you with the computer glitch. I don't understand why your timer is not working though. I have several programs that use sunrise/sunset. As Michel mentioned be sure to click on Save Changes from the Program Details page. Does the scene function as expected from the Main page? On/Off/Dim, etc. Triggers, a Fast On, for example, are displayed in Control when the Condition button is selected. The URL for Internet Access can be found in the Help/About menu item. Rand
