This morning I was playing with my KPL. Oh, that sounds wrong ISY-26 v 2.4.15, XP Pro SP2, Firefox 2.0.0.9, Java 1.6.0. KPL v.28 I was attempting to create a Vacation button as discussed in another thread. The button will control no devices directly, it's status will be used to determine what schedule will run on certain occasions. I cannot read a status from the buttons on the KPL even after doing Restore Device a few times. I will have to try MikeB's suggestion of deleting and relinking the KPL. That's a different thread. The button I want to use was linked to a lamp and I cannot get that behavior to change. I used Restore Device several times on the LampLinc and KPL. Changes in the status of neither are reported to the ISY when using the KPL button. So, being the wise man I am, I realized the LL is an older version, 2.4, and that I have a pile of new LLs waiting for the holiday lights to be installed. I thought I would replace the LL as a test. So I check out Replace With... The only options are two other 3 pin LampLincs that I have. The option should include all the two pin LampLincs that are installed. I don't believe the functionality is any different. All the new LampLincs I bought are two pinners so that I can use them with the light extension cords with the three way ends. Fortunately, Smarthome gave me a free LampLinc some months ago and that is a 3 pin. I plugged that device (v.2.7) into an outlet while holding the set button for three seconds to initiate a factory reset. After the LED came on I put the ISY into linking mode and pressed the set button on the LL to create a link. Viola, easy. The new LL appears in the list of Replace With... Then I recalled the LL should have a load connected, so I pulled the old LL and replaced it with the new LL. Went to the device menu and selected Replace With New LampLinc. A requester appeared that warned me the session will close when the Replace is complete. I don't recall seeing that when I replaced a SwitchLinc many versions ago. I select Okay. The progress bar appears and is moving slowly; I do have quite a few links to that LL. I didn't start the stopwatch, but after about three minutes I see: No such session, Login again. The Firefox window that starts the Console changed from maximized to it's default size and came to the front. The lights on the ISY and PLM are still blinking. Then a Request Failed. Finally a Socket Error null pointer... The lights are done blinking now. The Administrative Console was stuck on the hourglass and using a lot of CPU, actually the Task Manager showed firefox.exe using the CPU, however the close button on the console functioned and CPU went to zilch. I restart the Administrative Console and sure enough, the LampLinc has been completely replaced The only thing I can see that is wrong is the version number of the LL. It is stuck on v.24 and the new one is v.26. I tried a Query Device which changed the On Level and Ramp Rate to the true 100% at 0.1, the default for the device, but the version is still incorrect. Easy enough to change the Local Level and Rate, thank you Oh No, new LL is again linked to button 2 on the KPL. I can't find this association anywhere in the console I see the correct links to KPL 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. And it responds correctly to those buttons. And still there are no updates in the ISY when button 2 changes the LampLinc. I guess I will try R&R the KPL I have a lot of more important things to do right now (honey doos) so perhaps tonite. Thank you, Rand

What are the steps to swaping out an old PLM?
Sub-Routine replied to Mark Sanctuary's topic in ISY994
Chris indicated when this function (Remove PLM) was introduced it would allow installers to configure all the devices in a home using the ISY, make a backup, and then remove the ISY and PLM and use the hardware in the next install. Removing all the links in the devices to the PLM negates the retries that would otherwise occur. I am guessing here, I think that when the installer returns to make changes to the switches he can use Restore Modem and Restore ISY and be in all the devices again. Rand -
Press Dim to cancel the linking mode after any one operation and then restart the linking session for the next operation. A new four minutes. The RL never does more then four minutes of linking. Often restarting the linking mode will add another 4 minutes to the original communication if completed quickly enough. The ISY has very good error recovery. Rand

The 2 prong LampLincs are still missing in 2.4.15 They should be the 2456D2. Thank you, Rand

I thought that a long time ago, in ISY years, the ability to input a Custom Location was added and we could input lat/longs. In v 2.4.15 the location, in my case, keeps reverting to Chicago. Please excuse me if I didn't notice when this quit working, I haven't tried it in a long time and my sun transition times are close enough. Thank you, Rand

C Martin, Thank you for the examples. I spent a few minutes Saturday trying to make an "Away" button on my KPL but I could not get it to function properly. Now that I have read about 2.4.13 not deleting all the old links I realize why the ISY is not seeing the button state and the lamp keeps changing with the button Thanks again, Rand

Hello Michel, Yes it has been a long time. No news = good news I am using the latest McAfee (updated this morning) but it is not the AOL McAfee, or the Comcast McAfee, or any other * McAfee. I use the McAfee McAfee, if that makes a difference. Thank you, Rand
-
I have McAfee and have never had to disable it. I am thinking router trouble. Sometimes a restart of the router can fix things. I'm glad you got past it. So now that you are in, What do you think of the ISY-26? I was very surprised! Rand

If you use the button to turn off all the devices it will also turn on all the devices. It would also not allow you to leave one light on. It would take the ISY out of the equation, except for controlling the LEDs and turning the one light back on. Rand

"Apply changes to all devices" sets all the devices in that scene, with that controller, to the same levels and rates. A different controller will use unique levels and rates. "Copy Scene Attributes from Kitchen Island group" is indeed the way to correlate several switches to a common setting. Rand

This should be easy. Use a factory reset on the bad LampLinc. Or Enter the Insteon ID in the ISY and after it is linked use Restore Device on the little puppy. Or do both, in that order. Otherwise you might have a soiled LampLinc. Now that the above (green) is fixed, I'll try linking the lamplinc to the remotelinc outside of console then relinking remotelinc to console. Don't do that Yes, 1-3 across the top, 4-6 on the bottom. Even when using the ISY the RemoteLinc must be set in linking mode before you create new links to it. After the links are created the RemoteLinc is not involved when changing levels and rates. Rand

Aw, shoot, I thought that Replace had been ironed out. I don't use Replace very often. Sorry dude. The old LL dying should have no affect on the Replace. It could be as dead as a doornail when you use Replace because the ISY retains the settings. You should just need to Add and Replace the new device before you Remove the old device if you want to transfer the settings. And don't worry about removing a dead device from the ISY right away, the ISY handles missing devices very well. Trust me. Rand

Welcome to the forum Chuck. AFAIK, 52 is the newest release. 56 is still being tested. So go for it! Rand

So to reset the button should we use: If Time is 6:00:00AM Then Set Scene 'Vacation Button' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') within the Vacation On drawer? And Mark, is 'If Control is On' supposed to be: If Status 'Family Room KPL 2' is On And Control 'Family Room KPL 2' is not switched Off Then - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Thank you, Rand
-
Might I suggest you use scenes for the all off? Depending on the switch which was turned on control all the lights near it. Some switches might control more than one scene. And if I may suggest a twist on your immediate off. How about using a FastOn with one (or more scenes) as soon as a device is activated? That would give you good illumination for the cameras Wait some time and then turn the lights out. Rand

Yes, the UDI guys have been working very hard on the Programs of the ISY and it shows, doesn't it I think most of the wait for v2.5 is coming down to the documentation. Rand

Did you try giving her the old in-out? Factory reset and all? It is sounding like she's heading south. Must be pretty old with a double-O dot address. I'm up to 09.xx.xxs on a batch I just got. I love these things Link your new one to the ISY and then use Replace With> on the old module. Good luck, Rand
-
I selected Manually Adjust and as soon as the requester opened the ISY displayed the correct time and rise/sets times. I canceled out of the requester. Perhaps the 3AM Query could check every Sunday, since the legislators apparently have nothing else to think of but time. What a silly thing to change Rand

This worked on Halloween (I think) until I tried to build another for an indoor scene and ran into the Repeat 0 times wall I should have used Copy, but I was playing around. I think I had a Schedule in the If. If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Repeat Every 0 seconds Set Scene 'Outside Lights - Evening' On Wait 3 minutes Set Scene 'Outside Lights - Midnight' On Wait 3 minutes Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') I didn't want to test that, so I wrote this, which will flash a light: If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Repeat Every 1 second Set 'Foyer' Fast On Wait 1 second Set 'Foyer' Fast Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') I also learned that if the Program is in a folder that is scheduled to run only on Halloween that it won't run, no matter how many times I push the button Rand

Where did you find the option for Requests Delay? I thought 500ms was the minimum for Insteon (send/receive), but only nerdlincs need to know this. You have confused me now! Rand
-
aLf, yes it is the same as air-gapping a SL. Frank, it's an Insteon thing. There is nothing the UDI team can do to change it. Ramp rates cannot be specified in a change level command. You may also notice that when changing settings in a scene the lights change to the new levels, although not always at the rates specified in the scene. Actually, the double-tap does change the default ramp rate, but the new ramp rate correlates to the lamp level, not necessarily to the new ramp rate specified on the slider. There are only eight ramp rates (up to 9 seconds) that can be set using the double-tap. There are 32 values (up to 9 minutes) that can be set with software. A single tap changes the local level, and that does correspond directly to the current lamp level. I thought the same as you about the sliders being used for testing. But once I understood the difference it does make sense. Direct control, testing, or changing the local level, it works for me! It has been suggested here more than once that a requester appear to warn the user to power-cycle a device upon changes to local levels and rates. One more feature to add Rand

Okay, I tested it and Repeat 0 times is now a valid function! So is Repeat Every 0 seconds. Now I'm going to have too root around a bit harder to break something Thank you, Rand

Does the LampLinc in question have an address with xx.00.xx? I have 10 LLs (and rising) and have never experienced this. Rand
