  1. Looks like this upgrade breaks the Home Assistant ISY Integration. Probably because the login is now the Portal Login? Any ideas? I posted in the Home Assistant forum as well? Solution is: Change the credentials used by the ISY Integration. There is a hidden directory .storage and in that there is a file called core.config_entries. Control+F and search for the ip address of your ISY hub. I use the "File Editor" add-in in HASS to do this. You may need to tweak the configuration of the file editor to make sure hidden files/folders are not excluded. cudos to @maxnorth for the solution.
  2. I'm getting the same on a polisy.
  3. vbPhil posted a topic in eisy-ui
Does polisy get the new UI? I didn't see any mention of that in the Product Release.
  4. Yes, it's gets uninstalled when you clear the Java Cache. These are my notes. Load a New JAVA Admin Console on Windows PC ⦁ Clear JAVA Cache from Control Panel JAVA applet ⦁ To load the ISY Launcher. https://isy.universal-devices.com/start.jnlp ⦁ Install start.jnlp to C:\Utilities (or where ever you want.)
  5. I still have my 994i. I may try to resurrect it for fun. I wonder if the IoX backup from Polisy would load into it? But, as long as my Polisy works I’m good.
  6. I concur. The UDI Insteon controllers are way better than using Home Assistant directly with a modem. I'm using a Polisy for Insteon but use the z-wave adapter directly with HA. I really wish UDI would resurrect the lowly ISY994i for those of us that don't need all the other bells and whistles. It was excellent at what it did.
  7. Probably so. This is just a suggestion not based on actual experience but a long time Insteon, Z-Wave user. I think you need to add the main switch node of the z-wave switches as controllers of the scene, not those other "z-wave scene nodes". Just a thought.
  8. Here’s another description. What z-wave switches are you using? https://www.support.getzooz.com/kb/article/1259-how-to-use-multiple-zooz-switches-in-3-way-and-4-way-set-ups/
  9. Here’s another discussion on it. https://www.thesmartesthouse.com/blogs/the-smartest-blog/114982596-wiring-z-wave-switches-do-s-and-don-ts
  10. I haven’t tried this but it might be you need z-wave switches that are 3-way compatible. https://aeotec.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/6000247679-3-way-wiring-installation-for-illumino-switch
  11. yikes! my memory is shot. I was involved in that discussion and totally forgot about it.
  12. Isn't the All-On condition the result of an All-On command (scene control) being issued by the PLM because of certain random events happening and only older Insteon devices will respond to the All-On. Firmware in newer devices don't have the All-On capability so they shouldn't respond. If true, then get rid of all those older devices and the problem should go away?
  13. my mind is getting old and I can't decipher MS, what is it?
  14. I got hit with the All-On this morning. At least I believe it to be that. It always happens at an inconvenient time, and I just start turning things off and going back to sleep instead of recognizing just what modules are affected. Is there a topic here in the forum that gives a good summary of what this is and some remedies? Thanks
  15. My powerline adapters are on the same phase. in fact, they are even on the same circuit just opposite sides of the room. My powerline adapters are located in probably the best condition ever. They are on the same electrical wire, probably 35 feet long and still I'm only getting half their rated speed. When I tried having the network connected adapter across the house, I was getting less than 250 Mbps on a good day. I never considered that they could have been on opposite phases. At one time I had up to 4 powerline adapters running but the speeds were just too slow and intermittent so I switched to MOCA where I could. I see that you can get a pair of the ones I have on Amazon for $23. You could pick them up, try them, and if they don't work, send them back.
  16. I'm running a pair of D-Link powerline adapters in the same room, on the same circuit. They are on either side of the room so I can get a network connection to a TiVo Mini. It was a struggle to get a fast enough network connection to the Mini. I have a MOCA connection in the adjacent room, ran a network cable through the wall to the one powerline adapter and then the other powerline adapter across the room at the Mini. I first tried a powerline adapter across the house at the router, but the signal gets too attenuated by the time it reached the Mini's room and TiVo kept dropping out. From Amazon: D-Link Powerline Adapter Pass Through Extender Ethernet Over Power Gigabit AV2 Up to 2000Mbps MIMO Internet Network Plug in (DHP-P701AV) There's a D-Link PLC Utility that runs in Windows that shows the powerline adapter connections and speed. I'm currently getting 1024 Mbps between the two. Also, to answer your question, I haven't seen any negative effects on the Insteon devices in and around the room or house.
  17. @EJones01 Thanks for the link. I was unaware of EST. I'm crazy about ESPhome. I've fabricated many of my own sensors and 3D Printed enclosures. The Everything Presence One has some nice features and component selection. I'm definitely picking one up. -phil
  18. I can’t resolve your issue but to say I abandoned my Wireless Tag platform for Yolink.
  19. Hopefully ESPHome will adopt it without too much delay.
  20. If only my memory were that good. Also, I could never be sure that UDI hadn't expanded the Portal Account's requirements elsewhere other than just remote, Alexa and Google. I believe Portal authentication is used on their website and for some things in conjunction with PG3.
  21. I read in the Wiki about the UD Portal: I'm trying to simplify my home automation by eliminating platforms/products I don't really need. I've been on the UDI track since the early ISYs and currently have a Polisy just for the Insteon Interface with Home Assistant and I don't have any Node Servers. So if I'm not using any of those technologies do I really need a Portal Account?

This is the meter I mentioned. It was purchased from eBay. Monster Entech Wide Band Power Line Noise Analyzer NH-161 Sniffer
  23. vbPhil replied to FarmerGeek's topic in Insteon
I’ve been where you’re thinking. You might find more info on Insteon’s website forum. There is a noise detection device that originated during the X10 era that I tried but wasn’t conclusive. I don’t have the specs on it handy but can look for it if you’re interested. In my case the Insteon unresponsive circuit actually tested as no excessive noise according to the meter. My conclusion is, if you have such a location and there’s no devices on the circuit generating noise then there’s not much you can do except try one of the noise filters or use a zwave device or something like a Yolink or Kasa device.
  24. Do you know if this phantom All On issue happens with Insteon’s controller or other’s when not using an ISY?
  25. My PLM is a new USB unit bought on 4/17/2023 from Insteon with firmware 9E running with Polisy Pro. I've had about only 3 phantom All On incidents, all this year, and I've been using insteon >20 years. I can't say for sure but they may have only happened since the new USB PLM.
