I've always had my ISY set to Automatic DHCP and never paid much attention to the Network Settings on the AC Configuration tab. I notice now that it's set for DHCP and greyed out so I can't change it. How do I change the network settings on my Polisy IoX? I want it static at a fixed IP address.

Seems like it would have to be Insteon or Z-Wave. There aren't any Insteon but a quick search shows this in z-wave. https://www.zwaveproducts.com/products/z-wave-800-mmwave-sensor

Support thread for: PG3 v3.1.21 (May 22, 2023)

I'm running Polisy 5.6.0 and PG3 should have been current. After completing the Upgrade Packages from the AC I did a restart on PG3. Now when I try to launch the PG3 browser interface I'm getting a "ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED" in the browser window. I've tried doing a full reboot from the AC but it didn't help. Any ideas on what to do next? -

Is the EISY a better performer or are they about the same? -
UDI has indicated a while back that they are working on the i3 Paddle but consider it a minor issue. I don't agree that not be able to operate a dimmer in dimmer mode is minor but..... which is why I'm using it with Home Assistant instead.
-
Does IoX 5.6 support the Insteon i3 Paddle dimmer mode? The previous versions did not allow the Paddle to operate in dimmer mode only on/off. Therefore, I moved mine over to my Home Assistant Insteon PLM network where it does run in dimmer mode.

Curious, why are you citing HACS? My ISY Integration is on the main Integrations page not HACS. Isn’t HACS where the proto dev version for ISY is?
-
I'm using the ISY Integration as well. I looked around and can't find a version number displayed anywhere for what's actually integrated into HA. However, I believe that if you don't get a message to update it then it's running the latest. There is a Dev version out there but that takes special actions to get it running and you'd know if you were doing that.

I rarely get a false positive from the EZRain device. If a zone is currently watering it will sometimes fail the responding check. Here's another program I run just once in the morning. Sometimes it's handy to get a notification when things are good not always just if they're bad.

this is what I've been using for years.

I knew how to do the factory restore but didn't read anywhere that it actually cleared out the links database in the PLM. But now, we've heard it from the horse's mouth, Steve Lee, who's probably the foremost expert on Insteon.

I asked Insteon and here's their answer:
-
Good idea. Assuming original factory settings would have an empty link database this from the 2413U quick Start Guide should do the trick.
-
I will be doing the same for a while anyway. If HA is going to be the main controller it'd be better if the ISY could just be a bridge and not contain any of the scripting or scene control, but it is what it is.

I'm going to replace my Polisy's old serial PLM with a brand-new USB version. The ISY Cookbook procedure is pretty straightforward on how to do this in the section, 5.2.1.7 Restore Modem (PLM), so hopefully there's no gotchas. I was wondering if the memory on the new PLM is erased before it's restored to my network so that there won't be any orphaned links hanging around? That would also apply to reusing the old PLM someday but yet it's full of links. Does all that get cleared away somehow?

Here's the properties they list for the paddle dimmer. I set the ramp_rate_in_seconds and the on_level.
-
Very, very true. I was getting bored with the AC over the years, it never gets UI improvements just a functional, boring JAVA program. But now that I've experienced HA with an Insteon PLM connected, the AC is my number one choice. Especially since just witnessing HA creating Insteon Scenes. HA does not write the scene links to devices, and you can only turn a scene on or off. There's no capability to adjust individual ramp and brightness levels on the devices when creating the scene. My Insteon migration to HA has been suspended until further Insteon capabilities have been added to HA, if ever.

I have one i3 Paddle switch bought a few weeks ago. I like the style and the operation is very smooth. There’s 2 issues: the paddle is very large and just fits in the plate cutout and Polisy doesn’t support it as a dimmer only on/off switch. For the oversized paddle the alignment of the plate was critical otherwise it would get stuck and wouldn’t return to center after activating. For dimmer operation I removed the switch from my Polisy network and installed in my Home Assistant network where it operates as a dimmer with ramp rates and on level. I would buy it again although by the time I need one they’ll probably be out of business again.

So its been a few months and during that time I've added a Insteon USB PLM to HA for testing how that behaves. I have a question on scenes. When I create an Insteon Scene in HA the links are not written to the devices like they are with the ISY. To clarify this, I don't mean an HA Scene but rather the Insteon Scene created in HA through the Insteon Panel. Is there another step I'm missing or does HA not write the links to the devices?

I've read in forums that it is okay to have multiple PLMs and controllers in a system. I was wondering if it's also okay to have 2 PLMs plugged into the same electrical branch perhaps even in the same electric outlet?
-
I trust your advice. Although, I thought I would first get an ISY Topology report and then I would have the friendly name and address in a list. I am leaning towards doing it manually one by one as time permits. My process would be to start out with some seldom used devices, delete them from ISY and HA (ISY Integration) and then add them to the new PLM/HA system. This will give me a chance to experience how HA performs with a PLM attached. Who knows I may decide not to go all the way and rather keep Polisy around for the Insteon network
-
So that begs a question. For the case of a PLM connected to HA, I was under the impression that once HA detects the modem it will download all the links thus discovering the network. But you're saying it didn't behave that way with the Insteon Hub? I wonder then if I hook up a brand new empty PLM to HA, at the same time ISY is running the network, is HA going to be discovering a device whenever it's operated on in the ISY network? And, what if HA is connected to the ISY through the integration?
-
Has anyone tried migrating your ISY network to HA? I don't mean using the HA ISY Integration component but actually moving the PLM from ISY to HA. My ISY PLM is serial so I've purchased a new USB PLM from Insteon and will use that with my ameriDROID N2+ HA system. My thought was to do a PLM change in ISY to the USB PLM and then plug that PLM into HA and let it discover the network. Either that or just manually move each device from ISY to HA. One big issue is I've been using the ISY Integration so I have automations and scripts already using those Insteon devices. If they are moved from the ISY network to the HA network, it will probably break all that. Current Insteon network has 52 devices, 216 items in PLM Links Table.
