I'm running a pair of D-Link powerline adapters in the same room, on the same circuit. They are on either side of the room so I can get a network connection to a TiVo Mini. It was a struggle to get a fast enough network connection to the Mini. I have a MOCA connection in the adjacent room, ran a network cable through the wall to the one powerline adapter and then the other powerline adapter across the room at the Mini. I first tried a powerline adapter across the house at the router, but the signal gets too attenuated by the time it reached the Mini's room and TiVo kept dropping out. From Amazon: D-Link Powerline Adapter Pass Through Extender Ethernet Over Power Gigabit AV2 Up to 2000Mbps MIMO Internet Network Plug in (DHP-P701AV) There's a D-Link PLC Utility that runs in Windows that shows the powerline adapter connections and speed. I'm currently getting 1024 Mbps between the two. Also, to answer your question, I haven't seen any negative effects on the Insteon devices in and around the room or house.

@EJones01 Thanks for the link. I was unaware of EST. I'm crazy about ESPhome. I've fabricated many of my own sensors and 3D Printed enclosures. The Everything Presence One has some nice features and component selection. I'm definitely picking one up. -phil

Windows 11 Font sizes too small to read in some apps.

@larryllix Thanks. I don't use a drier yet. I think the humidity here in New Mexico is probably low enough, the other day it was only 7%.- 12 replies

Pretty cool. I'll have to play around with that. What filament gives the best results?- 12 replies

Ah! 3d Printing. I love it. I started about 6 months ago. I use TurboCAD Platinum with a Creality K1 printer. Got into it so I could make my own enclosures for ESP32 projects. I use Home Assistant with their ESPHome platform to communicate with custom ESP32 automation devices. Works fantastically. Now I'm printing constantly making all kinds of stuff to use around the home. The T-Shirt my wife bought me says, "Eat, Sleep, 3D Print, Repeat".- 12 replies

I can’t resolve your issue but to say I abandoned my Wireless Tag platform for Yolink.
-
Hopefully ESPHome will adopt it without too much delay.

If only my memory were that good. Also, I could never be sure that UDI hadn't expanded the Portal Account's requirements elsewhere other than just remote, Alexa and Google. I believe Portal authentication is used on their website and for some things in conjunction with PG3.
-
I read in the Wiki about the UD Portal: I'm trying to simplify my home automation by eliminating platforms/products I don't really need. I've been on the UDI track since the early ISYs and currently have a Polisy just for the Insteon Interface with Home Assistant and I don't have any Node Servers. So if I'm not using any of those technologies do I really need a Portal Account?

This is the meter I mentioned. It was purchased from eBay. Monster Entech Wide Band Power Line Noise Analyzer NH-161 Sniffer
-
I’ve been where you’re thinking. You might find more info on Insteon’s website forum. There is a noise detection device that originated during the X10 era that I tried but wasn’t conclusive. I don’t have the specs on it handy but can look for it if you’re interested. In my case the Insteon unresponsive circuit actually tested as no excessive noise according to the meter. My conclusion is, if you have such a location and there’s no devices on the circuit generating noise then there’s not much you can do except try one of the noise filters or use a zwave device or something like a Yolink or Kasa device.

Do you know if this phantom All On issue happens with Insteon’s controller or other’s when not using an ISY?
-
My PLM is a new USB unit bought on 4/17/2023 from Insteon with firmware 9E running with Polisy Pro. I've had about only 3 phantom All On incidents, all this year, and I've been using insteon >20 years. I can't say for sure but they may have only happened since the new USB PLM.
-
Seems like we need new firmware in the PLM to not issue that phantom All On. Is Insteon aware of this issue? I'm probably late to the party and all this has already been said.
-
The I3 Paddle did not actually come on but the On/Off module did. The follow up query shows the I3 Paddle Off and the On/Off Module On.
-
Yup, I've got an awful lot of pre v.45 firmware and they all came on with the All-On button. Also, my I3 Paddle v.54 and a 2635-222 On/Off Module v.48 came on.
-
I'm confused about the phantom All On phenomenon. I just had one this morning where all my Insteon devices came on, at least I think all of them. I was still in bed asleep, and it woke us up. In a sleepy stupor I just started turning everything off from my iPhone without troubleshooting. Is the phantom All On only turning on those older devices that have the All On function or will all devices new and old respond to that All On command?

No I'm on Polisy. I also noticed that it wouldn't do a reboot from the AC. Knowing that @Michel Kohanim said do not unplug, I tried a "sudo shutdown -r now" from a PuTTY connection and that fixed it. I can now login to PG3 and Insteon is working from IoX at version 5.8.0.
-
Upgraded IoX to 5.8.0 but now when I launch Polyglot V3 from AC and submit my Login I'm getting this response. I've seen this in the past but can't remember what it means or how to fix it. Also, this url isn't working either, https://192.168.1.180:8443/WEB/sysconfig.txt Any ideas?
-
Is powering down Polisy necessary? I would think just closing the Admin Console would suffice?

I haven't checked the HA logs and I've switched back to using ISY scenes. I'll have to reconfigure the HA Group again and give it another try while watching the logs.
-
I keep using them when they still work especially around the Holidays when you need extra modules for all the string lights.
-
I’ve created some HA Groups with many ISY Entities per Group. I’m finding quite often that all the Entities in the Group are not responding. Especially Groups with 5 or more. I’m wondering if this is expected, perhaps HA is sending the individual commands too fast for the ISY Integration or network to keep up with. Any thoughts or experiences with similar situations?

I had a similar problem long time ago for my location in Albuquerque. UDI had to change the rules. The list of Locations shown when selecting the AC Change Location button is wrong for Albuquerque. It shows the Albuquerque Daylight Saving Rule is America/Phoenix, it should be America/Denver. Phoenix does not change to Daylight Saving. I wonder when that rule was changed. I've never had this problem before.
