Power Supply to Polisy
- Migration to ISY on Polisy: An attempt to collect, organize and share Simplified Directions.
@dbwarner5 thanks for the reply. That's a good answer! I forgot about that being the case with Insteon and the PLM addressing. Not worth the effort then to set that up. I just ordered the Zooz USB 700 Series Z-Wave Plus S2 Stick ZST10 700 to use with Polisy. I only have a few Z-Wave devices that are installed, but not used. I think I'll try using Polisy with z-wave to start out and play around with that. Then migrate the ISY over using the restore from backup. I can use the same serial PLM that 994i is currently using. Although I do have another older USB PLM. I wonder if that's any better?- Migration to ISY on Polisy: An attempt to collect, organize and share Simplified Directions.
I went as far as starting ISY on Polisy adding it to the Launcher and then changing the logon credentials. I can run the Admin Console for it but don't want to migrate yet from my ISY994i. Is it possible to keep the 994i in service while configuring the Polisy ISY or once the migration is started there's no turning back? I'm not sure how far you can go with having the 2 ISYs, until down the road, when it's only the Polisy ISY. -phil- Does Polisy need internet access? Or a paid membership account?
I agree with @asbril on using UD Mobile on my iPhone. I gave up on Mobilinc when UD Mobile came out.- Trying to de-mystify / simplify Polisy
Looking forward to answers to your questions. I kinda get what's it's for and where it's going. I have the Pro but don't use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth (wouldn't know how to). Have a couple Polyglots going, Hue and Wireless Tag. Only using Wireless Tag nodes in ISY programs. Too scared to try using the Polisy ISY, not sure it's even ready for the masses. Definitely could use a good manual. Forums and Wiki's don't seem to cover it all. I struggle but get thru it eventually. My ISY 994i with Z-Wave is working pretty good to give it up just yet. In fact, I just moved it to the garage nearer the breaker panel and it's even more reliable. Polisy is still in my office on the tech workbench.- ISY Admin Console Error Log: -170001
I'd have to ask, then why is it in the Error Log if it's only informational. That's what the regular log is for.- ISY Admin Console Error Log: -170001
No. Same as Cookbook listing. -170001 is not listed.- ISY Admin Console Error Log: -170001
Any idea what error code -170001 is? Here's some sample entries from my error log file. In the Admin Console there's a popup context menu for any device called Advanced/PLM Communication. When selected a popup window is shown where you can set different values for "Communication to the PLM". The values range from No Retires to 9 Retries. I can't find an explanation for what this is for. Any ideas? thanks, -phil- Insteon units are failing, what should I do next?
Know of any way to test an old 2443. If these are dead I’ll throw them out.- Insteon units are failing, what should I do next?
Correct. According to the manual 2 Access points connect together. You plug one in, hit the set switch 4 times then plug the 2nd one in. Link is my word, although not sure what else to call it.- Insteon units are failing, what should I do next?
I think..... Just removed them this morning when I couldn't get them to link up anymore according to the manual. The rev 1 is so old the case is all yellow.- Insteon units are failing, what should I do next?
Are the 2443 Access Points still in production? I don't see them on the Smarthome web site. I have several, rev 1 and 1.6, not sure if they are still operational. Since I've been converting over to Dual-Band the last several years I don't think I need them anymore. I've uninstalled them and don't see any bad effects in my network. -phil- Questions Re: Multiple Devices and Criteria...Is Polisy the Box I Need?
Ditto MrBill. Issue would be the time frame. Just when is "soon to be obsolete" and when is ISY on Polisy user friendly? Sounds like I could set that up today with my ISY994i and the z-Wave module. -phil- Polisy vs. Polisy Pro
From a layman's point of view (no geek here) I see no difference. I got the Pro from a discount that was being offered just to supersize for maybe future needs. Right now I'm not using Bluetooth or WiFi and to tell you the truth I wouldn't know how to use them. I haven't seen any instructions on how to take advantage of these features. It's working fine with my ISY and I have 4 polyglots running; MyQ, Hue, WirelessTags, DavisWeather. I'm sure there's some more expert advice that will probably comment on your question.- Useful SUDO commands
I've picked up a few useful sudo commands on the message boards to help with maintaining a good running Polisy but I wonder what I could be missing. For instance, here's a group of commands that are great for updating and upgrading. sudo shutdown -r sudo service polyglot stop sudo service udx stop sudo pkg update sudo pkg upgrade sudo service polyglot start sudo service udx start Are there other commands that would come in handy?- Unable to upgrade Polisy
you will need an ssh utility (such as putty) to connect to Polisy over the network sudo service polyglot stop sudo service udx stop sudo pkg update sudo pkg upgrade sudo service polyglot start sudo service udx start- Exiting Insteon ISY User looking for Z-wave recommendation
Also, I've read here in the Forum that z-wave doesn't allow for large grouping ( 4 or less) either. Since I'm a newbie with z-wave not sure how that relates to scenes and if that's the same. I think I have a relatively small or medium Insteon network so perhaps z-wave would still be suitable. Attached is what I have so far. It's interesting though about the z-wave quantity reported by the ISY Inventory Polygot. I only have 3 z-wave devices but it's reporting 14. I'm in no hurry to switch over from Insteon, it's more or less just a curiosity at this point and I may continue to replace failing Insteon devices with z-wave if appropriate. Would like to see Insteon hardware more competitive and better packaging like I see with GE's (Jasco) z-wave. A new Insteon Modem would be nice too. My house is only 2400 sqft and my 3 device z-wave mesh already works from one end of the house to the other.- Exiting Insteon ISY User looking for Z-wave recommendation
It's been awhile since you posted your question but perhaps for someone else reading this. I just started to do the same. I bought my first z-wave devices from Amazon at a very reasonable price. Much cheaper than buying Insteon from SmartHome. GE Enbrighten Wall Switch Dimmer, Outdoor Smart Switch and Plug In smart Switch. They are all Z-Wave Plus. https://products.z-wavealliance.org/regions/2/categories/16/products?company=356 I'm very impressed with the quality and construction of these devices. The in-wall dimmer is what a hard wired electrical device should be. I'll be converting over very slowly but so far I'm sticking with GE brand. They are made by Jasco. https://byjasco.com/ I started by replacing an Insteon wall dimmer that was failing. But, had to build a small z-wave mesh circuit in order to control a z-wave replacement given it's position in the house from the ISY. It only took one device in between to get a good signal to the wall dimmer. Hope that helps a bit with your decision.- Two way communication with Homebridge and ISY
I'm looking for a Polygot V2 node server that can control my new Hunter Apache WiFi Ceiling Fan. The fan shows up in HomeKit and [some?] cloud server to integrate to Google and Alexa. SIMPLEconnect® smart ceiling fans are the first to be HomeKit Certified by Apple, and one of the only Wi-Fi ceiling fans that work with Alexa, HomeKit, and Google Home.- Polisy PRO Front Panel LEDs
I can't find this in the WiKi. UDI Support gave me this information.- Polisy PRO Front Panel LEDs
Okay thanks. One last question. Any idea what the LEDs indicate?- Polisy PRO Front Panel LEDs
Duh? I saw that and thought Download to Polisy. Does it backup the whole system or just Polygot node server installs? Thanks. Phil- Polisy PRO Front Panel LEDs
I hope I didn’t ruin something by pulling the plug. Seems okay. BTW, I don’t see how to backup Polisy, just a restore. Can it be backed up to a network drive?- Polisy PRO Front Panel LEDs
It continued to flash for a couple hours. I did a Polisy reboot but that didn't help. So I did a Polisy shutdown and then pulled the plug. Everything started up okay and now the light is out. Just the left most LED is on. So I guess everything is normal again. - Migration to ISY on Polisy: An attempt to collect, organize and share Simplified Directions.
