  1. Will we be required to sign up for a new list every time there's a new Alpha release? I thought I was already on the Alpha list...
  2. I have been reading the various threads on the SH garage door kit, and my eyes are getting a bit crossed. I have many questions, but I am going to start with just one. I installed my I/OLinc as described in SH quick start guide. I attached the green wire to Ground, and the black wire to Sense. The red wire is capped off. (I will deal with opening/closing the door in a later thread.) With this configuration, the sensor shows ON when the garage door is closed (the LED is on), and it shows OFF when the garage door is open (the LED is off). Is this expected? The impression I get from reading the documentation is that it should be the reverse: the sensor should be OFF when the door is closed, and ON when the door is open. I appreciate any clarification offered. FWIW, my I/OLinc shows as v.33 in ISY.
  3. I have an 8-button KPL relay which controls my landscape lights (button A). Button B has, for at least two years, been a controller of the "Family Room Lights-Full" scene in my family room. That scene includes three LampLincs as responders, and a secondary button on a KPL dimmer in another location as a controller. I have been applying the ISY alpha builds, and and have been on 2.7.8. After replacing one of the older LampLincs in my family room with a new Dual-Band LampLinc Dimmer, I checked the on levels/ramp rates in the scene and discovered that the ramp rate on the KPL dimmer is greyed out (remember, this is button B, not the load). I'm 99.9% sure that the ramp rate on the secondary buttons on the KPL Relay used to be adjustable. I tried the following fixes, all of which were unsuccessful: Query the KPL Relay Restore the KPL Relay Remove the KPL Relay from the scene and add it back Upgrade to 2.7.9 Alpha. Any suggestions?
  4. Bump for the upcoming holiday. Happy (early) new year!
  5. The original alkaline battery that came with one of my 1.0B motion sensors just died without giving a low-battery report to ISY. Didn't notice if the LED was double-blinking. The battery has been in the unit for several months, but the unit was only installed about a month ago. Prior to that it sat in a drawer, where I hope it didn't see much motion at all.
  6. To answer Michel's question, there is no load attached to my KPL, so Button A is only used in scenes.
  7. I am investigating this exact same issue, and was actually just coming here to start a new thread on it. (Up till now I have dealt with it through programs.) I have an 8-button KPL which has always displayed this problem. I tried restoring it this morning and that did not resolve it. I just completely removed it, factory reset it, and added it back to ISY, and the same issue occurs. My buttons are not in any other scenes as responders, and they are not used in any programs. FYI, my KPL shows date code 0725 and Rev. 1.65. It reports in ISY as v.2C.
  8. This is a great question, and one I was actually come here to ask tonight. I'm helping my mom set up a home lighting network (my mom is the biggest electronics geek I know), and I've recommended an ISY for her system. She, too, is attracted by the $100 price difference. I know UD is basically unparalled in its support, but the warranty question is still valid. Even $199 plus the cost of a new PLM is serious for my mother, who was recently widowed and is watching her $$. Thanks, guys!
  9. I don't want to hijack Tim's thread (even though he hijacked my name ), but I was wondering if Michel could expand a bit on his comment that sensitive programs should use a duration, not a specific time. I've been using an ISY for 18 months now, and this is the first time I've heard that recommendation. For example, would you recommend I replace this current program (which often leaves at least one entry light on): If Time is Sunrise Then Set Scene 'Outside.Entry Lights' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') with this one: If From Sunrise For 1 minute Then Set Scene 'Outside.Entry Lights' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Again, apologies for jumping in.

  11. Successful upgrade here with 99i/IR PRO. So far, so good.

    Thank You

I just want to thank everyone at UD for the brilliant yet simple "COMPARE" function in 2.6.14. Using it today, I have managed to identify and correct mismatched links in all but two of my "problem" LampLincs, and also determine once and for all that two others most likely have communication issues due to noise. I'll be adding a few more Access Points soon, which hopefully will resolve the last of my communication issues. Thanks again!
  13. I am having similar issues to Steve. Some lamps are not responding to group commands and simply fail to turn on or off. Other times one or more lamps in a scene turns on in response to a KPL press, but then immediately dims to roughly 50% or simply turns itself off. Last night one lamp failed to respond to a scheduled off command, and then flatly refused to respond to multiple keypad presses. (This is a brand new lamplinc I just got after RMAing one of my "defective" lamplincs.) Restoring the problem devices has not seemed to resolve these issues. One time since upgrading to 2.6.14 my landscape lights failed to turn off in response to the scheduled OFF command at 2am. The log shows that the program ran on time. The switchlinc relay just didn't respond. Suggestions are appreciated. I don't get many opportunities to complain about my wife's scrapbooking hobby. Unfortunately, her opportunities to complain about my hobby seem to be on the rise.
  14. One of the forum members was developing an app that never got out of beta. My understanding is that he has gone on hiatus due to health problems. I, too, am hoping someone will pick up the reins and develop a native app. For now, I'm zooming just like you.
  15. I am not a beta tester. It's the story of my life, really: Never part of the "in crowd."
  16. I am not seeing that behavior on my iPhone 3G. I have to enter my username/password each time I access my ISY, regardless of whether or not I have cleared my history and cache.
  17. Unfortunately, the LED glow is a characteristic that is not limited to the LampLinc. I started dealing with LED glow and ApplianceLincs last year. Rather than use the night light idea, I've gotten in the habit of attaching a spare power adapter from an unused piece of electronics to the same extension cord. That always solves the glow problem, and there's no annoying 4-watt light bulb lit near the plug when the Christmas lights are on. Speaking of load sensing, do you know if the OutletLincs have it? I'm kicking around the idea of migrating from ApplianceLincs to OutletLincs, which would allow me to eliminate about 50% of my wall warts.
  18. Is there any reason why I shouldn't use LampLincs for the the LED Christmas lights I'm putting up inside my house, so long as I set the ramp rates to 0.1?
  19. Since people always jump on this thread to report upgrade failures, I thought I would pop in to say SUCCESS! Upgrade 2.6.8 appeared to go off without a hitch. Thanks guys. EDIT: I went to bed after upgrading late last night. When I got up this morning, the lights outside my doors were on (should have gone off before sunrise), as were my landscape lights (should have gone off at 3:00 a.m.). I checked the log, and saw that while the Query program ran at 3:00 a.m. as expected, none of my other middle-of-the-night programs had run. The "next scheduled run" appears to suggest that my interior lights will turn on 20 minutes before sunset as intended. We shall see.
  20. What he said! 17
  21. Michel and I made some inquires with the manufacturer of RFXCOM earlier this year with the thought of integrating it with ISY. The idea was shelved due to the prohibitively high price of the RFXCOM receiver. I'm in the middle of upgrading my Oregon Scientific weather monitoring, and actually use a Visonic RF security system (which is received by RFXCOM), and would be very interested in revisiting this as a possibility.
  22. I prefer to identify the type of device first, followed by the room, and then the specific location within the room. This keeps all the same devices appearing together in the tree, which makes it easier for me to find them. For example: KpL.Foyer.A.Ceiling (Load) KpL.Foyer.B.Laundry ... KpL.Landing.G.All ON KpL.Landing.H.All OFF ... LmpL.Living Room.Couch LmpL.Living Room.Love Seat ... OutL.Patio.Left OutL.Patio.Right ... SwL.Foyer.Recessed SwL.Utility.Ceiling I use a similar convention for naming scenes (which makes it easier to find them in the drop-down list when working in Programs): Scene.Landscape Scene.Living Room (50%) Scene.Living Room (80%) I keep my programs in separate folders for each room. Some of these folders have conditions, some do not. Family Room Living Room Upstairs Hallway I also have a few "generic" programs which are not in any folder, and which are used by other programs to check certain conditions. For example: Program.Early Night (Sunset to 9:30 p.m.) Program.Middle Night (9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.) Program.Late Night (11:30 p.m. to Sunset - 30 minutes) I use these programs to test conditions and set scenes depending on what time the Away button is switched off, what time the home security system is armed/disarmed with a keyfob, what time/how the Hot Tub button is switched on or off, etc.
  23. Rather than clog up your power lines with repeated commands, why not create a scene with that light in it and a ramp rate of 10 seconds or so (you can play with the ramp rate until you get a time period you like), and then simply have the scene turn off when the light is on. Your program could be as simple as: If Status 'Powder Room Light' is On Then Set 'Scene.Powder Room Light With Long Ramp Rate' Off Else No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
  24. I'm curious how beta apps get loaded onto the iPhone. Is it distributed through iTunes, or is there a compiler app that installs it...?
  25. I thought I responded to this yesterday, but I can't find my post. Anyway, I would be happy to be a beta tester for you. I'm using the new iPhone 3G. I have an ISY 99IR PRO, and about 23 active Insteon devices (mostly SwitchLincs and LampLincs, with a few KPLs and OutletLincs thrown in for kicks).
