I did mean the 2477. I did not realize you wanted it in a normal switch size. The only mention I saw in the discussion above was a limited enclosure size and no access to a neutral, but I did not realize that the limited enclosure size was that of a standard switch.

Yeah, they are still going. Test has been contaminated a bit. I had to replace my PLM. As a result I had to put the MD into programming mode which takes a bunch more energy than just detecting motion. One of the MDs batteries did not have enough energy to power the programming mode even though it was detecting motion just fine. So it had to be replaced to complete the PLM replacement. The one MD that underwent the battery change is in a heavily used area with at least 10 triggers per day every day for the past year. Other test units are working fine still even after the heavy energy usage of re-programming. All MDs are exterior and are in an operating environment that has ranged from 17˚F to 103˚F over the past year. I will report when the others start to die that are still in use with the original batteries.

A quote from a random Insteon Manual, a Switchlinc in this case: NOTE: Unless they have been Unlinked, INSTEON devices that have been previously Linked to SwitchLinc will still respond to paddle presses, even after a factory reset. The reason is that the INSTEON devices themselves have not been Unlinked from SwitchLinc. See Unlinking a Controlled INSTEON Device from SwitchLinc. This, or very similar text, can be found in almost ever Insteon controller's manual. You can see this dynamic for yourself in a very controlled way outside the ISY. Get a controller, tap link a responder to it. Factory reset the controller. Hit the button on the controller and the test responder will still turn on... I believe this is referred to as a half-link or a broken-link. Not a desired situation as the controller cannot send clean-up commands to the responder since it does not know about it. This is what I believe is happening in your Rlinc case: The responder links are there in the responding devices (the ISY put them there when you created or added the devices to the scenes) and they see the group command coming from your Rlinc and respond, but the Rlinc does not know it is trying to talk to those specific devices because the lincs to those devices have not yet been programmed into the Rlinc since you have not put it in programming mode. I also believe this is a major cause of your scene testing problems which I have been following closely. Specifically, the poor ISY has forever been trying to program your Rlinc, and apparently tries to every time you change the state of something, but never succeeds because the Rlinc is never in programming mode. This could explain all kinds of slow communication issues if the ISY is always trying to contact the Rlinc without success every time it tries to do anything.

Justin, You did not program your Rlinc without pressing the dim bright buttons. You did program the responders to the scene, and they are still reacting to the button press on the Rlinc, but the Rlinc is still waiting to be programmed. This is why you have to disable it to get the scene test to work. First order of business is to put that Rlinc into programming mode and let the ISY do the desired updates!!!!

Sure, I will let you know. Never happened before in over a thousand hours of being enabled. Not sure what to think of this. Maybe a fly hit the switch really hard flying around in the morning. Ghost? I assume you have never heard of an issue like this before from anybody?

I have a program that is enabled (via folder conditions) only when I am not home. This program monitors many of my switches and will notify me if one is touched when no one is supposed to be in my home. At 5.41.10 today while at work I got such a notification for the first time ever! I have had this program running for a long time with never a failure watching lots of switches so I was deeply concerned. It appeared that someone had pressed the switch controlling my bathroom vanity light! After investigating I cannot find any cause. I could understand a light coming on when I did not want it to due to a bad link or some such, but the ISY mistaking a status change in a light for the switch being pressed is unheard of as far as I know. For all I know the light was never even on, let alone having the paddle pressed. Thoughts?

Using 'LED Brightness' effects all the leds of the switch. There is no way to control an individual button's led brightness. There is no way currently to adjust them so that on and off look the same brightness. 0,0 does indeed give you a dull light when on. This is the darkest you can get. Wow! Solved my own problem. I did not realize that IOLincs could have on levels in scenes. If the slider is at 100% the IOLinc will work as expected. If the slider is at 0% it will work exactly opposite as expected. So turning a scene off can actually turn an IOLinc on in this case. This will come in handy. I found that when I created a new test scene and put 4 IOLinc Relays in there they all defaulted to 0 on the slider. It took some trial and error to find that they were in fact responding to the scene commands but turning off when I issued an on scene command. While this is very cool, the status of the Relay will be backwards if you do this. The ISY will report the condition as off when really the relay is on and vice versa.

I have a new IOLinc that I just added to my ISY. I am only using the relay outputs. It will not respond to scene commands. I built a test scene with only the IOLinc in it. If I turn the IOLinc on and then turn the scene off the ISY thinks the IOLinc is off, but a query shows it still on (which in reality it is). The reverse condition is also true. I factory reset this device before adding it. Anyone else have this problem? IOLinc V.36 ISY 99i V2.8.2

I had one MD that I just could not get right. I changed to a brand new battery and it worked fine after the next factory reset and restore. While the battery that was in the MD was fine for sending motion events and on and off signals via set button presses, it did not have enough juice to get the factory reset right. I also believe a weak power supply can effect the programming mode of these devices. I did not do any amperage testing, buy my anecdotal evidence suggests that these devices take a lot more power to program or factory reset.

I replaced my older 2412S PLM that was limited to 417 links with the 2413S Dual Band PLM. My ISY 99 Pro was on v2.8.2 I restarted my ISY with the new PLM attached and turned off Batch Mode. Then I put my seven version 1 motion detectors and 2 Remotelincs into programming mode. I then executed a 'Restore Modem' command. The two Remotelincs made it through this process just fine, the motion detectors did not. I do not think most of them stayed in programming mode long enough for the restore to take. I repeatedly turned battery batch mode on and off while trying one MD at a time. Finially I got all the MDs to show that they were done writing in the device tree. (no more 1010101 arrows beside the device) Now the interesting thing here is that the other devices in my device tree now show they need to be updated (10101010 arrows beside the device). This makes sense as I had batch mode enabled when I issued the 'Restore Modem' command these updates were not written to wired devices. But there is one KPL that does not have the batch mode flag next to it. This device is a v.36 6 button KPL that was added along with two others (8 button) under v2.7.15. I turn off batch mode and the ISY begins the big restore. I go away. Later, after the ISY is done with its hard work, I see that there are 3 devices that still want to have updates written to them. I turn on and off batch mode. The ISY begins writing updates again. It picks up the troublesome devices this go around. But the KPL that did not have the batch mode flag is not showing its statuses. So I try one more 'Restore Modem' round. This has the effect of putting the waiting for updates to be written again flag on all my battery powered devices, but does not bring the missing KPL into compliance. I again go through all my battery powered devices trying to get the updates written into them. Even after success I find that the MDs are flashing their LEDs as though they are not successfully communicating. The results of pressing the set button in the MD is showing up as proper status and in the event viewer, but each MD complains with the flashing LED about failed communications. Ultimately I factory reset and restore each MD in succession to correct this issue. Once factory reset and restored the MDs work great again. But the KPL does not play nice even after a factory reset and restore. The two other v.36 KPLs added at the same time are fine. I am forced to remove the KPL from the ISY and add it back in again before functionality is restored. All in all, the process of changing PLMs took me about 3.5 hours.

Unsure. Plan to test toggle mode with other KPLs later this week. Change over of PLM was very time intensive and I have run out of time. I plan to do a separate topic later in the week of my experiences with the PLM replacement. May be some interesting tidbits in there for you when I do.

Update... Got new PLM because of link limit issue. Used 'Restore PLM'. Two of my new v.36 KPLs went through this process fine. One however did not show the need to write (I was in batch mode). No matter what I did I could not get this KPL to join in. I used all the tricks I could think of, eventually I factory reset it, removed it from the ISY and added it back in under the current version I am running (2.8.2). Of course I needed to force the off button to be off again. Link mode left in automatic. Changed toggle mode. This time it used the extended message on the first try and successfully changed modes. Previous adding of this device to the ISY was under 2.7.15. So there you go...

Looks like it is a PLM issue. I did a restore PLM and then was able to add 2 buttons. I guess I have hit my links limit with this PLM. Sorry for the long winded post that appears at this point to have nothing whatsoever with any of the info I posted.
