  1. Why did you do that if you're just going to use it as a 6 button anyway? Just because it's not attached to a load doesn't mean it can't be linked to something. Just set the kpl back to default and link it to whatever lights you want
  2. I posted on here for others to know in addition to UDI so that others are aware should they have the same issue. It's not just for UDI to know. I still submitted a ticket as well.
  3. @Michel Kohanim I found another potential bug with Yale locks. In 5.0.16 and prior, Keypad lock was a separate command from manually locking (from the inside thumb-turn. Now the only command for locking is manual regardless of whether its from the thumb-turn or from the keypad.
  4. I used to use sommer garage door openers. Quiet as hell and worked really well. But they open and close slow as words I can't use here. I'm not a fan of MyQ but with the nodeserver it works well at the basic level. I do use an external sensor so that I can get local status vs relying on the cloud. Outside of that, the few times I need to use the actual close works out really well
  5. There is no set design or plan as everyone has their own method of doing things. There really is not right or wrong way to do something. Your light switches are in set places so there really isn't any designing to it. What you need is planning and only you can do that. People on here can give you ideas but nothing beats pepper planning on your end. What you can do is sit down and plan your system. Put pen to paper (so to speak) and look at the flow of your home and your lifestyle. In my house, each room has a kpl (along with the other switches) that we use for our mood scenes. This sets the room for what we want outside of the default programming. Everything else happens automatically. For example, we use our lamps mostly in the living room. By default, as it starts to get dark, those will turn on at a low level and gradually brighten as it gets dark. The letter it gets the lights will dim down the closet it gets to bedtime. We can hit a button on the kpl, if we want to relax, watch a movie, we're entertaining, simply want extra lights, etc. Same with the kitchen. When no one is in there, accent lights will come on when it gets dark. Walking in will turn on the can lights. Hitting the meal prep button will turn on the lights we want for cooking, dinner button will set the area up to eat etc. By planning, you can get the devices you want correct from the start vs buying and installing, then wishing you had done differently later. The same with installation. Here's your chance to move switches around so the light you use most is first It's easy to want to jump in and start programming. Plan what you want from by room. Start with the least used room as your practice room. Let this be where you learn to program and put ideas to work. As you become proficient, you can branch out to other rooms and start programming then add well. The good thing is that devices will still work without programming until you get to them. Just remember, it's not a race to finish this. Rome wasn't built in a day nor will your system be done in that time. I'm always changing our adding stuff and so will you. The most important piece is to start with a strong foundation
  6. That's the nature of zwave unfortunately. I've seen this issue with other controllers
  7. The smartswitch 6 works as well
  8. When devices are together as controllers they are also responders so you don't need separate scenes for it
  9. Any zwave (if you have zwave board), hue, lifx, and magic home, bulb can be controlled. A quick search on the forum will add more to that list. You'll need the network module and/or polyglot to make the rest happen
  10. I never use them for yale but I looked at mi e and it's missing too
  11. I agree with ELA. That's extremely fast...Waaaaay to fast for it to be doing anything
  12. No. 2 separate and incompatible systems. You could get the insteon ID from your admin console to add your devices to the hub. However, you would not be able to factory reset it. In this case, I would write down the id, unlink it from whatever scenes it is part of, and delete it from the Isy PRIOR to adding it to the hub. The same would need to be done for any other embedded devices. The rest, you would manually factory reset prior to adding to the hub.
  13. All over the forums (including the 5.3 page) and wiki. The same as migrating using the same controller. Back up zwave (if you have zwave), backup isy, restore zwave, verify programs
  14. The problem with forums is that so many people comment on different things, issues can get lost in the process. UDI can't read every post to find whats what (though they chime in regularly). A ticket is the best way to get a bug fixed long term.
  15. Did you clear your Java cache
  16. The pandemic has pushed things back for alot of companies. This year has been trying to say the least
  17. They do. I wish they would share more info but they've been busy
  18. They have a new product line coming out next year.
  19. The instructions for factory reset is in the owners manual. Pretty much unplug module for 10 sec. Hold set button while plugging in and continue to hold until beeping stops
  20. What steps did you take to add them to alexa
  21. That's a loaded question. Check out the zwave subforum to see what types of things you can potentially run into. I wouldn't jump into zwave until you're ready to invest in at least 5 or 6 devices (depending on size of home). Trying to do 1 device at a time is a sure way to lost hair and AA meetings. Neither insteon nor zwave is perfect. The gotchas though come down to what matters to you. For me, I love uniformity so I could never use zwave for lighting. With zwave, devices turn on 1 at a time so that will always be a non starter when it comes to lights. Looks too amateurish. If that matters to you, zwave will probably drive you crazy. I'd rather deal with insteon issues over that. Should insteon ever cease, I'd switch to control4 in a heart beat
  22. @Samedarkcloudsyou're going way too far with your language....you might want to step away from your computer for a while.
  23. Polisy is for multiple types of people. Those with certain knowledge can and do the more advanced stuff. Ease of use is relative. As a developer (or person with knowledge) going outside the store and configuring things for personal use is much easier. If you don't understand the commands, then someone will be on here telling you each step of the way what to do. When something doesn't work, it's them having to take the time to figure out what's wrong and walk you through it. For everyone else there is the store. People (including myself) push towards there because anything else means being your own person tech support person afterwards. While you may not like it or want something different than what the store offers; that's the level you seem to be on which is why you're pointed to there. If something goes wrong when using the store you have 50 people that can help. Something goes wrong by bypassing the store, you have 5 (not literally) available. Mostly likely only 1 will be available and then he's stuck with you. That means time away from doing stuff with family/friends or whatever else they want to do. Same with UDI. They recommend the developer and store based on knowledge. There is a minimal expectation of knowledge and skill when it comes to developers. If they have to take time to walk you through every step, they've lost time and money. This affects their business. The store on the other hand is much easier. Unfortunately It's the nature of the beast.
  24. When you come across the way you did, you'll automatically have people gunning for you. It's just like arguing with someone. If someone comes taking jabs at you from the start, you'll do the same back. In this case you took jabs at UDI in your approach so those who know different automatically took UDIs side. I know I help people based off the knowledge that they show they have and how something was designed. If you don't know how to SSH into something, run the commands, etc. why reinvent the wheel, with having you do something when there are much easier alternatives. Maybe you have the knowledge but how are we to know? Those that do already take advantage of that without coming on to forums carrying on as you did. Because of that, our approach is to point you to the method that polisy is actually sold for and that is the avg consumer. Coders and developers are not avg or even above avg. They're in a league of their own. They already know there's limited help outside of specific people which is why they have their own place for stuff. Instead of bashing, simply asking for help would've gotten a much better response
  25. People push you towards the store because that is the easiest way to accomplish what you are trying to do. Those well versed with using SSH, sudo, etc. are able to do things that normal users are unable to do. If you understand SSH, sudo, coding, etc. well enough, you probably wouldn't be on here carrying on the way that you are. Most aren't going to take the time to walk you through what's needed when there are much easier and direct ways to accomplish the same task that your going around robinhood barnyard to do. After all these days going back and forth (based off the 1 nodeserver you mentioned) you could've already had it on your Polisy and using it. Just send it it back if it's so much garbage. At this point, the likelihood of anyone wanting to help you even with my same stuff is probably nill (except UDI since they have to).
