The RF is tied to the power line signal. With that said, the power line signal travels faster than the RF so RF only will be a tad slower.

I'd love to see them use the nokia line (renamed) vs bringing back the old stuff. Time to move forward vs holding onto the past. Insteon was sinking with the old line available. Prior to the last few years, many people lambasted insteon over the old line. Reality is, people have spoken and it's time to move on. Why bring old stuff back? Sure, you'll have quick sales while people stock up but nothing that will sustain them over time. As much as I supported them, i had already stopped buying insteon because the look has grown dated when compared to other modern offerings. Judging by all the devices available on eBay over the last few month, many others have moved on too. Either way it'll be some time device wise in regards to implementing changes. I'm sure all of their engineers and coders have moved on which means starting over with new people having to learn insteon. I'd love to see them make licensing deals but still question its worth overall. How many partners will jump on that band wagon when there are other technologies readily available and cheaper to implement.... Especially with matter on the horizon. I want to see them succeed but they have a long hard road ahead of them. Only time will tell what lessons were learned and if insteon can become viable again.

?. You don't see backup and restore in your screen shot
-
Your polisy doesn't have backup and restore options in the same place the Isy 994 has them?
-
Look at us trading places. I hope I'm wrong. When they finally release product we'll see.
-
No it does not. It's specifically for (excluding/including) removing a device from an old controller in order to add to a new one. Migrating is a different story which polisy doesn't support currently
-
It will be. Looks like some of the worst people (1 specifically) will be returning unfortunately.

You don't have to use the forum search. You found this subforum and pretty much every post since they shut down has been about what you've asked and has been kept here. @Geddydid a fantastic job of keeping them organized here so you don't have to search. Choose any of the top 5 or 6 posts, start from the end, and you'll have the most recent information that people have speculated on.
-
No one knows. It's all speculation. Did you actually try to search? The top 4 or 5 threads on this sub-forum is nothing but discussions of what you ask Since you read the information already on that website, you can also ask there.

I'd assume its the same reason why it's cheaper to buy chicken with the skin on it than without it. They're charging for doing the work and putting it together for you.
-
Judging by the name, I'd say S. America. With the additional details in regards to insteon help, possibly Brazil
-
Not necessarily. You can end up being stuck with what they want you to have vs whats actually possible
-
It's sound advice but 18" may be a bit much. Even with wifi routers, they say your device shouldn't be too close. @MrBillresponse hit the head squarely on the nail
-
If anything, I can see it stifle innovation. Why work to build a unique ecosystem when someone can just let Google, Amazon, and Crapple do the work
-
You can check on their forum. They haven't announced anything to my knowledge but matter isn't on my roadmap right now

You can purchase a zooz zwave stick and use that along with the simplicity studio PC controller software to update your devices. Buy the zooz USB stick from UDI since they said those who purchase it from them will get a full credit towards their new board. That way, once you buy your polisy, you'll already be ready with your other pieces
-
Keep in mind that having a repeater too close is just as bad as having one too far. There's a chance it may not even be used for repeating. If it is, you can also potentially be wasting a hop. For example, one of my outlets is a couple of feet from my controller. It's not a repeater to any of my devices. It's not a problem since it was out there for other purposes but just using that to show being close isn't a catch all

Nokia does not own insteon patents. Smartlabs owns the patents. The Nokia name was only licensed for their new product line. Michel has already stated he's bound by a NDA so he wouldn't be able to name any other companies and none has spoken up so anything in the future would be up to them and unknown to anyone outside the winnimg bidder. Yes, insteon will continue to be supported by polisy. It already supports it so i highly doubt UDI would make an about face and remove it after investing so much time and effort to add it. 5-10 years from now as the landscape changes, who's to say
-
I dont know if its been removed but x10 shows up in the program list like it does with the isy. I dont use x10 so I cant text. I think the module wasnt ported over so you cant give it a name like the before. You can always try it and see what happens.

Z-Wave devices replying multiple times after a Query?
lilyoyo1 replied to Wes Westhaver's topic in Z-Wave - Series 300/500
Insteon doesn't have anything to do with zwave. Zwave direct association does not work in that manner so what insteon does/did would have no bearing. -

That's not the popcorn effect. Has nothing to do with repeaters. It's the fact that each device responds 1 at a time vs simultaneously like insteon. For example, add 10 relays to a scene and each will turn off individually. Do the same with insteon and you'll hear a single click in unison. -
I think the first thing would be to set out to find a shutter controller that you'd be willing to use. Then it would be easier to find something that would work to control it. If you find some with built in smarts, check to see if they have an open API. If they do, someone may be able to build a Node server to control it (or use network resources). Maybe something has Alexa control where there may be a way to integrate that with the Isy using Alexa.
