  2. Ive been waiting too. I'm surprised it took this long. I'm glad it finally happened though so we can all move on from the speculation
  3. Universal devices and their ish/polisy has nothing to do with INSTEON and their hub. They are 2 separate controllers from 2 different companies. You can purchase an isy994 and use the INSTEON 2413s PLM in order to connect your devices and control them. Otherwise, you would purchase UDI's polisy (recommended) and use either a 2413s, 2413u, or 2448a7 to it to control your INSTEON devices. The hub would not have anything to do with either scenario
  4. Im with you in that I think their documentation can use some help. At the same time however, if you aren't keeping up with a system for years at a time, most likely you'll still struggle as no documentation is perfect for all users. The "experts" here are experts because we stay involved. Take a smartphone. If you've used a dumb phone all these years, how hard would it be to get used to what a Galaxy s22 can do? I go through this with family and friends often. I try to get them to buy things i use so that when they come to me for help, I know how to troubleshoot. It's an ongoing debate because they feel locked into my world but i tell them they aren't paying for my time so it's not fair that i have to take the time to research what they buy to fix their problems. The same applies here. Automation is complicated by nature. Yes, it works great and not something you have to worry about for the most part.....until you do. That's why being involved (not saying like most of us are) is important. So much can change in a short period of time, it'll be like starting over every single time. By staying involved, you keeping up with things as they change which makes transitioning much easier. Even caching forum answers isn't perfect. For starters, most people don't bother searching or reading information (look at the quantity of hub posts in the last 2 days), that's readily available. For those that do search, there can be 20 different fixes for what appears to be the same exact problem. Due to different factors, there isn't always a one size fits all fix. They have gotten better at highlighting the solutions on threads (thanks @Geddy), but that means someone still has to be willing to invest in the time to read and research (i found Google search using the terms I'm looking for easiest), which is something you just said you aren't sure if you're willing to do. In that case, even the clearest documentation wouldn't be helpful. As you've already seen, so much has changed in the last 6 months alone, it's going to take research. A lot of reading and testing to get caught up. The individual forums are laid out much better which is where i would start. Download the app. Connect to it and play with it. The more familiar you are with it, the more the things you read will make sense and answer a lot of your questions.

  6. That's just doublespeak. They're saying the devices work locally without the hub just like standard INSTEON. It goes through their servers like the regular hub. Since the hub servers are down, I would've assumed the Nokia hub servers would be shut down as well.
  7. I don't know. I assumed so. However, I just tested my Nokia hub and it still worked to turn on/off my lights. I turned my wifi off to ensure I was going through their servers and it works still
  8. He answered that before and seemed pretty adamant that they wouldn't be adding support for it. Maybe with them during down that may change. Would be nice
  9. I didn't like my experience with it. However, it's better than nothing. I'd get one to be safe while they're available and still cheap
  10. I doubt it since it's a controller itself. Has houselinc built in. Doesn't hurt to try to see if polisy recognizes it though
  11. A zwave dongle must be purchased in order to use zwave with polisy. It does not have a zwave radio built in at all.
  12. Speed control would defeat the purpose of vent fans. They're there to exchange a certain amount of volume of air efficiently. Slowing that down defeats that purpose. Ceiling fans allows for speed control because they're designed to make a person feel cooler which allows for adjustment to achieve the desired results
  13. Unfortunately, for all who use insteon, they have shut down their doors. This is especially hard for hub users as they did not keep their servers running. A member here is looking into reports that the hub can be used with Home Assistant. If so, do not reset your hub. Home-Assistant forums is where you will want to go. For all others, you can use UDI's Polisy with the 2413s, 2413u, and 2448a7, while available to control your INSTEON devices. Finally, you could also switch to zwave or other technologies for your home should you choose. Zwave works with polisy as well and does not require any type of INSTEON PLM. Outside of this information, we cannot provide much help to you with your system or troubleshooting. Good luck. @GeddyCan you sticky this and @MrBill post. In addition, is it possible to create a banner on the main page for INSTEON hub users pointing to this post so they aren't paying the same stuff all over the forums
  14. Yes it's possible. Add switches and program. No different than with lights. Vent fans are generally on/off so no speed control. The models that allow for different speeds generally have a switch built in to change the CFM. You wouldn't be able to control that
  15. That would be good if they can. He could add that info as well. The Smarthome section would work but i figured a banner would stand out more and get their attention

  17. I think @Geddyshould put the banner up letting hub users know insteon has shut down and we are unable to provide support for them. I've seen a couple of posts from hub users already. would be nice to add a note with the plms that work with Polisy and link to buy polisy
  18. They've shut down. No longer exist. Nothing we can do here for hub users. Your only recourse would be to purchase a polisy and the insteon USB stick 2448a7 (easily found on Amazon/eBay). If you happen to have an instructor 2413s or 2413u you can use that with polisy as well.
  19. I've replaced both lifx lightstrips I have in the 2 years I've been using them. Both took forever to be replaced. It was during COVID so it may be atypical of their usual procedure. However, it was enough that i wouldn't expand with them. I also feel like their app isn't as intuitive as the hue app is. I haven't had dropouts in regards to their app connection though I've had missed commands with the Node server. I hope it sticks around though as it does give more options and competition to keep hue pushing forward
  20. Provide details. Firmware and UI. How do you have things set up. What process did you use. Saying it doesn't work doesn't provide any information for us to use to help you
  21. You're out of luck. You'd need to dump the system or swap to something that supports insteon like polisy with an Insteon USB stick (unless you have a PLM).
