I think the problem is your if statement. To post a program, right click on the program and select copy to clipboard. In your post select the code icon and paste the program(s). I don't thin the remote link can have a status like you wrote. Maybe something like this If control remote A is on And status device is not 17% Then....

Try the device restore as lee suggested. I wonder if there is not some bizarre 8 button vs 6 button discrepancy.

Are you turning off scenes or individual devices. Do you have individual commands for each light? If so Try adding a 2 second wait in between each then command in the program. E Edit: Or create a scene including the three lights and then turn off that scene.

We were upstairs putting the children to bed at that time so I don't think so. One more thing. A secondary button on the new kpl I just installed in the laundry room was on this morning although that one could have been pressed accidentally.

I have an io linc for my elk WSV. There is a KPL button in the hallway that shows the status of the io linc sensor, set up as a scene including just the sensor and KPL button. At about 1130 last night I noticed that the KPL button was on. I checked the log and see where the KPL came on at about 832pm (bold text) but do not see anything that has triggered this. If the io linc sensor had come on then I would have received notification. The sensor should only come on when the valve closes. I think this happened one other time recently. The kpl button is not a member of any other scenes. Am I missing something. Just gremlincs? When you check the options after putting the MS into linking mode there is one option for sending on only. Meaning the motion sensor will trigger the lights on, but not turn them off. I think it is the second of the three check boxes. Use a scene to turn the lights on. Then use a program for the timer. I just installed my first MS after tinkering with it for over a week. Here is my program. When the lights are triggered by the MS or the KPL the timer starts. If the motion sensor retriggers then the timer restarts. I added the beep just to give notice that the lights are about to turn off. If Control 'Laundry Room / Laundry Motion Sensor-Sensor' is switched On Or Control 'Laundry Room / Laundry KPL6 (DB) Laundry Lig' is switched On Then Wait 30 minutes and 4 seconds Set 'Laundry Room / Laundry KPL6 (DB) Laundry Lig' 8 (Beep Duration) Wait 10 seconds Set Scene 'Laundry Room / Laundry Lights' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')

Here is mine, although maybe I will change it to go on at sundown. I have a "sleep" button that turns off bathroom and bedroom lights and the KPL backlight.: If From 8:35:00PM To 11:00:06PM (same day) Then Set 'Master Bedroom / Master Bedroom Devices / Master His KPL - A lights' On 10 / Off 5 (Backlight Level) Else Set 'Master Bedroom / Master Bedroom Devices / Master His KPL - A lights' On 7 / Off 0 (Backlight Level)

The set responder on level is in the program. All controllers are also responders. Use the program above.

And use deep electrical boxes.

I use a folder for each room or area. Then I have a sub folder for devices and one for scenes. I'll have to check my isy but I typically use the room name to start the device name. Ex: master lights. If dual band I have added (DB). I do like the concept of adding switch or dimmer. My standard name would indicate that it is a switchlinc. I do add kpl6 or kpl8 to device names, ex master his kpl8. I have added lamplincs or appliance Linc where indicated. Starting the device name with the room name or at least an abbreviation of it makes it much easier to select it for a program if needed. I may have to shorten up to some abbreviations because some of my names start getting long for kpl buttons.

I think any ups would work if you piggy back an access point into the io linc. The insteon signal may or may not make it thru the ups, but rf to the access point should be ok. I would consider a ups with a pure sine wave since there have been posts about insteon not working properly without a pure sign wave. Most of these discussions were in reference to generators since you are not supposed to put insteon gear any where need a ups.

Lee, you wrote "- If my front door opens and hidden door sensor goes off, my front foyer light goes on for 5 minutes then off again. This can't be done from a scene, because the way a scene would control this would be "When the door is OPEN, the light is on, and when the door is CLOSEd the light is off." So not possible to say "For 5 minutes then turn off again" etc." You can set the hidden door sensor into a two node mode, which I have done for our basement door. This way opening the door turns the lights on with a scene, but closing it does not turn them off. You could do this for the on, then use a program to turn the lights off after 5 min. Might need two programs.

Not an expert, but use scenes when possible. Devices respond faster when using a scene since there is direct device to device communication rather than waiting for the ISY to run the program and send out commands to devices. If you have three controllers of say your kitchen lights, then definitely create a scene. Having devices in scenes can also help to make programming easier. Let's say you want the kitchen lights to turn on at 7am on a timer and there are those three devices in the scene. Then your program is If time is 7am then set scene kitchen lights on. If you dont have a scene, the then would require three lines, one on command for each device. If you add another controller for the kitchen lights, say a KPL button, then you just need to add the button to the scene. Since your program turns on the scene, no need to add another line to it. Lights respond to the hidden door sensor much faster with a scene than a program. For timers, conditional logic, and notifications (if door is open then notify) you of course need programs.

Jeff, The sensor of the io linc is triggered by a connection between the sense and ground wires, basically completing a circuit between the two. This is why others and I have suggested using plain wires to trouble shoot. If the motion sensor isfunctioning by putting out 1.5v then it will not work the way you have it wired. I did a search for a 1.5v relay and this does not look like an easy solution. I use the 12v put out by the elk water valve to close an automotive relay, completing a circuit between the ground and sense terminals on an io linc. What type of motion sensor do you have. Eric
-
If the sensor light is on the isy should be able to see this. Are you looking at the sensor or the relay status for the io linc in the admin console. Maybe use two wires for the G and sensor inputs for the io linc that you can connect together instead of the motion sensor to make it easier to trouble shoot this.
-
The purpose of the motion sensor is to turn the lights on if someones hands are holding a laundry basket. Also to turn them off after a period of time since they seem to get left on. If Control 'Laundry Room / Laundry Motion Sensor-Sensor' is switched On Or Control 'Laundry Room / Laundry KPL6 (DB) Laundry Lig' is switched On Then Wait 45 minutes and 4 seconds Set Scene 'Laundry Room / Laundry Lights' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
-
I also want the lights to turn off if they are triggered by the switch. Should I just add to the if: or Control laundry lights is switched on Any motion should re trigger the program and keep the lights on. Have to maintain the WAF and don't want the lights turning off on her.

I replaced my two wire sensor with the secolarm 3 wire sensor for this purpose.
-
Thanks, that is how I have it set but will have to check again on the time. Eric

Right click on the program name in the admin console and select copy to clipboard. Post the program, select code and paste in the the Pop up box.

I bought my first motion sensor for the laundry room. I want to use it to turn the lights on only. I want the lights to turn off with a program after a set amount of time. Re-triggering the motion sensor should reset the program. Just moving jumper 4 to on only mode did not work, the lights still turned off after a minute or two. (I am controlling a bench top KPL for now.) I checked the motion sensor options in the admin console and unchecked the on only mode box (on commands only). That seems to have worked. I set the timeout to 2 minutes which seems the shortest it will accept. What about sensing mode? Any advice is appreciated. If Control 'Laundry Room / Laundry Motion Sensor-Sensor' is switched On Then Wait 25 minutes and 4 seconds Set Scene 'Laundry Room / Laundry Lights' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')

The lost mailbox motion sensor has me thinking about a sensor to let us know if a package has been delivered. I have found some pressure sensor mats that I think I could hook up to an io linc. Maybe I could rig something with a hidden door sensor or open close sensor. Maybe just set up a hidden door, sensor outside with a press here if you are delivering a package. Any thoughts on this..

So far I have not had any other problems with my leak sensors without the wait added in. Eric
-
If you want to incorporate the other room then you will need two more programs to satisfy the light status permutations. On On On Off Off On Off Off

Ray doc, There are some issues with the leak sensors that the programs in this thread take care of. I have considered the home made water sensor from the open close like you have. I think you just need program like this: If pump sensor is off And water sensor is on Then send notification Make a custom notification "check pump, water level is high" I am not sure if your open close sensor has a heartbeat function. If yes then you can incorporate some of the programs and variables in this thread to monitor it. Regarding the "latching" I think there are some options. One would be to then disable the program in the then, after the notification. A second program would then be needed to enable the program. If status sensor is off Then enable program. Another option might be to add a wait after the notification. Hopefully one of the real experts will chime in. Eric
