Thanks. Once again I am educated by the experts. I didn't know that parenthses served that purpose.

I want the BuzzLinc to buzz 3 times when either of 3 hidden door sensors are open between sunset and sunrise the next day. The buzzer sounds whenever a door is opened, i.e., it is unrestricted as to the timeframe. What am I doing wrong? If From Sunset To Sunrise (next day) And Status 'Door Sensors / Deck Door Sensor' is On Or Status 'Door Sensors / Kitchen Door Sensor' is On Or Status 'Door Sensors / Man Cave Door Sensor' is On Then Repeat 3 times Set 'BuzzLinc' On Set 'BuzzLinc' 2 (Beep Duration) Set 'BuzzLinc' Off Else Set 'BuzzLinc' Off

We have used the Mac since 1986. Today, wife and I have 2 iPhones, an iPad, and iMac and a MacBook Pro. We are, however, not in lockstep with Apple. We use the technology that best suits our needs. For example, we are not interested in a watch that requires us to carry a phone in our pockets! Nor, are we interested in having the most recent device simply for the sake of having it. We migrated from the HUB to the ISY and have not looked back. In fact, we have 2 ISYs, each at different locations. They are rock solid, powerful devices that, coupled with MobiLinc on our iPhones, allow us amazing control over our homes. If the HUB or HomeKit best fits your needs, then that is what you should own. However, I would recommend keeping the ISY until you are certain you have made the best choice.

Problem resolved. I had the polarity reversed. Thanks.

I placed a jumper across GND and N/O on an IOLinc (#2450) and a piezoelectric buzzer (21N30PQ) connected to 5V and COM. The IOLinc linked first try. Turning the device on produced an audible click but no buzzer. Not being familiar with the IOLinc, is there a potential polarity issue since the buzzer has positive and negative posts? Any suggestions?
  6. I am now convinced that the applet cannot be selected in this manner.
  7. Yes, Teken. But the Admin Console does not display among the choices.
  8. Nothing important, Michel. I was just playing with this feature in Yosemite and could not use it to open the Console. Sorry for the bother.
  9. Is is it possible to do this? How?
  10. Thanks very much. Another exemplary example of UDI's customer service.
  11. Allow me to add another accolade. I have never purchased anything for which I have received better service. Between this forum and ISY representatives no problem has been too large or too complex.
  12. I may be helpful to cautious Mac/Yosemite/ISY users such as myself to know how this was resolved.

i\In your directions: "A jumper across GND and N/O on an IOLinc and a piezoelectric buzzer (21N30PQ) from Mouser connected to 5V and COM, voila, an Inseton BuzzLinc. The jumper is a wire connected to both GND and N/O. I used two long nosed pliers and my fingers to gently widen the space between the piezoelectric buzzer pegs/wires, one peg at a time. Push one peg slightly outward with your fingers, then the other. Continue until the distance is wider than what you want. Using one pair of pliers, grip the peg nearest the buzzer leaving as much of the peg exposed as you can. Use the other pair of pliers to bend the free end inward. Do the same with the other peg." Is the jumper mentioned above the connected pegs?
  14. That sounds great, Michel. I hope the upgrade to 5.0 for those of us who are Mac/Yosemite users will be seamless. I have yet to upgrade to the most recent release because of some reported Mac issues.

Stusviews: Less expensive to have a few spares. P&H is very expensive on small, relatively inexpensive items. I am going to use two to alert for door openings. I considered flashing overhead lights but this seemed a far better option. I will let you know how it goes.

Stusviews: Understood. That is one of the reasons I purchased more than one, thinking I might break one bending the leads.
  17. Thanks, Lee.

Is it technically feasible/possible for an ISY to control a device on another ISY? For example, could a door sensor on one ISY control an I/O Linc on another ISY?

stusviews: Thanks, I ordered 3 from Mouser. I look forward to building a Buzzlinc or 2 or 3!

Thanks, Brian. I will continue my search.

stusviews: In the past you posted a clever setup to create a buzzer notification system. Mouser no loner carries the 21n30p. Will these work in your setup? http://www.ebay.com/...=item35da85bcf1
  22. Mine is getting better, but I have had a few devices fail, requiring replacement. Also, it is not uncommon to have to do a reset, either soft or hard to fix a problem. The Insteon wireless thermostat was a significant challenge until I came up with a program to address the issue. Although Insteon cameras aren't really Insteon, and I don't use them with the ISY, they have been a huge disappointment since I updated their firmware to address a security issue. They require routine rebooting. The setup/operating instructions for some devices are vague at best. Were it not for this board I would have many other challenges. That said, I have never had a single problem with the ISY and I am happy with Insteon. I have no regrets. I just would not want to mislead anyone that starting down this path is without considerable challenges.
  23. I can somewhat relate to your frustration because Insteon is definitely not "set it and forget it". However, having said that, automation has allowed me to to monitor entries and the temperature at a remote location with photos and email alerts. It allows me also to control external and internal lighting leaving the appearance that the place is occupied. Finally, it even runs a "fake" tv enhancing the illusion of occupancy. At my home, it does the same things plus it controls about 20 Christmas devices, including several old x-10 modules. Where my wiring was lacking it allowed me to create wireless circuits. When I get ready for bed, I press a PLM button and it turns the light off in that room and two others on allowing me to safely navigate some stairs. In the bedroom I press a KPL button and all lights are turned off except two exterior lights which are turned off a half hour before daylight. I could go on and on. I love the system. I am 70 years old and the learning curve is steep but with the help of the wonderful experts at this site I get the help I need to make life easier and safer.
  24. Thanks, Teken. I missed that. I successfully transitioned from the default server. I had not been able to do that previously.
  25. I lost email notifications as well. This should be displayed as a sticky ASAP.
