Electricity does not travel at the speed of light. electrons travel at the speed of light. But like the water in a house travels a x feet per second, and can take a full minute to go through the hose, the water coming out of a hose is instantaneous when you turn the valve on, with a full hose. Electrical conductors are full of electrons and when a new one tries to push it's way into the conductor, an existing one pops out the other end, at the same time. Resistance is futile, You too, will be assimilated.

Mine have taken 3-12 tries to link properly. Congrats on being stubborn!

Just pre-ordered 4 Black and 2 white Echo Dots. Christmas gifts for kids and 6 year olf granddaughter. She was emphatuated with our Echo, messing up our shopping lists, and constantly playing kids music exerpts! These things are also great for kids going to school to check their math and other learning interests, like geography and science.

LOL. I have been spending my ISY lifetime trying to get rid of keys and fobs and tracking devices and use ISY for home automation. Yeah, there is still some remote control in me, 'cause I didn't think out the automation logic enough to handle every contingency yet. Until then we need Fobs and work-arounds. No Insteon but many other systems that can patch into ISY. I have quite a few X10 units in a box from the 80s. I did use some up until about this year. For a vehicle you want a longer range too. Insteon RF hasn't been that good on some distances for me.

That depends what is on the bed!

You are right. My mini remote is larger than my keyfob too. Who has a keychain anymore? Who carries any keys for a vehicle or their house locks? Welcome to the 2st century. OTOH: Who pushes buttons on a keyfob, or even takes it out of their pocket until they hang their pants up at night? Wife never takes hers out of her purse.

I agree with giesen above. This may change depending on experience in two years. UDI hasn't made a habit out of gouging the user base in the past..

Just be very careful of the sticking to the ceiling drywall. The ceiling paint wad probably not cured when the ring was compressed into it and will tend to tear the surface paper back.

Insteon Wireless Thermostat power supply recommendations
larryllix replied to rafarataneneces's topic in ISY994
AC power doesn't change the way the Insteon wireless updates except for humidity uses a faster update time cycle. -
This can be done by modifying the wiring in the both light switch boxes and the last fixture. The last fixture wiring changes must be done to not violate wiring colour codes badly. If you have potlights they almost always can be unscrewed from their racking mechanism with screws from the inside of the can, pulled down out of the drywall/frame on the wiring and the box lid snapped open. The white neutral would have to be continued by connecting to the last fixture white and the black and red reversed to how they are connected now. then you colours should be correct to the tail end switchlinc. The entrance switchlinc would need to be arranged to meet standard wiring practice colours with black connected to continue it and red on the switchlinc capped off. If you can get the last can pulled down to access the wiring then I am sure it can be sleuthed from there and made to work, provided the wiring turns out to be as pictured posted.

Post #28 he stated it is as per picture and attached it.He hasn't answered your Q about 2 x 2c yet though. Keep digging for accuracy of diagram.
-
Stu. He is removing 3-way mechanical switches and installing single-contact Insteon switches. The wiring always has to be changed, so I missed your point on that one. He will have to change some connections on the right fixture to make it understandable and probably to code.
-
First forget the three way with Insteon. It doesn't exist. What you want in the end is - white neutral to go to each switchlinc White and each bulb white screw. - black hot to both switchlinc blacks - one switchlinc Red to feed the lights via Reds or blacks - other switchlinc red capped off. The logical Or switching is done with Insteon scenes where both switches On/Off control as scene that turns on the loaded (red connection) switchlinc -
-
According to the manual hold it in until the buzzing stops (about 10 seconds)
-
Have you factory reset your KPL at the KPL, and then Restored it from ISY?
-
The KPL LEDS are only controlled via scenes so you would have to find your scene and drag the B button out of it.
-
SwitchLincs have a preset On level that you can program into the switch. Either use dim to 100%, fast On, reprogram the level in the device page, or hold the SwitchLinc up button until the level is set to full On, but this could happen again later. I have several of my SwitchLinc dimmers do this and I have installed programs to force them to 100% when they see an On control signal.
-
Add the KPL button LED to the scene with the other devices. It will come on when the scene is On.
-
Great and good to hear! With ISY these things are so easy and take about 1.389 minutes.
-
Does that indicate what model you have somehow?I have only had an ISY994 for about 2+ year now and never saw any other models.
-
Does Firmware Version 3.3.10 necessarily indicate he is not using an ISY994 ?

Smarthome "Sale" for Labor Day on Echo (not really)
larryllix replied to Schroeder's topic in Amazon Echo
My son had some University students visiting from Australia that hung around our house for a few months. Never having seen squirrels we took them to the park and showed them some. Being from Oz, they always had some good BS tales to tell me and we bantered back and forth a lot, but they were too smart mostly, until (not 'till') I finally convinced them we enjoyed chocolate covered squirrel bits as a confectionary. -
Smarthome "Sale" for Labor Day on Echo (not really)

Dog-sled? I thoughy that was what Americans called "drop-shipping"....Fido...DROP IT! Geeezzzz! ...and I put out some biscuits too. It isn't stuck in the Customs igloo either. Hasn't been processed yet. Ordered an Insteon Insteon to iR converter that was on sale, OnOff modules, SwitchLinc, and MS. All the special production stuff. -
Maybe the load loads down the powerline transmitter and "settles down" the powerline signal, making it more coherent and less saturated/noisy.

Smarthome "Sale" for Labor Day on Echo (not really)

Anybody else seen any movement on orders placed during this sale? SH 4-7 day shipping turns out to be AFTER they actually ship it. What did I expect? It would actually be significant and meaningful? Ordered Sept 2, Nothing processed yet, Sept 15.
