Cannot add device to ISY994i
The ISY only works with the Serial PLM. But that shouldn't be an issue, Paul

Cannot add device to ISY994i
Another question, how did you bridge all legs of your existing electrical system when you set up houselinc? Signallinc passive bridges? Dual band devices verified with the "4 tap test" It would be worth "4 tap testing" the devices your are trying to add if they are dual band Paul

Cannot add device to ISY994i
Gottcha... I was counting the hub as a plm. That's what I had on Homeseer when I converted. If you are using the "Remove Existing Links" when Adding the insteon devices, having the Hub plugged in should not be a problem. And as a dual band device, might be supporting the network. Is your PLM plugged in very close to the Hub and sits right next to it? Paul

Cannot add device to ISY994i
Hops left of 0 is ugly. It suggests a communication problem. If you went with 2 PLMs, where did you locate the ISY's PLM? Ideally near the electrical panel in the center of the network? Paul

Can't control device with scene, but direct control works
FWIW, I would suggest that if you're just getting started with your ISY, dive into some of the other features of the ISY that get you automating. How Insteon & scenes work "under the hood" is a worthy area of learning, but for later. Investing time in it right now will not give you dividends as much as learning about the ISY's programming environment, modules, etc I would remember this technique for future situations that are similar, eg devices that respond partially but not fully. Restore device or factory resetting and restoring devices, in that order, are both relatively easy to do in most cases and solve a lot of problems. Paul

Can't control device with scene, but direct control works
You're welcome, glad it worked. Restore device copies the isy onboard version of links back to the device. These links tell the device the plm's and other devices links so that they talk to each other. It's something to try when you have problems like you describe initially. Can't control device with scene, but direct control works
Hi Chris and welcome to the UDI Forums Try a "restore device" to one of the keypads and repeat your test on its keys... right click on the kepad in the main device tree and select restore device. Paul

Converting large install from Houselinc
Hi and welcome to the UDI forums! I came from Homeseer a few years ago and faced with a similar challenge. My network is smaller, around 50 devices. I tried the discovery method on a test group of devices, but found that I couldn't always make sense of the scenes that were built. I "built from scratch" However, I kept both systems running and moved devices in groups to the ISY in phases. I picked groups of related devices that supported specific functions like landscape & yard lighting, virtual circuits in one room, etc. I cut them over groups at a time, rebuild functionality, test functionality and move on. The more I did it, the better I got at it and it went more quickly. You do need 2 PLMs to accomplish this, one for HL and one for ISY. If you keep a backup PLM it can be pressed into service for this effort, or this could be the reason to get one. With that many devices, I think a "big bang" conversion will be difficult. Paul

Motion Sensor Sensitivity
Mines been out there since 2012. Rarely have problems with falses, Birds will set it off

Motion Sensor Sensitivity
That is correct. Jumper 1 does work with jumper 5 in place. It scrapes off about 33% of distance and works, at least for me. My deck/back yard/drive MS has full side to side coverage that includes the street. The x10 eagle eye worked pretty well in this position, but when I put the Insteon MS up there, every person walking by on the side walk and cars driving by on my side of the street set it off. Really annoying. I put on jumper one and its really good. The yard, deck and driveway only set it off now Paul

Monitoring Temperature/Humidity
Ageed that the lack of continuous temp/humidity reading from insteon products has been annoying. The technical aspects of it are supported today in the insteon thermostat... multiple device nodes for temp (C of F) and humidity. A sensor can be built around that capability with an alarm grade CR123 battery. I'm missing the continuous temp and humidity reading for my attic from the Applied Digital Oclelot and Bobcat sensors X10 i had 15 years ago. This is the specific item to view / vote for temp and humidity posted by Teken is here: http://forum.insteon.com/forum/main-category/new-insteon-device-wish-list/7354-multi-sensor

Factory Reset of Outlet
There's this from the full manual: If the placement of OutletLinc makes the first method too difficult, try manually resetting the unit with the following instructions: 1) If you are using a Controller to control OutletLinc, be sure to Unlink it from the Controller. See Unlinking OutletLinc from an INSTEON Controller. 2) Tap the Set button on OutletLinc until the load is on 3) Press & hold the Set button on OutletLinc for 3 seconds The OutletLinc Status LED will begin blinking 4) Wait 3 seconds and then tap the Set button on OutletLinc five times quickly The OutletLinc Status LED and the load will turn off 5) Immediately after the LED turns off, press & hold the button for 3 seconds and then release The OutletLinc Status LED will flash once and then turn off A few seconds later, the Status LED will turn on solid Not sure if it works on this model or not. Its annoying, but less annoying than cutting the breaker and worth a try. Paul

Motion sensor low battery notification
Stan That's exactly why I did it. When I used email I'd have outlook.com file the messages in special folders, but then there was not an easy way to see all log activities in event order. The app has special notification sounds for different messages. It took some patience for the first one.. but after you get the first one figured out, the remaining ones are copy and paste, more or less. Paul

Motion sensor low battery notification
Stan I watched others use it, spent some time learning it and gradually switching over. The good news is that its all the same alert programs in my ISY, Its a matter of where I send a notification. You can look at the pushover app and decide if you like it. There are a number of competing apps as well. Here is the 'how to' from the wiki https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i_Series_INSTEON:Networking:Mobile_Notification Paul

Motion sensor low battery notification
Hi Stan No, I've only owned a 994i. The resource is used because over time I changed from using text/email notifications (which I believe the 99i supports) to the Pushover notification app. It integrates all messages as a single log, or organized in groups (HVAC, Sprinkler, Alarm, garage, etc notifications). I communicate with Pushover via the internet using a REST API call that can only be done via a Network resource Paul

Motion sensor low battery notification
Here is an example Battery Motion Sensor Driveway - [ID 001A][Parent 0019] If Control (Old) 'Zystem / Battery Alerts / Driveway Motion-Sensor-Low Ba' is switched On Then Resource 'Pushover ISY Log - Driveway MS Battery' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') It says "Control (Old)" because I am V5.04... If you are on V4, use "Control". Paul

Honeywell Thermostats?
There is also integration with ISY V5 Firmware and Nodelink... that requires an external light windows or linux server. It can be used in combination with IFTTT http://forum.universal-devices.com/forum/116-honeywell-tcc/ Paul

A folder
I accomplish a simiar thing by having one program that turns things on and two that turns them off The "on" program always turns them on under the same conditions, dusk.. also can be turned on with a double click from 2 switches. The "off" programs control 2 scenes.. one with all premise lights, landscape lights, lamps and decor, and one that only has exterior lights and lamps. It runs another program to check and see if its the days surrounding Christmas, if it is, it uses the "Yard lights and lamps off -xm" scene so that the tree, decor items and Christmas yardlights stay on all night, but the lamps and premise lights are still turned off. Its 2 relatively small programs, so i don't have separate folders and folder conditions. The trickier part is, to get the month / day only, so it works the same way every year with no changes, I had to use io_guy's ISYlink software either V4 isylink, or v5 nodeserver. I'm not sure how to do that in V4 without isylink... on v4 it will simply update 2 variables you specify each day.. it will be the same thing with folders Here are the "off" programs. This runs every day at 1am, .. it first checks to see if its Christmas Lights and Lamps Off - [ID 0005][Parent 0006] If Time is 1:00:00AM Or Time is Sunrise Then $Christmas_Holiday_Month = 'Zystem / isydata' Month (V5 statement, but can be done in V4 with ISYlink) $Christmas_Holiday_Day = 'Zystem / isydata' Day of Month (V5 statement, but can be done in V4 with ISYlink) Run Program 'Lights and Lamps off Xmas' (If) Wait 15 minutes (Random) Set Scene 'Yard / Yard and Lamp Security / Yard light and lamps off' Off Check to see if its the days surrounding Christmas Lights and Lamps off Xmas - [ID 004A][Parent 0006][Not Enabled] If $Christmas_Holiday_Month is 12 (Is it the right month/ days?) And $Christmas_Holiday_Day >= 23 (If yes run this program, if no return) And $Christmas_Holiday_Day <= 27 Then Wait 15 minutes (Random) Set Scene 'Yard / Yard and Lamp Security / Yard light and lamps off - xm' Off Stop program 'Lights and Lamps Off' (Keep the original program from completign)

New Motion Sensor Info
Nice find! Thank you Interesting that the message repeats are USB only. If swapped with a current model unit, and left battery powered, I wonder how many ALL ON users might be helped with this? External set up button... that will help some when tweaking scenes, or factory resetting a related switch/device Still indoor/out door... I hope that the precision of the fit of plastic components has been reviewed and improved. It took me few years to learn to superglue over the right joints to keep the rain out of the current model. Sensor / Alarm grade CR123A battery... that should keep it happy for a few years and avoid a lot of latter climbing... though the page says 6 - 18 month battery life... hmmm. Since I have a number of them for my SimpliSafe sensors, it makes the argument for rechargeable. This sounds promising, but not going to lie, I am always a bit skeptical about new products. It won't say and we won't know ahead of time if it will misbehave on low battery. Will it be the same interface, or be yet another new API and UDI will have to wait to get it so it can be used? No manual yet..... If its clear that it can be installed on the ISY and no surprises in the manual, I will put one side by side with my existing under deck 'critter detector' and see how it fairs Paul

This is strictly insteon. What is wrong with my KPL switches?
Because that puts them nearer to the 2011 time frame, that is most likely it. I lost 2 installed from that time as well, but it was several years ago. Interesting that both of mine we out around the same time too Paul

Set two scene schedules in same program
Hey Stan A little more tweaking based on that change, adding parens. If ( From 5:00:00PM To 11:59:00PM (same day) Or From 5:00:00AM To 7:00:00AM (same day) ) And ( Status 'Dining Room Slider-Opened' is On ) And ( Status 'Family Room Slider-Opened' is On Or Status 'Basement French Door-Opened' is On ) Then Set Scene 'Rear 4-Way' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Let's story board what this change does, the program only runs when: Its bewteen the two schedules Dinning room slider is open One of the Family Room Slider or the Basement French door is opened Paul

Set two scene schedules in same program
Hi Stan I would start by using parens to contain the "or". Start by picking "or()...." at the bottom right of the screen, and us the "Move up" button to move the open paren to the top. This will mean one of these 2 has to be true, which is what I think you mean time wise. If ( From 5:00:00PM To 11:59:00PM (same day) or From 5:00:00AM To 7:00:00AM (same day) ) And Status 'Dining Room Slider-Opened' is On And Status 'Family Room Slider-Opened' is On And Status 'Basement French Door-Opened' is On Then Set Scene 'Rear 4-Way' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') A note: The "and"s in the remaining lines of the program all have to be true for the program to work... do you mean any of them - use "or", or all of them - use "and" Paul

This is strictly insteon. What is wrong with my KPL switches?
Did you try a "Factory Reset" of the switches, and use "Restore Device" by right-clicking on them in the admin console? Factory Reset: 1) Pull Set button out (creating an Air Gap) 2) Wait 10 Seconds 3) Push Set Button in and Hold it in ~ 10 secondsKeypadLinc will (Beep) 4) Release the Set button Paul

This is strictly insteon. What is wrong with my KPL switches?
If it exhibits the same behavior after trying Teken's suggestion. try a factory reset and Restore device from the admin console. I had this happen a few weeks ago and that fixed it. Paul

Using an Insteon PAR38 in a flood to detect motion
Depending what your requirement is, you might be able to use a standard bulb and sneak a micro module with 'sense' in the fixture. When it senses the light on or off it could switch states locally and then update the PLM... which in turn could activate a scene, run ISY programs, etc. This is an idea only, I don't know how big the fixture is or how available the wiring to the lights is, eg wire nuts that could be accessed to add the micro module Paul
