  1. Mike, Thanks, I sent it to your attention. I appreciate your help! Rich
  2. Actually I have the info now (logged into the router). Do I send my IP, username & password? Any subject I should use?
  3. Mike, Its been a while since I did this. Can you tell me how to find my IP address? I know its static. I will just put that IP in my DMZ & send the info. Thanks, Rich
  4. Hi Mike, I have tried on two different PC's with teh same results: both PC's I cleared the cache for Java PC 1 has IE 7 (and worked with ISY earlier this evening before the upgrade) PC 2 has IE 8 (and worked with ISY earlier this evening before the upgrade) I am also unable to add new linked devices. I would prefer to have it work as it did before (the lighting was fine but I wanted to remove & readd my motion sensors). Any ideas on what to do next? There is no plus mark for me to have the items "drop down" from the list to control. Thanks, Rich EDIT: I have the same results on both PC's.
  5. Hi, I upgraded from 2.6.x to 2.75 a few minutes ago. The strange thing is my ISY99 shows a tab called network which does show all my devices status, but the place where there used to be a drop down of the individual devices is gone. Of course I didnt do a backup (I tried but it kept failing). Anyway, I didnt have much on my ISY so I dont mind starting from scratch. I bought a triggerlinc & i want to give that a go. So, how do I do a 'factory reset' with 2.75? Or with the image below, how do I get it to show my network of Insteon again? Thanks, Rich
  6. I have a few scenes (all out) (my lighting) (Outside) That all uses those items. Should I factory reset that outside front light that dims to 50%? I also am unsure why ISY doesnt see that the front light change from 100% to 50% (my estimate on brightness).
  7. Hi, I have four devices: Front Porch Front Lights Backyard Lights Deck Lights All in a scene called "Outside". When I press the front porch light (controller) the other three lights (responders) should all turn on. Basically one light turns all the outside lights on or off. I had originally set this manually (linked by hand). I then wanted to control it all through ISY. I deleted the links & created that outside scene. I started to notice that after I turned the porch light on, the "front" lights dim to what looks like 50% but the ISY seems to think its 100%. Any ideas how to fix this? EDIT1: This is all local at the switch. Thanks, Rich EDIT: I deleted the scene, then pressed the porch on button (locally) & only the porch turned on, I added the scene again & again the front lights come on, then dim.
  8. Hrmm, I have done that & I still see the red light. 1. Setup Motion Sensor with ISY. 2. 2 hours later, change jumper 2 to "on" 3. Press white button (same as the programming button) Nothing changes. Should I pull the battery?
  9. Hi, I am having a few issues with my 2420M sensor. I did add it to ISY & it shows the status (Battery & dusk dawn dont do anything). 1. It doesnt show up on my "devices" page in the HTML layout (but it is in the admin section). 2. I also set jumper 2 to the "jumped" position assuming it would stop that red flashing light (it has not). 3. One other thing, I have a Hawkeye X10 motion sensor for Homeseer. The way it works is it sends constant on commands which Homeseer sees, if there is no motion it stops sending on commands. I dont want to use the unit without ISY programming so I dont want that countdown turned on (how do I turn that off)? Thanks, Rich
  10. Michel, I was curious if there were any updates to the possibility of the W800 serial expander? Thanks, Rich
  11. Maybe this is more of a garage question. I think that my sensors (that stop the door from closing) might not be working right more than people not closing the door.
  12. Hi, What is the autocloser? Can you send me a link? Thanks, Rich
  13. Can I do that with a W800?
  14. Hi, Again my garage door was left open & I think I am ready to get that hooked into my insteon network. I would like to be able to monitor that door with the new triggerlinc (wireless door contacts). While I know the triggerlinc isnt out yet, is the idea that using the ISY, I could see that the garage door is open (thanks to the triggerlinc) and then open / close it with the I/O linc? I see they sell a garage I/O Kit, but I would prefer the wireless contacts (they they dont stink). Thanks, Rich
  15. Hi, Once again, my garage door was left open & then my Homeseer server crashed. Of course the ISY was working fine so I was able to log into that. Is there a way to monitor doors that might be open? I know SH is coming out with something soon but I hate to beta test their products. Any ideas? As I normally use DS10A's to monitor the status. Can the ISY recieve those X10 commands? Thanks, Rich
  16. So it sounds like the remotelinc is pretty limited. I guess I can do all the programming I like but the all on, off (the biggest buttons on it) will always do all the links (everything in the house in my case).
  17. So, you can do it but it might not be worthwhile. Does this mean a program runs at 11pm each night, every light is reprogrammed to the 6 second ramp rate. Then at 6am a new program is launched to reprogram everthing to .1 seconds?
  18. Hi, I have a remotelinc that I just got. I am having fun playing with it. 1. Does the "all on / all off" button have to control anything linked to the remotelinc? 2. I would like to set one button for an all on / all off at a ramp rate of 15 seconds (is that possible)? 3. I would like to have one button for the first floor, one button for the basement & not have the all on button turn the entire house out. How are you guys using the remotelincs & how do you write on the buttons (custom from SH)? Thanks, Rich
  19. Hi, Right now most of my ramp rates are .1 second (instant on). I would like to set it so that all lights in the house ramp up over 6 seconds after 11pm until 6am. Is that possible or a huge problem? I know to change ramp rates you need to do the air gap trick so I dont know if this would work. Thanks, Rich
  20. Hi, I am having an issue with my ISY99. When I log into my ISY using the HTML page on a PC, everything is fine. I log in to the "main" screen which has the full list of all my Insteon devices (each device has the name & "On" & "Off"). Each device has a "sub" screen when you click on the device name which gives you "on" "off" "Fast On" "Fast Off" , etc. When I am on a PC & click on the "main" screen then choose On or Off (for my dining room for example), the lights turn on & off appropriately. If I go into the "Sub" they also work just fine. When I am on either my Windows Mobile 6 Treo 800w or my WM6 Dell Axim X50V on the "main" screen, if I click "On" or "Off" the page reloads (letting me know the click has been acknowledged) but nothing happens to the device, or the status. If I click onto the devices "Sub" window (the device itself with all the options), everything works fine - clicking on the buttons results in lights going on or off. Any ideas what to do? I spoke to Technical support but they do not have Windows Mobile devices to troubleshoot. Its baffling that it works on the sub page, but not the main page. Thanks, Rich
  21. Mike, Thanks for being so helpful in straightening me out. I had a few more questions: 1. I have never set ramp rates before & didnt know you could tap or double tap a switch. When playing with ramp rates, should that be done at the device level or the scene level? 2. I went to my page: http://192.168.1.105:60158 & its saying I need java but I am using a WM6 PPC (Treo 800w). Any ideas on how to get the to the regular HTML Interface? 3. So in my kitchen I have two lights (Table / Sink). Both were manually cross linked to each other. Are they both controllers & Responders? Is a Controller capable of being a load device as well (EG: Exit SL turns garage light off & runs scene to turn everything off). 4. Is it possible to have a delay such as KPL A is the controller to a no load device that shuts off all lights in the house. Can I have it that 10 seconds after I press the buttons the whole hosue goes dark, or (even better) that it takes 60 seconds for the lights to all ramp down to 0 (assuming the relays go right out in that case)? 5. Do I need to use port 443? I ask because I have other open ports from my ISP i would prefer to use (443 is in use by another application I use). When I changed my info to 192.168.1.150, 255.255.255.0, 192.168.1.1, DNS set up, shouldnt the device have seen it was able to be online? Or does the ISY not actually go online (meaning someone just comes in to connect to it). 6. Im not sure where to find the firmware (my ISY-99 IR is a (1030)). CWP did not work Product: (1030) ISY 99i 256 IR App: Insteon_UD99 Platform: ISY-C-99 Version: 1.0.0 Build Date: 2007-12-17-22:37:34 Other Services: - Programs Enabled - IR Enabled Thanks, Rich
  22. Is there a list of what firmware revisions can handle which features? I want to make sure i am not missing something good. I am mostly curious about KPL, SL. (Mostly) Any ideas why some SL's start with On & others with Fast On? BTW, I dont know what double tapping the bottom of a switch would do (it does nothing on mine)? I started by just enabling Internet access in the Java based admin applet, I get an error that it cant connect. I then telnet'ed in & I changed the IP to my desired internal IP, Netmask was 255.255.255.0, Gateway is my router (192.168.1.1), DNS is the one my router tells me (I use it on a static IP PC as well) - Still no internet. I also didnt see anywhere to change the port. Thanks, that makes much more sense. I will play with that once I get the unit online. Thank you very much, that is a great explanation & actually its exactly what I want it to do. Is it an issue having multiple lights in the same scene (the exit scene in this case)? If Entry KPL A turns off all the lights, does this mean when any light is on in the house, KPL A is lighted? I have the following plans: 1. Entry KPL A turns off all lights & turns on three Living Room Lights. 2. Exit KPL A turns off all lights & turns on three Living Room Lights. 3. BR KPL A Turns off all lights except MBR fan & Attic fan 4. BR KPL C turns off/on all lights in house (panic mode) but MBR is at 50%. Does this mean that if any light is on that all KPL 'A's will be lighted? You may have to reboot the switch. Simply pull the air gap tab out for 5-10 seconds, then pop it back into place to its resting position (but do not hold it down). To set the ramp rate of the device itself - is that different from a scene, or must ramp rates be set in scenes? Thansk for your help, Rich
  23. Hi, I am realizing that after playing with the ISY for a while I have a number of other questions as well. 1. Does the Intsteon Firmware (of their devices) matter with the ISY - do certain versions have more features than others? 2. What is the difference between Fast on & ON - Why do some devices only go on for Fast On? 3. Can I change the ISY Internal IP address & Port? 4. Where is the WM5/WM6 PPC Application for the ISY? 5. I have a two places where my Insteon switch (One KPL, One SLR) are not controling a load (the are linked to other load bearing devices) - Should these be controllers or responders? 6. When I set a ramp rate for my dining room (example) to 8.5 seconds, when I click on it in the ISY it ramps, but when I touch the local switch, it just turns on fast. How do I fix that? Thanks, Rich
  24. Hi, After a long talk on the phone with Darrel I think I am in a good place for my testing. In my Laundry room, I have one Switchlinc Dimmer (Dimmer A) to a light & I also have a second Switchlinc dimmer (Dimmer on another light in my laundry room. I also have a non load keylinc pad (which used to be a three way switch in that same room). Keypad button A turns on the Appliancelinc in the garage (which has lighting). So, if you turn on any switch (Dimmer A, Dimmer B, Keylinc On) it turns both lights on & off. If you press button A on the keypad it turns the appliance linc on. So I added one device which spidered to the other three. I am confused by what I have in terms of scenes & other items. Does this make sense to other people (seeing Scenes - why are they named Scene 8 when there is nothing else there)? Thanks, Rich
  25. Michael, So the HTML version of the site for mobile devices, is this more of an "on/off/status" page & the Java version is a place to make changes page? I currently have Homeseer & a PLC working semi OK. I am looking to swap the PLM & ISY into the mix. What would be the best way to do this? 1. Backup data in Homeseer. 2. Unplug PLC 3. Plug in PLM 4. Plug in ISY Can I backup the current Link setup using the ISY in case I decided to use the Homeseer / PLC combo at some future point? If so, how do I do that? Next I would want to wipe everything out to start fresh. Im not exactly sure how to do that or if I should do that (from some reading it sounds like a fresh start would be smart. How do I add new items to the ISY? Do I put the ISY into some detection mode & then tap the switch I want to use? I am having a hard time understanding how to find data in the Wiki (not just yours, any Wiki). I cant seem to find the data I need. Any suggestion on how to navigate that? Thanks, Rich
