  1. Hi, I am looking to have the ISY handle something that Homeseer does with an X10 door sensor. When the basement door is opened, the light in the garage turns on, a notification goes out with subject & body saying "Basement door has been opened", after 5 minutes a second (repeating) email goes out saying "Basement Door has been left open". When the door is closed the garage light goes off & an email is sent saying "Basement door closed". I understand the notifications are limited in terms of what they can say. Can they be repeated - specifically the open ones? Garage Door Open If Status 'Door: Basement Door Open' is On Then Set 'Garage: Light' On Send Notification to All Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Garage Door Closed: If Status 'Door: Basement Door Open' is Off Then Set 'Garage: Light' Off Send Notification to All Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') I dont seem to be able to figure out how to make it in one program & I am having some communciation issues with teh garage at the moment (maybe an issue with teh appliance linc). Thanks, Rich
  2. Hi, I have been scratching my head on how to send a wake on lan signal (ping to port 7 I think) using my Windows Mobile cell phone. It occurred to me that if my main server is down that the ISY probably will be up & able to send a signal. I was thinking that maybe I could send that WOL signal as a program that I could run from my mobile browser in the ISY. Is this possible? Thanks, Rich
  3. Fitz, Are you saying that the only way the motion sensor will trigger the ILL sense is if the floodlight itself is going on? If I use the Status feature, it sounds like I could link a front door motion sensor, a kitchen door motion sensor to the ILL. So if any of those zones had motion, the lights on with a 10 minute countdown would start? It would also log which of the two motion sensors, or the ILL was triggered? Thanks, Rich
  4. My current setup is the following: X10 motion sensor Regular Motion sensor flood light Homeseer If it is nighttime, & the X10 sensor sees motion, it tells Homeseer to turn on the power to the motion sensor, power to the front porch light, Backyard flood lights, and garage light for 10 minutes, then shut them off. In homeseer, the X10 motion sensor (G1 for example) during the day & night will give a status if its on or off. During the day, an on command shows the status but doesnt do anything. At night it does the lights on for 10 minutes then off. I can pull the X10 motion sensor in favor of an Insteon motion sensor, then put all the programming through the ISY, but I am a little concerned about the Motion sensor getting wet. The Insteon one is 35 bucks vs 5 bucks for the X10 (which has lasted a long time). Add to that the fact that the Insteon sensor is much thick (sticks out further) and I am not sure how long it will last. My goal would be to get rid of the X10, us the Insteon (either motion sensor or ILL combo), and use the ISY to control it all. It sucks if my PC crashes as I have no lights when I come home. ANyway with all that being said, what is the best way to go? I dont want to have the Insteon motion sensors breaking due to being rained on. I would guess they would be covered by SH but its also a little ugly vs a "standard" motion floodlight. My goal is to continue to be able to monitor the motion status. I assume the ILL sense has an on/off feature, so when motion is sensed what is the time out (or is that based on the floodlight)? I am a little confused but I want to move forward. Thanks, Rich
  5. Actually, the light seems to keep putting itself on for no reason. Any ideas if I did something wrong? Motion Script: If Control 'Motion: Bathroom Sensor' is switched On And Status 'Bathroom: Guest Light' is On Then - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Else Set 'Bathroom: Guest Light' On Bathroom Light Timeout: If Time is Last Run Time for 'Bathroom Motion ' + 25 minutes And Status 'Bathroom: Guest Light' is On Then Set 'Bathroom: Guest Light' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Bathroom Fan Manual Control: If Control 'Bathroom: Guest Light' is switched Fast On And Control 'Bathroom: Guest Light' is not switched Fast Off Then Set 'Bathroom: Guest Fan' On Wait 30 minutes Run Program 'Bathroom Fan Manual Control ' (Else Path) Else Set 'Bathroom: Guest Fan' Off Thanks for the help figuring this out. Thanks, Rich
  6. The simplest option would be to add to the Else portion of the Bath Motion program. "Else Set 'Bath: Guest Light' On" Fitz - thanks for the help, that works great. Its nice to walk into the bathroom & have the light turn itself on. I am debating adding a triggerlinc so the light turns on when the door opens but I am not sure how the two would interact. Darrel - thanks for putting your info up, I am sure I will have plenty of questions soon! Thanks, Rich
  7. Darrel, can you share your bathroom script? Maybe i can pick up something new? Thanks, Rich
  8. So what would be the best way to add motion turning the light on into the mix? Should it be added to the "bathroom motion" script? I admit the programing logic is hard for me to grasp, the terms of control vs status are a little confusing. Logically speaking: If Control 'Bathroom: Guest Light' is switched Fast On And Control 'Bathroom: Guest Light' is not switched Fast Off Control meaning that if the fast on is "on" & Fast off, is "not off" Then Set 'Bathroom: Guest Fan' On Wait 30 minutes Run Program 'Bathroom Fan Manual Control ' (Else Path) Again fast on is on & fast off is not off - then turn on the fan, wait 30 min, then run this program were already in (I dont understand this), it goes back to the begining? Else Set 'Bathroom: Guest Fan' Off I dont get how it knows to go to off, is it because the status (though its control & I am not sure what that means) is neither fast on or "not" fast off? Thanks, Rich (very confused, but really wants to learn this)
  9. Hi, As I start playing with & enjoying the Insteon motion & triggerlinc devices, I started to think about how they might effect the powerline communications. My understanding is that Insteon is a mech network & the more devices the better the communication gets. I noticed that one of my switchlinc relays (in my office) doesnt always respond. My keylinc A button in my bedroom runs an all out scene. Before adding the three Insteon motion & 3 triggerlincs, it would turn out just fine. Now I noticed that I might have to turn off something noisy (powerline noise aka my attic fan) & the signal might go through the second time. Its to the point that I am thinking of running a program which would send a second round of "off" commands. Anyway the point was while a triggerlinc might not be going on & off so often, 10 triggerlincs + 10 motion sensors would be a constant flow of "noise" on the powerline (I would think) in a home with 4 or 5 people. Is it likely that 10 or 20 motion sensors (thats probably extreme) would flood the powerlines to the point of communication errors? I currently have Homeseer handling most of my motion/doors, but my goal is to move it all to the ISY. Thanks, Rich
  10. I just wanted you to know this works great! Just as expected! I am thinking I might change the time for the motion portion to 20 minutes (in case someone is in the bath). I was also wondering if it made sense to add sometihng so that if the light is off & it sees motion, it turns the light on. More for hte person stuck in the bathtub who stands up in the pitch dark (its an interior bathroom). Another thing I was wondering was if it made sense to add something for the dusk/dawn sensor. It seems that the Insteon motion sensors dusk/dawn portion is triggered after 5 minutes of light (or dark). I dont know what that gets us aside from an extra 5 minutes on the timer. Thanks! Rich
  11. Fitz - will that allow me to do a fast off as a manual off for the fan? For some reason I cant get the motion to be "On" its "Switched on". I dont know if that makes a difference. My code is below. If Control 'Motion: Bathroom Sensor' is switched On And Status 'Bathroom: Guest Light' is On Then - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Thanks! I will let you know how this goes. RIch
  12. Fitzpatri8, Thanks for your help, let me see if i get this straight. Bath Fan Manual Control This says if the BR guest light is switched fast on, and is not turned fast off, then turn on guest fan, wait 40 minutes, then run Bath Fan Manual Control Im not sure I get that portion. Should I remove the other bathroom (fast on / fast off programs I made)? Bath Motion That says if Bathroom motion is on and light is on, then do nothing? Bath Light Timeout This says the last time the bathroom motion has run (after ten min of no motion) and the bathroom light is on, then turn bathroom light off. So the three scripts together Bath fan manual - this is stand alone - any time fast on is detected, it will wait 40 minutes then shut off. If I do a manual fast off, then another fast on, will that reset the fan? Thanks, Rich
  13. Sorry, I mean can I take the wiring from teh DS10A sensors (that are all ready in place all over my house) & put the wires into the Triggerlinc?
  14. Sorry to be dense but are you saying I can have a program that says: If SHMotion light sees motion then program is true Or is this more like if I link keypad button C to the Motion light, then I can use button C status to know that motion was triggered? I am a little confused. If its daytime, will the triggerlinc still register motion? Can you dumb this down for me, i am not getting it. Thanks< Rich
  15. So your saying if I am so crazy about my DS10A's in terms of sensor strength, i could clip the wires off the DS10a & run them on the triggerlinc? That is genius! Is that the case?
  16. Hi, I actually do have a motion sensor in there. How could I set up those programs so that if it senses motion, it restarts the countdown once that motion stops? Thanks, Rich
  17. Hi, I am currently using DS10A's to monitor my doors. The X10 sensor is pretty good at having a very small gap between the sensors, so if the door is open but not fully shut, I can tell that. The Triggerlinc has a pretty big gap & I am having a hard time with it. For example, the triggerlinc has a 1 inch (at least) gap in it. I can have the front door not fully closed (the door against the frame but not in the closed / locked position) and the triggerlinc says it is closed (due to the gap). The X10 sensor magnet seems to be less powerful which makes the gap smaller in the sensor. Any ways around this for the triggerlincs? Thanks, RIch
  18. Hi, I finally got around to installing a switchlinc relay in the attic for the bathroom fan & the switchlinc dimmer in the bathroom for the regular lights. I have it set so that a fast on turns the fan on, a fast off turns the fan off, and if the fan is on, that 45 minutes later it will turn both the light & fan off. I think it needs a little work as my wife went to take a bath with the light & fan on, then at some point later, I went in & while i was in the lights shut off. Is this just a matter of shutting off the lights & turning them on to reset the program? Here is what i have in the "bathroom" program subfolder: BR fast on If Control 'Bathroom: Guest Light' is switched Fast On Then Set 'Bathroom: Guest Fan' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') BR Fast off If Control 'Bathroom: Guest Light' is switched Fast Off Then Set 'Bathroom: Guest Fan' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') BR light 45 minute script: If Status 'Bathroom: Guest Fan' is On Then Wait 40 minutes Set 'Bathroom: Guest Fan' Off Set 'Bathroom: Guest Light' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Thanks, Rich
  19. Bob, I am enjoying reading your articles. I had one question about the Inlinelinc with the 'sense'. When looking at the ISY, is the Inlinelinc a stand alone item, or does it create a second entry for hte "sense" in an on/off manner? I am curious if there is a way to get a motion sense & know that there was motion (aside from the light going to the on position)? I dont know if there can be two devices from the one inline linc: 1. Inline Linc on/off 2. Inline linc Sense on/off Thanks, Rich
  20. This is pretty interesting! I have an extra Inlinelinc & I couldnt figure what to do with it. I was planning on buying the smarthome version & just realized from this thread that the motion sensor kit is a cheapo sensor with an inlinelinc. BTW, how does the motion portion register in ISY? Is it considered a motion device like a standard SH motion sensor?
  21. Actually, I was doing some testing with some other devices & it seems pretty easy to make 1 tap (on) turn on the local light & then a program that will turn on the fan with 2 taps (fast on). Cool stuff! I am loving the ISY!
  22. Hi, Right now, my guest bathroom has a single gang box. In that box it has a dual switch (non insteon). One switch for the fan, one switch for the light. I have a Inline linc relay (non button relay) & either a keypad (my wife thinks they look ugly) or a regular switchlinc dimmer. I was wondering what the best way to set this up is? I think, I could goto the attic & cut the wire that goes to the fan, put it into a box & splice the inline linc relay into the mix. Then put the switchlinc in & figure a way to make on turn on the lights & double on turns on the fan too. I also plan to put a motion sensor in for automation as well, but thats another story. I dont think putting a dual box into the wall is in the picture for me. Thanks for the advice, Rich
  23. This is also my big concern. I have 10 x10 motion sensors & 10 DS10a's setup. I would think that would add up to tons of X10 traffic from the motion sensors. 10 x insteon motion sensors = $350 10 x insteon door sensors = $350 Total = $700 to get the ISY completely independent. I dont mind spending the money but I wonder if its worth it. I agree, the ISY talking directly to the w800 would be a better solution. Thanks, Rich
  24. Chuck, How are you getting your DS10A traffic onto hte powerline? I have my old Insteon PLC which I am now using (thanks to your directions) to rebroadcast the Wireless X10 onto the powerline through homeseer. I am just working on getting the DS10A's onto the powerline now. The possible issue with X10 & Insteon mixing does bother me. Until now, I had 0 X10 powerline traffic, it was all insteon, or the X10 went through the PC (bypassing the powerline). I feel like I am moving a bit backwards trying to get the X10 traffic sent on the powerline to the ISY when its all wireless now. Thanks, Rich
  25. IM, I am not sure how I would get homeseer to mimic it. The only way I could think of it would be to setup a program in homeseer that when when Security Device XYZ is "on" then send an X10 "F1". I am not sure if homeseer would then transmit that to the powerline or if it would just show up in the HS2 log. Your saying that the V572RF32 does all this natively though? I still think I want to wait a little longer to see what UDI comes up with in the next month or two.
