Thanks guys! That did the trick. I admit, I am not sure what the differences are between the the line being (Then Path) or (Else Path) ? Anyway, thanks that looks like it will work great, now I need more motion sensors. It is nice to be moving away from X10. Its also nice that when the battery goes, I just have to swap it out without reprogramming it.

Hi, I was thinking that if the sensor sees motion, then it starts the program, once the program is started, it wont restart until the initial 10 miuntes is up & the light goes back to off status. if it sees motion & the light is on, it should ignore the program. How do I link the three programs? Thanks, Rich

Michel, My only concern is that I dont want it to be that if my wife turns the light on & then there is motion outside, that the 10 minute countdown will start to turn the light off. Also, should these programs be in teh same folder, or does that not matter? I am not sure how the programs know they belong to each other. Thanks, Rich

I am having some problems, the light doesnt want to go off: Also, once the timer is started, should other motion events restart the timer (not what I want)? I am assuming not, as after the first one starts, the kitchen light is no longer off, so it should just end. I am testing with 1 minute btw. If Control 'Kitchen Motion Sensor' is switched On And Status 'Kitchen Light' is Off And From Sunset To Sunrise (next day) Then Set 'Kitchen Light' On Wait 1 minute Set 'Kitchen Light' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')

Hi, In Homeseer, I have a program that does the following: During the day when rear deck motion sensor is triggered, if the kitchen light is off, the kitchen light will turn on for 10 minutes, then turn itself off. If the kitchen light is on, it will do nothing. If its night time (8pm-6am) & the sensor is triggered it will turn on the kitchen light for 10 minutes including 3 exterior lights, then it shuts those items off. If the kitchen light is on, it will do nothing. Its a nice feature How can I replicate this using the ISY? I have something similar to this for the entry sensor as well, if I can figure out one program, I can do the rest (including one in the bedroom that from 11pm to 5am will turn the bedroom light on 20% for 2 minutes, then auto shut off). Thanks, Rich

Hi, I was curious, is there a way to view the last time a device was active? Such as the last time the bedroom light was turned on, or the last time the door was opened etc? Thanks, Rich

Hi, I was curious,I just set up my motion sensor. I have a number of X10 ones that I was using with homeseer & BLRadar. How are you using them? I think I like the X10 mode of getting an on command. I feel that the Insteon motion sends the on command for to long & I am curious if they have a toggle mode (only sends ons when there is motion)? Thanks, Rich

Hi Rich, MutEx buttons are used when you desire only one of a group to be illuminated at any time. For example you may have four levels for the same set of devices (scene) and select one at a time. Rand, Sorry to sound like a broken record, but I dont quite get the MutEx concept. Are you saying that BR KPL has A, B, C, D. Right, now, all four can be lit or unlit at any time. Is MutEx so that if button A is lit, B,C,D cant be? If thats the case, I dont quite understand the usage, Buttton A controls Lights 1, 2, 3 at medium brightness, Button B controls Lights 1, 3, 5 at full, etc? What is a real world example? Can these be cross multiple KPL's? Thanks, Rich

Sorry, I am more confused on what that means in terms of Insteon. When is a Mutual Exclusive button used? The button toggle is pretty easy to get. Though I do not understand what it means the Non-Toggle? What is that used for?

WOW! That is so easy! Whooo!

Well, I was playing around & I set it up this way (with a scene): MBR Button A is the controller, everything else I added are responders. MBR Button A was set into toggle "Off" mode. Each time I press A it turns everything off. I was so excited that I did the same thing with MBR Button C for an "all On" switch. That is neat indeed! I have an extra KPL desktop enclosure. I am thinking of taking a switchlinc dimmer & putting it in for my wife to use on her side (on being all on, off being all off). I really like this, much faster response time from the homeseer setup I was using for that. I still dont get the mutual exclusive buttons & how that works but this is cool indeed!

Hi, I have an Attic fan that in Homeseer, I have a daily (or nightly) command at 4am to send an off command to the attic fan, even if its off (not much powerline traffic at 4am in my home). I would like to start moving away from Homeseer. I think I can make this happen in the ISY. Should this be a program? Thanks, Rich

Hi, I know somewhere that MikeB wrote a progarm that does something similar, but I cannot find it for the life of me. I would like to either write a program or make a scene that does the following: MBR KPL A: 1. Turns off all the lights in the house 2. Turns off all other KPL buttons that might be on 3. (wish list) waits 30 seconds after I press the button to turn the lights out. The other idea I was thinking of was that MBR KPL A could only be a "shut off" button, so if i hit the button 10 times, it would only send a shut down command. Then MBR KPL C could be an "All On" button - though I wouldnt want all KPL buttons to go on too. I have some other thoughts, but this might be a good place to start. Whats the easiest way to do this? Thanks, Rich EDIT: I also have in Homeseer, that the "D" buttons at the Front KPL & Basement KPL. send an off command to everything inthe house & then send an on command to the living room. I would like to have the ISY handle that going forward.

I didnt reset the PLC, so the PLC should still have links for the insteon devices, will it try to create new links if the device doesnt have a link? I did the factory resets, so I am guessing the links are gone (or they should be).
-
Bob, My main issue is time. It seems I get a few hours here & there to mess with things. I have done a full factory reset on all the insteon devices & the ISY. I didnt do anything to the PLC. With my own factory resets being done, if I turn on Homeseer, shouldnt the PLC still be able to turn on & off lights even if the Insteon light has been factory resetted (as the ID number should be the same)? Yes I am planning on using your plugin once I get enough time in one day to swap things around. Thanks, Rich

I was under the impression that the PLC doesnt do anything but homeseer controls the links. How would I tell if HS is causing a problem?

Hi, I am in the midst of playing with my ISY/PLM combo. I am not done setting it up. I do have a PLC/Homeseer plugged in at the moment, though Homeseer is turned off. If I am not adding devices & I am unconcerned with things becoming out of sync, is there any issues having both devices on at the same time? The PLC doesnt store links & if I am not adding new items, then I cant figure if there would be an issue provided I dont install new devices. Any comments on what could be a possible downside? The upside is I can use the Homeseer/PLC combo while I am setting up the PLM/ISY combo. Thanks, Rich
-
How do you reset the PLM? I cant find the documentation here: http://www.smarthome.com/2412S/PowerLin ... ial/p.aspx
-
I called smarthome & they said: dimmers in wall - pull tab out for 10 seconds, push tab in for 5 seconds On/Off in wall - press on for 10 seconds, to put it into set mode, push tab in for 5 seconds & its reset. Strange. On a side note, I have homeseer with teh PLC (usb), my understanding is the PLC cant write links, so I dont need to do anything with that. If i used the PLC + Homeseer along with the ISY & PLM, that while the homeseer side may get out of sync, it should still all work. Do I need to reset the PLM? Thanks, Rich
-
So, i should do a Factory Reset on the ISY, then do resets of all the insteon devices, then readd them all indivually to the ISY?
-
While SH isnt open yet. What is involved in factory reseting the devices? Is it just the tab you pull out for 30 seconds?
-
Michael, While I dont have that many devices as compared to some, I probably have 40-50 of them. I have never used the X10 protocal on my Insteon devices, though I do have a W800 & some DS10A's & Hawkeyes in my setup, but in terms of X10 powerline traffic, I dont have any. Is there a way to do a reset of hte devices through the ISY? Currently, the ISY has all my links/scenes. Do I just delete the scenes & the devices are clear? Thanks, Rich
-
When were talking about adding links, are the links actually scenes? How do I erase all links once all my devices are added? I did do option 3, but I think its easy enough to recreate the scenes (I dont have that many).
-
A second question is if I add the links, say I want to keep all the devices & clear all links so I can recreate them fresh, is that something I can do?
-
Hi, I am in the midst of a reinstall of my ISY network. I am starting from scratch. I have a strange combo in my setup. I have the PLC + Homeseer. I also have the PLM & ISY. I dont mind if Homeseer gets out of sync & I will be taking the PLC offline shortly. I am looking to setup the ISY to see all my Insteon items. I added one item, a Guest bedroom KPL. The A button is linked to a switchlinc in my attic. When I added the Guest Bedroom KPL, it found the attic device, which is pretty neat. My question is if I should be removing links, adding links, etc. What is the differences? BTW, I am pretty sure I asked this the first time around (january 2009) but I cannot find that posting. Thanks, Rich
