I personally chose the Pro because I rather have too many options than not enough, and I am open to the idea that the bluetooth and wifi connections can have interesting uses in the future. Who knows... maybe it will let us control wifi switches without a nodeserver. The location options of bluetooth are also interesting. But I agree with you that it is safer to connect the Polisy to the router with an ethernet cable.

Driving through Normandy (France) this week, it is probably omelette on my face.

egg on my face..... I did not know that Smarthome (Insteon) had a connection to Apple.
-
translation please....... What is supposed to occur between Apple and Smart Home ?

FYI I use a Google Wifi mesh router and if I need to move the ISY closer to a new Zwave device, for initial installation, I just connect the ISY to a closer Google Wifi pod.
-
It is not either or.... Take the best of both. About four years ago I made the switch to all Zwave, when my second PLM went down, and have never looked back. I know that some devices and some features of Insteon work very well, but I am happy with my 60+ Zwave devices. But as I said, you don't have to replace all your Insteon devices, and can gradually add Zwave to your set-up. Just make sure to get Zwave Plus devices.

Sounds like a news letter from Kmart or Yahoo

Probably I am hardly more technical than you, but (semi-retired) I have time on my hands. Until about a year ago Raspberry Pi, Polyglot and Nodeservers were way beyond my level of comprehension. However I was pushed by others on this forum and I was given step-by-step guidance. Now I use several nodeservers that give me great satisfaction. The most useful Nodeserver for me is AVRemote that allows me to stream whatever radio station that I want, at different times, at different locations in my home, with programmes using AVRemote with my Chromecast devices. It also allows me to wake up with music and then my favorite TV channel. Polisy, according to its webpage, allows you to skip the complicated setup of a Raspberry Pi and easily use Nodeservers to add to your Home Automation. Don't be scared (as I was for a long time) and more than anything don't hesitate to ask for help on this forum.

I am in and just pre-ordered mine. UDI is the best. My only question, what do I do with my RPi ? Can I transfer the Nodeservers to Polisy or do I reprogram the Polisy ?

How to get Mobilinc out of ISY to free up the portal

Indeed, that would explain it. And that is why I did not upgrade to Mobilinc X. Thanks -
How to get Mobilinc out of ISY to free up the portal

I totally agree with you that ISY is the BEST. As mentioned before, I understand that it makes no sense to keep a module in Portal if you don't use it, but what puzzles me is that Mobilinc makes your Echo non-functional. I have Mobilinc Pro connected to my ISY Portal, and also have both Alexa, IFTTT and Google Home (though I rarely use Alexa). I have not experienced any interference having all these connected to Portal. -

I understand that you want to remove the Mobilinc because you are not using it, but what I don't understand (or don't know) is why it frees up ISY Portal and/or makes it work better. -
lilyoyo1 is right. Zwave works best when you have enough Zwave devices to have an effective mesh network. If you don't want to add (more) Zwave wall switches, then add a few plugin devices. On the average these costs between $ 25 and $ 35. All Zwave Plus devices (excluding those that are battery powered) repeat the Zwave signal throughout the network. And when you add a plug-in device you can also use it (for example) to control a lamp.

This happened to me as well until someone pointed out that I needed to increase the Java memory. Right now I am writing this on a MAC so I dont exactly remember how to do this, but it should not be too complicated.

I agree with beninsteon, and why 'compete' with Agave and Mobilinc ? From what I read in this forum, the developers of both Agave and Mobilinc have a close relationship with UDI, and together they can give us the best possible options. Two additional comments : I hope that Mobilinc can soon make its new App compatible with ISY Portal. It would be great to include the nodeservers in the App.

Let me rephrase my question, as we are here on the ISY forum..... What benefit would ST give me in complement to my ISY994iZW ?
-
On a side note, what is or could be the benefit of having both a ST and a ISY ?

Going through this topic, I realize that I have a lag of several seconds in my programs that turn on a light when one of my sensors detects motion. I am not really familiar how I can/should "associate" one Zwave device with another. From memory I believe that I could add the sensor as controller in a scene and the light as responder, but I am not sure that this works. And even if this works, how would I have that light switch off after say 1 minute ?

I am a member of the same club, and have had Administrative Console issues on both my Mac Mojave and on my Windows 10. The issues with Windows 10 were resolved by increasing the Java memory and (to my regret) I don't remember how I resolved my Mac issues.

In my case the nodeserver AVRemote, together with the Harmony hub nodeserver, has been fabulous. All day long my favorite radio stations from France, the Netherlands and from Israel, stream throughout my home, as programed in my ISY with these nodeservers. There is an occasional hick-up, but nothing that I can not handle. On workday mornings, my TV switches on with my preferred news channel and preferred volume.
