Improve Z-Wave response speed?
It is a matter of "taste" and it also depends one's view of the future. I dropped my Insteon devices and am a big believer in Zwave because many more systems use Zwave, and also because Insteon depends on one sole manufacturer, who rarely brings new devices. Lilyoyo1 has a different take and sees the sole manufacturer as a plus. Emotions can run high when favoring Zwave over Insteon, or the reverse. The good thing of ISY is that it works well with both. As long as one is happy with what one has, everybody is a winner.

Improve Z-Wave response speed?
I am big proponent of Zwave but ZW devices fail as well. I have more than 60 ZW devices in my home and I would say that on average 4 or 5 fail every year. My preferred ZW switches are Homeseer but these are more expensive. I also use GE/Jasco, Inovelli and Zooz.

How to set up Google Home
These are all good solutions. My personal experience has been that using the word "light" in different spokens in same room can confuse GH and turn on the wrong light.

How to set up Google Home
I believe that you can include the room name in ISY (e.g. master ceiling, kitchen ceiling, etc) and same as spokens, but when you are in the kitchen, and you have a GH in the kitchen, you only need to say OK Google turn on ceiling.

How to set up Google Home
I use both Alexa and GH at the same time. Personally I use GH more than Alexa but that is because I started first with GH and am more comfortable with it. As for music, just so that you know, I dumped my Sonos (sold at great price on EBay) and switched to Chromecast. With the AVRemote Nodeserver I have fantastic control of my 3 Chromecasts.

New house, more choices.
I have learned my lesson that the Insteon vs Zwave is a painful debate. Some like it hot, others like it cold. When someone asks about the options for a new home, he/she should be given a choice between (or a combination of) the various technologies. Some arguments are factual, other arguments are more emotional or based on one's comfort level,.

New house, more choices.
I know that many are very satisfied with Insteon and that is great. However I would not want you to discard the Zwave alternative. As so many others here, I started with X10, then added Insteon and then moved to Zwave. When my PLM expired I went 100 % Zwave with now some 60 devices and have never regretted my choice. The big advantage of ISY is that you can mix both technologies.

Are any new ISY models under development?
Looks fantastic and knowing the high UDI standards, we will be in for a treat. Hopefully with an improved Administrative Console (without Java) ?

How to set up Google Home
You have one on me ........ I am still struggling with variables. I still don't get the concept and how to use them. When I have time I am going through the wiki and the many posts on the topic. I also did not know about the ISY 'Calendar'. Thanks for the tip.

How to set up Google Home
Sanders2222, you seem to be where I was not too long ago. All this sounds very complicated and sometimes it is. I have received a lot of help from others in this forum and you will get where you want to be. I don't have Insteon and only use Zwave, but it should not make any difference. Let me try start step by step and others in this forum (way more qualified than I am) will add better info. Google Home : It works great in my home, I can switch on / off all my switches, fans, curtains etc.by telling GH OK Google turn on the ceiling at 75 percent (just an example). You must have ISY Portal. In your Administrative Console, Help, Purchase Modules. Once you have created your ISY Portal username and password, you click on Select Tool, Connectivity, Google Home. From there you add the devices of your choice, give each one or more Spokens (name to be used in Google Home). In the Google Home App on your phone you go to Connected Home (or something similar) and add Universal Devices, where you use same username and password that you created for the ISY Portal. When that connection works, you must synch the ISY Portal with your Google Home App. The easiest way is to tell GH OK Google synch my devices. GH will respond with OK synching Universal Devices. Nodeservers : These basically allow you to control a number of third party devices/systems (Sonos, thermostats, Audio/Video etc) in your ISY. Once you have them, some of these are fantastic. I make really good use of some Nodeservers. I personally use Nodeservers to connect my Nest thermostats, to schedule radio stations to stream on my Chromecasts and Google Home devices, to control my TV at select times with select channels, volume etc etc. I just added a Nodeserver to connect my Google Calendars so that I can (hopefully) create programs to switch ON/OFF lights etc depending on when a day is a holiday or not. The setup is complicated for Newbies like you and I, but as I said I received a lot of help from people in this forum. There are several ways to add Nodeservers, and each alternative may have different or same Nodeservers : Polyglot : The best way is to connect a Raspberry Pi to your network. There are a number of detailed posts in this forum giving you step-by-step instructions. There are also very useful YouTube videos. As I said it is not easy but if I can do it, almost anyone else can do. Take time to read the instructions (don't get scared) and watch the YouTube videos. Buy yourself a Raspberry Pi on Amazon and follow the instructions that you can find in this forum. anytime you get stuck, ask your question here and people will help you. I am not as smart as many others here, and these others will help you better than what I can do for you. Once the Raspberry Pi has been set up, you add Polyglot to it, also following instructions in this forum. Nodelink : Very similar setup as Polyglot, just a different file to add to your Raspberry Pi. Polyglot Cloud : This is a cloud alternative with a smaller number of Nodeservers, but it has the advantage that you do not need a Raspberry Pi. Again, it looked way too complicated to me and resisted trying it out until someone here (was it Beninsteon or Bumbershoot ?) convinced me to jump in the deep side of the pool. Now I love it all..

When will the new firmware be released?
Admin, and then create your new username and password (or same as before)

When will the new firmware be released?
I am sorry to hear that. By far most users have not have negative experiences. If you make a backup and some free time, you may try again, and you can always go back to previous version.

When will the new firmware be released?
Don't hesitate to move to 5.0.14. You won't regret it. UDI are perfectionists but it works very well. Move to 5,0,14 and enjoy the nodeservers.

Adding Spokens Error Message
I don't think that my suggestion corresponds to your issue, but it may be helpful anyway. The icon in ISY Portal to send updates to Google Home always fails in my case, however I resolve this with "OK Google Synch my devices". GH then responds that it synchs with Universal Devices, etc.

Can I say Alexa OPEN the garage door instead of Alexa turn On the garage door
I use mostly Google Home and created a short cut so that I can say OK Google open bedroom curtains, etc. I believe that Alexa has routines that can be set up for the same .

I just saw post that Nodelink was updated. I have set Nodelink to check for updates at 4 am. Will the update be done automatically or is there a procedure ?

MorningLinc / Lock has apparently died - what's a good replacement?
Oberkc is right about the mesh network of ZWave. However I recommend, rather than to use repeaters, that you use plug-in ZWave Plus devices (example) . These are repeaters AND have a practical use to for instance a floor lamp. The repeaters only are hardly cheaper and serve no additional purpose. The more Zwave devices, the better your mesh network, and you may actually like Zwave.

NodeLink: Raspberry Pi Install Script
Bumbershoot, it did not work at first as I may have missed a space or upper/lowercase, but I found the following which worked : If you set the Time Zone in raspi-config the Raspberry Pi will automatically update the time on boot, if connected to the internet. sudo raspi-config. Select Internationalisation Options. Select I2 Change Timezone. Select your Geographical Area. Select your nearest City. Select Finish. Select Yes to reboot now.

ISY Portal Wording for 'Location'
The room location feature of Google Home is indeed very useful. I changed names from Kitchen Fan and Guest Room Fan to just Fan in each case. However I also had to change the names of the fan lights because when asking Google to switch on the fan, both Fan and Fan Light came on in the specific room. I had to come up with an alternative name for Fan Light that does not include the word fan. I chose Ceiling.
