Boy you look at it all together and I see what I’ve spent over time. I do love my job insteon though. Still beats any of the options I’ve seen so far. That Insteon hub is a pos, I’ve got one of them doing nothing useful. So what’s fair? I have a friend who just built a condo and is up to put in a system. Mostly the dimmers and switches are needed. Having done it relatively recently, it is that simple from 20k feet. IF, you already have verified that you have the ISY on the Polisy and can get to it already in blank / virgin state. btw: : take a back-up of the virgin state as well. go through your two steps above. Now it depends on your setup. Are you moving the PLM over if you have one? Do you have Z-wave? What is the state of your PolyGlot? I dd a new PLM ; easier with old. Z-wave do not come over. I had PG online, PG2, & PG3 Oh and I decided to change the IP of my Poly at the same time. So I had a bit of a muddle but must say I am now up and working with a powered down resting 994ISY. Its worth the effort.

Thanks @Javi , I was about half way through my favourites when I got this, but it gave me a chance to clean them up a bit and improve the organisation. I do agree that there are a few documentation / standardized work opportunities here as there will be more than a few people moving over in the next few months I would guess. Appreciate the answer.

Just opened 0.6.6 and found an issue but I don't think its new to this version ; there may be a few people like me turning off their old 994ISY moving to the PolisyISY. If you go into settings/systems and pick one of your ISYs down at the bottom is the ability to enable/disable that ISY with UD mobile. When you do that and then save the app still wants to sync with the ISY on the save. I would suggest at that point, when the user disables connection to an ISY the app should just skip the sync. My 994 is unplugged now and so I effectively cannot disable using it.

Only 12hrs in to migration of Portal to the PolisyISY but I am perceiving faster Alexa responses.

Ahhhh. I just went through 150 NRs Lol. I did also find I had to tick Use SNI for my https: type NRs; the rest was just a re-save. Also, wanted to state publicly that my IP loss issues were all my fault due to an old switch competing for the IP address. I think I am now ready to convert my portal integrations over & then have the 994 pulling of the plug ceremony *sniff* SeJ

With some leds down low I will have strobing like you are talking about related to the Insteon communications over the power lines. Could perhaps be your issue. SeJ

I've used that trick with the one incandescant a few times. Especially when I used cheap Costco leds a few years ago. Down low they would have real issues. Better Leds have come down in price and have been another way to solve the issue.

@Michel Kohanim, to start with there was no PLM failure I had the old style serial PLM attached to my 994. I purchased (maybe one of the last ones) a USB PLMs for use with the Polisy. The backup was my last working version with the 994. I certainly could spark it up and make another backup to restore to the Polisy. Is it possible that the backup was not good? Hard to test that without restoring it to the 994 which may be my last current good copy now. Happy to try that as you have now shown us how to fix our own portal tab issue

So some observations: First, I have moved my PG2 & PG3 to point at PolyISY restored my 994ISY to my PolyISY restored to a new USB PLM (twice, second time reduced the number of links to 1/4) 1. my nodes show up in the network or isy listing but not on the left window 2. I lose the Poly every so often. Not rebooting, like I lose the IP address, does not show up online on the portal. Lose admin, ssh, PG2/3. Recovers after a few minutes. 3. Have been working through my networking items resaving one my one. Seems you have to edit our touch and re-save. Have had some success with this. 4. Have not been getting triggering on most (all?) programs. Control was not working but status was ; just on certain switches. I concentrated on a small two switch triggered program. One switch would trigger the program & it was status based. The second would not, it was control based. I restored that switch (twice as I was making other program changes). That one program now triggers and works as normal with control or status as the trigger. No need for a query. Just observations. I am loath to restore all of my switches individually as I have many. btw: I think obvious but this is all with Insteon switches. Have not tried to add my z-wave back in yet. Hope this helps!

@bpwwerI deleted the database as you mentioned. Then removed and installed PG3. IP address still was the old POLISY one. Looked at the logs but cannot see where it grabs the IP for the database. I also tried stopping, then removing the whole /var/polyglot/pg3 directory, removed, installed PG3. Same result. So its getting the IP from somewhere else. btw: : I am not so bought in so far that I could not do a complete Polisy reset to factory. I have backups of my PG2 and have only just restored my 994ISY to my PolisyISY ; both are backed up. thoughts?

@larryllix, can verify that opening, updating, saving, then saving the network list works. Looks like you have to do it for every single one, UGLY as I have many. I'll get to that after snowplowing and hockey. I put in a ticket and @Michel Kohanimgave me back my portal tab. One more issue, if any of you in the vanguard had it. I moved to a new USB PLM. I did a restore but seems it is not receiving switch inputs to run my programs. It will work fine to send programs or to send to a device. Also, if I do a query it will update statuses. Should I do another restore PLM, or is there a better method? Thanks again to the crowd and UD !!

@bpwwerits the PG3 as its associated with the port address of 3000. If that is how it works I may just uninstall and reinstall PG3; as I said before I have only played with it so far. I will move what I can to it from PG2 as I get things stable first. I was able to change the ISY address to localhost ; it is working well. on the unrelated note, we are very lucky to be on lake Fenton, I didn't grow up here but was able to buy at the last downturn. It has meant a really wonderful place for my kids to spend their time growing up. Not a bad place for mum & dad to float around on as well. I have lived in about eight countries, I agree the world is very small. The more people realize that and that we are all the same in the end means a better planet. Hope your life travels from Grand Blanc have treated you well.

Moved over to the Poly ISY and promptly lost my Portal tab. I put in a ticket. was able to move my PG2 and PG3 over. Had to change a number of IP addresses in the Nodes on both the Node server and through the config in the ISY. other than the Portal tab all is working well including a transfer to a USB Insteon modem; of course I will have to add my four ZWAVE devices. EXCEPT my network pushes do not seem to be working at the moment. Anyone have any of those issues, is it because I don't have the portal and thus do not have the network module? or is that not an option anymore? last step looking to migrate the portal and my Alexa integrations.

@bpwwer, appreciate the response, even after a number of reboots it still shows the old ISY but no worries for now. on the PG3, I am glad I have only played with it for now, I will start my nodes from scratch. was able to get my PG2 over from my 994 to the poly after restoring my 994-ISY to the polyISY. have lost my portal connection to the polyISY with the restore ; can I still do the ISYportal migration? that is my next step here. I don't have but four z-wave's so that is no issue really. onward and upward!

Minor issue for feedback. Updated my ISY on Polisy & PG3. the PG3 is showing the new PG3 but old ISY: Frontend Version: 3.0.36 ISY Version: 5.2.0 Also one other item. I changed the IP address which my Polisy is on my network, all is working fine and really is moved except the Polyglot Settings in PG3 show the current IP as the old IP and cannot be changed. I have PG2 concurrently running but it does not have a field for this in settings. again minor cleanup issues, Happy new year!

Thank you both @simplextech and @lilyoyo1 for your further respected comments. Just to verify do you both use the node server to connect to the ISY / POLY ? Second do you end up with a z-wave mech as well to handle particular unique devices like leak sensors or other type devices? Can I 'dip my toe' into the RA2 world with a few switches and base unit? I have signed up for the course but due to the season have not got there yet. Appreciate your (or others) thoughts.

I was wondering why I didn’t see you logo on their site when I knew “you” had a nodeserver. That’s too bad, Lutron would be a good one to continue to raise your profile. I’m doing my part & installing a new Polisy at my friend’s place. I’m up to three now for the team! SeJ
