I have a Insteon In-LineLinc Dimmer 2475DA1 that has gone bad, and now since I find out Insteon is no more, is there a replacement type in any technology? Ideally one that works with the isy994 but if not and there is one that works with polisy, then OK will; have to move platforms. Or possibly is there a "smart bulb" that can be controlled by isy994?
-
with insteon going away I plan to move to Zwave (I guess this is the best), but it seems with Zwave there are range issues that I never had with Insteon. I was planning to move gradually, but without enough zwave devices would that be a range issue? I hate to put repeater around my house (2000 sq ft) as they just take up sockets. how may of these repeater would I need , any guesses?
-
thanks for all your help today. I am leaning that way. Just wondering if Zwave is the way to go to replace all my insteon switches (as they fail) as zwave seems to need repeater and had such good luck with Instenon. so Perhaps Lutron as you suggested has less issues. it such a big investment just want to be sure going forward

So it "seems" isy "runs on Polisy"? not sure what that means. does Polisy have a whole new interface?..but you also run the old isy interface? If true is the ability to do this so that you do not have to rewrite your programs ? is it better to start from scratch on Polisy? sorry, I am confused on the basics here, and appreciate any help
-
HaHa, maybe I am the one confused. Thought I found them on Amazon, but now maybe it was a Leviton . Sorry. so what protocol is Lutron (zwave in disguise?) if not then do they works a Zwave repeaters? are they compatible with Polisy?
-
sorry confused, as Lutron does make zwave switches as well as wifi one and maybe more. I am asking which ones to use if I upgraded to a Polisy?
-
So You mean Lutron Zwave devices are are you saying another communication technology?
-
Oh I see. So I need to buy the 500 series?

it's been a while since I installed the dongle (don't even remember but I think it was a plug in on the board, right?) and have not used Zwave in years, but now my ISY interface says "Zwave dongle not responding" any suggestions?
-
Is Zwave the best alternative? I heard there is need for lots of range extenders? totally out of my "Insteon" comfort zone here
-
What? all insteon devices "sold out" and CNET claims they are gong out of business. What are we to do???

wow, terminology a bit confusing, but got it to work, and works great!! thanks! too Bad I now see the IFTTT is limited to 5 free appletts, an have to pay for more. BTW YoLink with LoRA technology seems to be working great. Planning on using it for Motion sensor but also a long range Temperature sensor for my pool Thanks again
-
Oh great, will study up! Thanks
-
Yea familiar with but not proficient at the "Portal". I see Alexa and IFTTT tools but still not totally getting how do do this
-
Ok, longtime ISY user, not so much using Alexa integration and IFTTT. I bought a YoLink motion sensor (cheap and just to play with), and thought it would be a good learning experience to learn IFTTT and Alexa integration. So any suggestion to get started? meaning, want to use the motion sensor to trigger either IFTTT or Alexa (not sure which or both) to turn on my ISY controlled light for 5 minutes and then turn off it not another motion detected (just like an insteon motion sensor). Any help getting started is appreciated

I tried a Zwave motion sensor with my isy some time ago, with poor results due to isy in the office in the house and the Zwave motion sensor in the garage some 50ft away. I see where there is talk of repeaters around the house to solve this. But to me this is moving backwards from insteon that both its wireless and power line communications is a superb solution. I really do not want to put repeaters all around my house to use Zwave devices that insteon does not have a similar device. Is there such a thing as one device that will take zwave signal and conver to to insteon powerline signals ? or some other more convenient solution?
-
Duh ? I did not realize it was Zwave. I have not experimented with zwave for a while, but last time I did, one located in my garage vs isy in office had spotty communication. I guess I need some type of relay?
-
how do you add the Zooz sensors? D you just add it as a Smarthome motion sensor?

This is residential and I do have an isy with many Insteon devices. Yes, the whole purpose is to remotely boot without internet
-
Many years ago I replaced all of my x10 devices with Insteon and never looked back!...Until today! Of course I can access insteon device remotely, but only if the internet is working. I just got back from my vacation home, and while up there my cable modem needed to be rebooted at home. No way to do this without internet access at home. Years ago I used to control X10 device at my cabin remotely via a telephone X10 Responder, worked pretty good. Now I am thinking of resurrecting that old method (yes, I still have a landline), unless someone else can come up with a better solution of remotely rebooting a cable modem or router i.e. no internet access Thx

I took out the Insteon outlet and Still have the problem. Then covered the outlet with a plastic bag and so far it has not tripped again so I determined that it’s moisture in the outlet nothing to do with Insteon. So I replace the total outlet with a new one with a brand new cover and we’ll see if that fixes the problem, if I go back to have an Insteon controlled outlet I will use the outdoor module. Thanks everybody for their suggestions

I took out the Insteon outlet, and replaced with a regular power outlet. If no problems then that was the culprit, if not will research further. Thanks all!
-
Yea, happened last night when it rained (but rain is not always the culprit)

Hi, I have a GFIC socket in my garage. Downstream from the GFIC the wire goes to an outside outlet box (since outside that is why I have it on a GFIC circuit) Inside that outside outlet I have for the socket an Insteon outlet (2663-222), and plugged into that Insteon outlet is a fountain, so I can remotely control the fountain. 99% of the time it woks fine, but about once every month or two the GFIC flips. So any thoughts? 1) It may or may not be the Insteon socket that is tripping the GFIC, not sure 2) Maybe the Insteon sockets are not rated for outdoors 2) OK to have an insteon socket downstream from a GFIC? 4) worst case I could replace the Insteon socket with a normal socket and use "Insteon Remote Control Plug-in On/Off Module Outdoor" Thanks in advance for any thoughts
