Upgraded to 5.x (went very well), added a MS II, but it does not seem to be acting the same way as the original MS. The old one would send a new ON command each time it was triggered, but the new one does not seem to. Hear's how I am using the old one, let me know some thought on how to duplicate it with the MS II Old set up for a garage lite Had MS to send ON only had the MS in a a scene to control a light had a program to turn off the light IF certain time was met AND a min remote switch was in the OFF potion I did it this way so that since it was in the scene the ON would be quick, but the OFF was determine by a program and the condition of a switch so that I could override the OFF because sometime if we are in the garage without much motion it would turn off. The program would continue to reset the timer since each time it received a new ON command it would start over. with the new MS does not seem to work so I assume that the new MS does not repeat ON commands each time it detects motion....or as very possibly, I am missing something Thanks Joe

Hi, I am about to upgrade to isy ver 5.x and so checking out all the prerequisites I noticedI have always been running Java 32 bit, even thought I am Windows 10 64 bit. Do I need to change the Java to 64 bit? does it make a difference? do I uninstall Java 32 first? Thx Joe

when I make changes to a device in a scene (like light level), I usually go then to each controller in the scene to hit the check box that says to copy changes from the scene. But in the scene setting there is a option to check "make changes to all devices" Does this mean it will make changes to all controllers in the scene>?..if so that would be great! I always assumed it meant change all the light levels to the recently set changes, which is never what I would want. Thx Joe

will this work if I am still on ver 4.x, without upgrading to beta ver 5.x?
-
thanks was just reading about those. if I install at the fixture and not at the switch, can I still use it in "latching mode" ie. sense the switch or do I need to set it a "without switch mode" since not near the actual switch? hope that makes sense

it seems the 2672-222 is not available anymore, so wondering if there is a simple solution for controlling a bulb in a non-insteon controlled lamp (without using a lamp module as this is a front porch light)

thanks I do not have any variables or unenabled programs, but I will make sure I have several hours free to do the debugging. Thnaks Joe

I am still on version 4.x, and wondering about the details to upgrade to 5.x. I see a caution on the 5.x beta release notes: "Upgrading from an ISY 4.x version to this version may require a lot of manual intervention including verifying scenes, programs and program settings are correct. The 5.x ISY firmware and the data files it uses has changed drastically from 4" but not sure exactly what that means to do. Is there an "upgrade detailed tutorial"? Thx Joe

Thanks. Is 5.x Riskey since in beta?

Just noticed the old motion sensors are not availbe anymore, and the new ones 2844-222 seem to have problems when I do a search on this site. are the problems fixed? do these work OK?
-
seems to be just a bad switch, at least the new dual band one did work right away, so problem solved, will keep a watch is it a "band-aide" withe the dual band or is it solid, but so far OK
-
all loads (lights) removed still will not update
-
will the fact that the new switches are dual band help? the arrival of the new switches is delayed due to the ones I got today are on-off, so returned them, wanted dimmers
-
no, LED lights still in did a factory reset then restore and when writing updates is still only goes halfway then sticks
-
Factory reset is pin pulled then held back in for 10sec correct. Did that and tried to restore but write function halted half way through
-
It is a nunber of LED lights

HI, Just curious if anyone has ideas. I have two toggle switches in garage that sit side by side. One of them decided to not be working so well. It always works locally, but not always in a program or remotely. I tired to restore it an the isy can never complete the "write". So I assume it is bad (as several years old), so replaced with another used one I had around and while isy can add it to the program it has the same problem of isy not being able to update it. Since these are old non-dual band units I ordered a new dual band paddle switch arriving today. I will install and see if that fixes the problem, but with this switch working for years and the second one (although also old) not working in the same way, I am thinking it may be another problem. Any thoughts?

Thnaks all. It seems that some of the remotelincs were not updated. They seemed to work fine so even though they had the green 101010 symbol I never bothered. fixed that and it seems to update now much faster. thanks Joe

I have had the isy for several years and added a fair number of Insteon devices. There are a few scenes but not so many However, when I make a change (something simple like changing the device on level in a scene) it takes many minutes to update. It seems like it goes off to make changes on almost every device. Yes, some of them are linked devices, so make sense. But despite the system not getting any more compex, the time to make these changes seems to have increased over the years. Now, the very simplest of changes is sometimes over 10 minutes. Does something need to be "clean out" like relinking some things? At a loss. Thx Joe

Made a new scene with both lights as responders as well as both of the keypads as responders and the remote link as a controller. Worked perfect! Not only did the remote link turn on both lights is that was supposed to both of the keypad keys could turn off the individual lights or I could turn them both off from the Remotelinc. Perfect! Thanks all

what I am trying to do is quite simple so sure there is another way: Scene #1 has a keypadlinc key A as a controller so when that scene is active ti will turn on a "garage light" and the keypad key A lights I want to create Scene #2: Scene #2 will have the "garage light" AND "Patio" light with a remote switch as the controller so when active I want it to also light the keypadlinc pad A so it will be lit and if I turn it off ti will also turn off the "garage light" Possibly as simple as having the KPL pad A as a responder in two different scenes?

Can you have Scenes within a new scene? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was only about 40 feet from the PLM as Michel, in another email, said it was only a function of being far from the PLM. however it was four rooms away and my walls are very well insulated from RF as I know because my Wi-Fi does not propagate very well. I put it in the outside garage bathroom and plugged a Lamplinc dual band right next to it and finally got it to work.
