I have a 8 button KPL, and button A controls a scene, but has stopped working. I have restored the device, pulled button A from the scene and reinserted , but is does not work. All the changes were recorded OK in the program, and all of the other buttons perform correctly. The A button will light as a responder if other controllers in the scene turn on that scene, but button A will not control anything. It has worked for years with no recent changes, and all of the functions seem to be OK, just the Button A. Happy to replace, but not sure if a KPL would fail in this way. any guidance, it is appreciated. should I just replace it?
  2. "- Your second program is curious to me...What happens if the sensor OFF command comes after dawn? Does the light stay on indefinitely? - are you concerned with denying yourself the ability to manually turn off the light if it were triggered on by the motion sensor. Given the approach you take, I assume you would have to first turn on one of your KPL buttons, then turn it off." yes, you are correct on the off command, I really do not need the dawn/dusk criteria, has not been a problem, but could be in a very narrow window yes, if the light is on from the sensor I can wait until time off or hit the kpl on then off, or hit off on a remote, works fine, no problem
  3. Techman thanks for the response. I do have an access point quite close to the Motion sensor, but thought maybe a range extender would be better so ordered a couple. Oberkc for the program, I only want the motion sensor timer off to turn the light of IF it has not been turned on by an KPL switch that turned on that light. so the program on/off comand is something like: IF receive motion on comand And time is between dusk and dawn the next day And the KPL A is off (a switch for a scene that has that light in it) AND kpl D is off (a switch for another scene that has that light in it) Then turn light on IF receive motion off command And time is between dusk and dawn the next day And the KPL A is off (a switch for a scene that has that light in it) AND kpl D is off (a switch for another scene that has that light in it) Then turn light off
  4. I have always had a little problem understanding the difference between "is on" status VS "turns on" control. For Example, I have a program that turns on a garage light for motion sensor, and it stays on until the motion sensor times out. There are a couple of conditions in the program: Is is between dusk and dawn, and if a KPL switch is off meaning I have not already tuned the same light via the KPL switch. This program has worked well for years with the condition "turns on", but recently was intermittent. so I replaced the motion sensor. Works half the time, so may be a communication issue, but I wanted to make sure I had the conditions correct. Should the program be for the light turn on be "if the motion sensor is on" or "when the motion sensor is turned on", like I said, I always had a bit of confusion in this area Thanks Joe

I have an ISY 994i pro, and it says it is field upgradeable to IR input, could someone tell me how I do this? Thx Joe
  6. OK, maybe now I generated a new cert by following the instructions again, but how do I tell? all seems to work OK before and after the cert creation
  7. OK I got the dashboard to work, but still confused how to get a new certificate
  8. i just upgraded from 99i to 994i and all went well. However, I apparently am supposed to upgrade or reinstall my security certificate (don't know much about that) so following the instruction is says to go to the dashboard and make some networks changes that I guess cannot be made from the normal interface. When I follow the link it want to download a file with a .jpnl extension to open the dashboard, however for some reason my Java program is not associated with JPNL extensions, and I cannot seem to figure out how. The normal interface works fine

I have an ISY 99 Pro and I want to upgrade to 994 pro. How do I do this, and what process do I go through once I get the new unit meaning do i have to do anything with the PLM or the programming. What are the exact steps to get up and running with the new device. Also, do I have to return the old device

Ok first of all let me admit I am an isy addict and LOVE the interface and how well it controls my whole house setup, so sorry to even bring up smartlinc. However, I also have a cabin up in the Sierra mountains with internet connection, but no where close to the needs of the power of an isy. so my question is to merely turn on a few lights remotely and maybe a insteon thermostat will the smartlinc solve my needs.... or will I be excessively disappointed that I did not just spend the extra money on a second isy??? Thx Joe

yes, that seems to be working, thanks

I was not using a state variable but an int variable as I was changing the value myself when it was Xmas or not Xmas to run the programs in the appropriate folder, but I will try a state variable and see if that works, as variables are all new to me
  13. Is it possible?
  14. jkraus posted a topic in ISY994
I wondered what post people do to set a condition for a folder of programs. I tried making the program folder conditional on the value of an integer, but when I changed the variable to the value to run The programs it did not run
  15. Thanks Much. This was Exactly the problem I started to have. I wonder if this is a new update to AVG as I never had an issue before. Howevre in my case it was 100% related LinkScanner i.e. if I turend it back on, no more access. Repeated it severl times and 100% in my case this was the issue
  16. I have always used Firefox as my browser to the isy, but today when I came home it said I needed to install Java. Strange, but I though maybe a new version of Firefox was installed and needed an updated Java. After installing the updated Java it no longer says I need to update the Java, but despite clearing the java cache it just keeps trying to load, but never completes. Anyone else having this problem, or just me? BTW IE still works fine
  17. the link does not seem to work today. Is the server down, or is it my system? just starts to download then hangs
  18. One solution is an X10 220v switch. I know, I know, why X10 when we all want to go insteon! Well, actually this is my very last X10 device for the same reasons that you said, no other real good insteon solution. The advantage of X10 in This case Is no Nuetral required which you very well may not have, and because it is on Both legs of your house circuit very reliable. I have been using it with isy for over two years and works without a flaw
  19. so we had a rain storm last night and this morning one of my outside lights come on randomly. If I push the keypad controller or remote link button to turn it off it works just fine, as do dim and brighten command, just like normal. However, after I shut it off a few minutes later it comes back on by itself. So just that I start looking in the right place, anybody have ideas or similar history? I first will look in the outside box that controls that light, but hate to waste time if anyone has any other suggestions. Thanks much Joe

not sure what you mean by trigger? Although, to make sure I understand the concept of run at upstart, wouldn't I check all programs to run at startup that are time dependent programs i.e have time as part of the if statement as I would want all those programs to be be in the correct mode depending on what time the reboot happened?
  21. jkraus posted a topic in ISY994
Hi, I simply want to understand the concept because it seems to me that all programs "run at startup" I have a water heater recirculating pump that is scheduled to run between 8am and 10:30 pm. I rebooted the Isy the other day and it seems that this program was not then running. So it the point of "run at startup" to evaluate the "IF" statement immediately when the "run at startup" box is checked? Is so why would anyone NOT want to have their program run at start-up jut need a bit of education here Thx Joe

never mind, I see the default gateway on my new router was different than my last. all OK now
  23. jkraus posted a topic in ISY994
seems this server to update my time does not work anymore. I did change my router not too long ago, could this be related? How should I fix it?
  24. Michel Thnaks for asking. All goes good now on the Remotelinc2 except key reversal (wierd) and the range is kind of disapointing(some spots in yard dont work while with remote linc 1 could even get from neighbors yard) but neither of these issues are belvied to be realted to isy, so thanks ! Joe
  25. OK, now with deleting and relinking it seems to work OK, althoguh yes I have the "reversed keys syndrome". easy to work around but certainly wierd I will add my second RL2 and see if it is the same. I suspect a bad lot as these were the very first off the line Joe
