So are you saying this is the workaround or have you guys come up with a way to do it with the non-load buttons?

I wonder if the load button can be moved around the keypad. I know when you put it into 8 button mode the load button change. Do we know if there is a a way to move the load button to the D button?

No problem, workarounds are cool with me. I know it's in good hands.

Buy timerLincs or should I use ISY triggers+timers?
Mark Sanctuary replied to Mark Sanctuary's topic in ISY994
Dude, all butts in! This is an open forum where all are welcome to toss in any and all ideas as long as we are all respecting each other. I agree with the idea of being indpendent to function but I still would like to be able to query the switch. I hope to have someday everything on the Insteon network so it is all "connected". So my thought is mostly leaning to the timerlinc switches so I get the best of both indpendence and query/control abilities. Besides this is a device that even though its timed should also be in the "All Off" sceen that we are all trying to figure out in the all-off thread. -
HAS I also can't get the "All Off" to work all the way either without doing tap-hold linking. I am looking forward to the trigger/scheduler functionality which I think is going to solve 99.9% of all the issues. I enjoy being early in on the ISY because all of us early guys get to help test and suggest the coolest features.

Michel, If I want to use the ISY to setup a “All On†or “All Offâ€; would this work? [*:2fz6czu5]Add all responder switch load(s) to your “All ***†scene. [*:2fz6czu5]Add controller keypad non-load LED button to your “All ***†scene. [*:2fz6czu5]Create synchronize button association with keypad non-load LED button to the keypad load button; by doing a drag-n-drop onto the “All ***†scene. I don't think this is correct; can you give the correct step by step for creating a “All On†or “All Off†scene? Thanks!

I have not used powerhome, I always used Houselinc, so all I could say is that sounds logical.
-
Back when smarthome launched the keypadlincs they said they would be doing a newer firmware version of the keypadlinc with all buttons acting as full Insteon nodes so they could act just like any other linkable node but I don't think they have ever release it.
-
Oh yeah...the trigger idea is what I am also playing with, thanks for the idea.

Well if you call Smarthome on the phone they will let you know that you can do a link between a non-load button and load button, but it has to be performed after you create the complete scene or it may not work. I will use the "A" button for the rest of the post but this can be done for any of the non-load buttons. It’s the typical hold the one of the "A" non-load button for 10 sec then hold the load button until it blinks the load. It can only be done locally from the keypadlinc. It has to be in non-toggle mode because the load only does what the LED is indicating for that button, so if the "A" LED is on the load will turn on and if the "A" LED is off on that button the load will turn off. Also the load-level will be the same for all "on" non-load buttons it is linked to so non-link buttons are only storing the link and not the level. Smarthome does not support it because it was never fully developed/tested so hence not documented, but they will instruct you over the phone if you ask enough. It is most likely somewhere in the Smarthome forum too. I think many users got it to work with some trial and error but your mileage may vary. Who knows maybe they have added it to the manual for the keypadlinc but I have not looked in a long time.

Got it...it is the feature that toggles the LED in sync with the load because the button never really takes a on status it’s always off. So if I want to do separate "All On" and "All Off" I will have to just use a trigger to get control of the load or use the undocumented keypadinc linking the load to the non-load button trick.

How does the Synchronized Buttons work? I have two buttons A and B on my keypadlinc that is "All On" and "All Off"; how do configure these buttons to synchronize this keypadlinc's load?

FYI: I noticed that my timers where not working after the update; I found out that it was because the custom lat/long did not stay set after the 2.3 upgrade. When you update the custom lat/long it starts working again.
-
Sweet! My Linksys BEFSR81 router works with the 2.3 update! Yippee!
-
WOW! You have been busy! Good job guys!
-
Ok no vote needed. If 2.4 can be the triggers/scheduling magic number then so be it. Thanks for all your hard work guys!
-
What I really mean is that you lock 2.4 as the triggers/scheduling release only. No other new features until 2.5 release because I think we all are waiting more for this than anything else.
-
That’s great news on the 2.3 release coming soon. I personally would like to get the triggers/scheduling soon, so do you think we should do a poll of everyone on if all new feature requests (except new bugs requests) should come after 2.4 so you guys can get the triggers/scheduling done in 2.4?
-
Do you have an update on the time and details of the 2.3 release?
-
And I think the guys (Michel and Chris) must have their nose to the grindstone to get 2.3 done by tomorrow because we have not heard from them in a while.
-
I have two bathroom fans and I was trying to decide if I just get some timerlinc switches or should I use the ISY triggers and timers? I think it would be best to get the timerlinc so I would have the functionality with or without the ISY but what do others think.
-
I think you have to do the last link (keypadlinc dimmer button to keypadlinc non-dimmer button) at the keypadlinc because the keypadlincs will get confused if they do the linking by Insteon command remotely. Also if I remember this is a feature of the keypadlincs that is sometimes buggy so you may have to fiddle with it to get to work. If memory is correct you want to do the dimmer keypadlinc linking after making the scene because it can get erased, or was it before linking the scene because it won't link correctly if the scene is already linked. This was stuff I read about a year ago on the smarthome forum. I have noticed that the backlight on the non-dimmer buttons is following their linked scenes now so this is causing my keypadlinc "all lights on" button to not work when the keypadlinc dimmer is off. When the keypadlinc dimmer light is turned back on then my keypadlinc "all lights on" button works again.
-
I don't think there is a way yet. Something like hold shift and select all the devices you want to drag. Then drag and drop them into the new scene to create it would be a nice feature.

Is the ISY resetting the button toggle mode for KeypadLinc buttons? I had them set to not toggle on/off but now after creating a scene with the ISY I they are back to toggling; well at least they’re togging off but not back on when pressed.
