Resolved Suggestion: Copy to clipboard on extra data folders
Mark Sanctuary posted a topic in ISY994
This is exactly what it gave me. The first two lines and all the carriage returns are not needed. Folder Conditions for 'Triggers' Add conditions to limit when programs in this folder are allowed to run. If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Allow the programs in this folder to run. -
The only thing I have kept that is X10 is the little Infrared X10 Command Console IR-543. I have tried to get it working with my universal remote to trigger my movie time scene but so far I have not gotten it to work at all. I am trying to get it to work with it directly connected to the PLM at this time and will update when I get it working or not. If Receive X10 House Code 'A' Unit Code '1' Command '11 - Off' Then Set Scene 'Family Movie Time' On

Looks like you found the answer but for the record; a three way circuit you should only have one scene that has all the devices in it as "controllers". Three Way Scene _____ Switch 1: Controller _____ Switch 2: Controller _____ Switch 3: Controller

To help answer question number two here is a quick example on how to do a vacation button program.
-
Here is two ways you can implement an away from home vacation button. Version 1: Create a "vacation folder" then set this program to the folder. If Control 'Vacation Button' is On Then Allow the programs in this folder to run. And in the rest of your "normal folders" that you don't want to run while on vacation set those folders with this program. If Control 'Vacation Button' is Off Then Allow the programs in this folder to run. This will give the least amount of code by only needing the programs to be in folders that will run when the button is on and when it is off. Version 2: Create a program call "On Vacation". If Control 'Vacation Button' is On To allow triggers to run during Vacation; us this as one of your tests. If Program 'On Vacation' is True To prevent triggers from running during Vacation; use this as one of your tests. If Program 'On Vacation' is False Any programs that do not have one of the above tests will effectively ignore the Vacation Button. Toggling the LED: To control the LED you can: Create a scene and add the KPL "Vacation Button" button to it as a responder, Then you can then turn that scene on/off using ISY Programs, thereby turning on/off the KPL button/backlight. This however does not count as a button press.

Good idea, I suggested this a while back. The guys asked me to suggest the commands to do this to. I guess I should get that list together.
-
Could a hover bubble noting this above statement be added to the "If" text so users could remember its function. Personally I can't remember ever learning about it in all the classes I took so it may be remote concept to most people.
-
Could not sleep so why not check the forum... If the slider has some function then we don't want to remove the ability to control it. But somehow can it be conveyed visually to the user what the real function is. With the sliders in the list one would think when seeing the slider there, "oh I can set the lighting level for the load dimmer in my scene". Maybe a "local" icon (not sure what a local icon would look like) next to the slider with hover bubble text. What are local keypadlinc settings? Is the local settings the one default on load level that all the non-load buttons share? How do you make the non-load buttons function if they don't send scene commands? Isn't everything that is linked to a non-load button a scene even if it's just one link?
-
Thanks for calling me Michel and discussing the keypadlinc and that it will never be able to have multiple levels saved to the buttons. The design of the keypadlinc will not ever make it possible. The idea you gave me to work around it are good. I am considering the idea of adding a INSTEON In-LineLinc Dimmer added to the junction box in the attic and take the keypadlinc dimmer out of the loop completely which removes all the confusion of the keypadlinc device. Please consider the idea I suggested that the sliders for the keypadlinc “load†be disabled (grey out) when they are in a scene with one of the “non-load†buttons since a user can't really adjust them anyways. It is important they are at least there visually so you know you have added them to the scene.
-
Good catch, I second that!
-
Very nice! Please in the ISY "Program Details" area can you right click on your program icon and "copy to clipboard" and paste the program(s) here so we can see the code?
-
I think I thru the box away. Its alright it was only $50.
-
I have noticed that the X10 signals are not getting to the ISY for me either. Comunication issue is what I am thinking but not sure what it is yet.
-
Darn I just replaced my wireless with the linksys router I suggested above and I only have an issue with the signal strength. I get 65% signal strength in the family room with the router in our bedroom closet mounting up high on the wall.
-
I think this is what I am trying to do (set different load levels for each a,b,c,d button on the same keypadlinc), but that is what I thought the workaround the ISY had implemented was intended to handle. Forgive me if I have gotten this wrong, it has been a while since 2.3 and my memory could have gotten tangled up. I am trying to set the level to 60% on the KPL load in the scene that is linked to KPL button (A). And I am trying to set the level to 20% on the KPL load in the scene that is linked to KPL button (. The load is wired to the eight main can lights in our family room which I want to be able to have button (A) at 60% for family time and button ( at 20% for movie time. If that is the case that it's a bug I would love to have this capability fixed. If it is not a possible fix then the sliders should not be removed, but should be disabled in the scene, so we can see that the load is included in the scene, but they don't tease/tempt me to want to try and use them then. Overall I really would like to find the solution to this very sad keypadlinc shortcoming (caused by Smarthome's shortsightedness) thru a workaround in the ISY mainsail code or thru a little ISY program.
-
Darn, that did not fix it. 1. I removed all the keypadlinc links. 2. I removed the keypadlincs from the ISY. 3. I restored all the devices left to make sure they where all updated - (first time in a long time that restore devices did not give me an error) 4. Made a backup without the keypadlincs. 5. Factory reset the keypadlincs. 6. Tap added the keypadlincs back into the ISY. 7. Adding the keypadlincs a,b,c,d and load buttons to their scenes. 8. Tried to set the levels on the load for some of the scenes. The snaping of the levels is still happening.
-
Sounds good; no worries I am always up to a challenge. I will have to do the remove because I only keep the latest backup. I guess I should be keeping at lease one backup generation back. I think I have seen these issues for a long time, maybe all the way back to when the keypadlinc all off code in firmware 2.3 came out. I am excited to get this working correctly. I will let you know the outcome.

I want to apologize if I am not conveying the issue well thru typing, it makes since to me on this side of the keyboard. I will create a step by step walkthrough of the issue I am seeing. 1. I start by finding my “all†scene which has my keypadlinc load in it. You can see here that I have the “Family Main (KP load)†and the “Family Main (KP D)†both in this scene. There is also another keypadlinc in this “all†scene too but I only need to demonstrate just with one of them because they all do this behavior. 2. Next I go into the scene by selecting the scene title. There I can see my sliders and, ah yes, the keypadlinc load is snapped to 100% while all the rest of the scene is still set at 50%. 3. So let’s fix the keypadlinc load to match the rest of the devices that are at 50% already. Now I have changed the main scene settings right, you would think. 4. At this point I would normally copy this to all the other “controllers†in the scene so all of them have the same scene settings, but wait, this is the first point where I can demonstrate the issue. I click on another scene, any scene, it does not mater. Then I click back on my “all†scene and this is what I see, the slider has popped back to its 100%. (((mumbles some words that no ears should here))) So if I do try this by clicking on the “Family Main (KP D)†and try to set the level it behaves the same there too. After doing these steps if I try the keypadlinc (D) physical button nothing has changed, it still uses its default level to match the on of the LED button. So doc what do you think is wrong with the patient?

Resolved Suggestion: Exported Programs file be formated
Mark Sanctuary replied to Mark Sanctuary's topic in ISY994
I did not try word, ok it works. Please no binary, user data should be viewable if all possible. I dislike binary data files. -
Universal Devices Wiki ISY-26 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Lat-Long.com is not to bad of a way to get your city lat long. Just go to the site and type in your city and pick one of the listed items that is closest to you. Yep just add it to any network you have and update it, or manually download the update and save it to a disk and load it up with another computer. The support page has the downloadable file. You can setup a ISY program to watch a "vacation button" on your keypadlinc. I am going to defer to let someone that has done this one help you. Yes! The ISY makes it possible for the LED to follow single or multiple device scenes. The ISY has made the keypadlincs have the functionality they should have been built with in the first place. The early adopters (like me and others) have been hard helping them get good keypadlinc functionality working. Now remember the keypadlinc is a funny little device (I am being PC because I would like to call it some other names) so sometimes it can be difficult, but with the ISY there is the ability to easily reset devices and restore their programming from the ISY. So there are lots for the keypadlinc. My personal favorite is the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router (WRT54G) which goes for $50 regularly and on sale for less. Best buy, Office stores, Walmart, Amazon, etc are all good places to find one. Yeah the ISY password protection will keep others out. You would have to get a network bridge device to connect the ISY wirelessly and in that bridge you would setup you encryption so it has no affect on the ISY.

The exported programs file is just one long string which is not so fun to read. It would be nice if the file had indenting and carriage returns to break up each line.

Confirmed it’s in 2.4.9 - INSTEON address is now shown on the Device View next to Device Type - Now, the same on level and ramp rate can be applied to all the devices within a scene - Clicking on 'New Folder', now uses 'New Folder' as default name instead of 'New Program'. - 'My Lighting' now included in drop down lists - Fix for non-toggle buttons. An event occurs whenever a button is pressed (i.e. not just when the current value of the button changes) - Node combo boxes widened to accommodate long names - Copy readable contents of program to clipboard - Copy program - Program tree has popup menu - Fix for null references to programs and nodes within a program - Fix for intermittent save/delete program errors (I am now able to edit migrated programs and save them so I am guessing that this is the fix for that.) Not sure about - Configuration fix for Relay devices; now allows Fast On/Off etc. (I built a program for my switch which I know is relay driven and still no Fast On/Fast Off. Plus shouldn’t Fast On/Off buttons show up in the "relay device view" too?) Not tested - Schedule migration no longer turns lights Off instead of On - Fix for box hanging when deleting all contents of a folder and the folder itself - Fixed not being able to change the userid/password - Removing devices from a scene, left residue and in some cases the device would still respond to commands from the scene it previously belonged to

Resolved Bug: Save Changes closes program folders

It is now tested and resolved. -
When I add or edit a line in the If statement the space between the "node" and the "is" gets removed. I pasted the program that I noticed it in. If Status 'Guest Bath Main'is On Or Status 'Guest Bath Tub'is On Then Wait 1 hour Set Scene 'Guest Bath Scene' Off Finally - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
