Well looks like I am not able to see the new gui. All I get is the old gui with the url login and with the my network places login I get the stuttering. So I fould a bug.

So I logged in today to see what was new and low and behold there was 2.5 waiting for me to upgrade to. I did my backup, downloaded the file, and did the install all very easily. Then I tried to login to my ISY...I could but it would ask for user/password over and over again. Finally I hit cancel on the password box several times and it quit. I could look over my setup and there were 5 duplicates of everything; devices and scene entries. I tried a cold rebooting the ISY and still had the same thing. Then I sat back and thought for a moment, and decided to try logging in another route. I was using the icon in "My Network Places" so instead I used the website link and I was able to get logged in that way just fine.

Yeah I experienced this too that a restore seems to fix the devices that don't show the status on the ISY. The ISY should have a single link to each device so it gets its confirmation message back when the switch is used. Might be the link the ISY has with the device is somehow messed up. And some of my dimmers (I think it’s mostly the keypadlinc loads) still just report on/off and not the level percentage. I must have some really old devices; most of mine report v.27, v.28, v.29 or are you guys adding decimal points in between digits? Or are you reading a sticker on the back of the device?

Kind of quite the last few days so to break the silence I thougth I would ask, "how are things going on the new pending release?"
-
I am looking forward to this release because I am having a hard time finding new bugs to report and need some new features to fiddle with. Just curious how much of the new stuff do you guys have working now?
-
What does Lutron have a paten on “answering back†part?
-
I think the query is just a checkup of all the devices...what all its checking I don't know.

Man "Out of Stock" again! It seems like Smarthome just can't keep these things (ISY-26) in stock, they are selling like hotcakes.
-
Yes this feature is working great for me as well. Good job guys.

Is it fully dead or just locked up...pewer cycle it to make sure. If you need replacement Michel will help you in this forum or call UD at 818-631-0333.

On a local computer there are almost unlimited space resources to write driver code for the current ISY protocols that already exist. So I would think with the ISY having small resources it would be better to create the driver framework that would be on the user's local computer than trying to add more code on the ISY. This way the ISY can grow with adding much more devices support for it to control, and new web interface features for its administration console. Gosh the xAP team might be able to add some "handshake" code to connect thru the existing callbacks the ISY already has. Just my 2¢ If anything take Michael up on doing the conference call he will go the extra mile to help you figure out what can be done.

Good job guys this release is got some cool stuff in it.

I think the ISY is event driven so virtual devices would just be another event in the loop. But would virtural devices be needed after the new timer system is completed?
-
Oh I did not know about the "My Lighting" trick. Thanks Michel.

You have to create a group with "all" devices in it. I start with all the ones that will be responders then add any controller devices last. I have not gotten home from work yet to test the 2.4 release with the new keypadlinc workaround that the release notes mention, but from I understand you now just drag the main load as a responder and the non-load as a controller onto the all lights group accordingly. After you have created the all group then you can create a scheduled task to this new group. Last you will want to make that a non-toggle button with the LED off. This will make it only function as an "all off" button.

Ok sometimes I wonder about myself; I see the main page has an email to request a new account.
-
Michel, I would like to get a new Wiki account so I can start helping edit the documentation but it looks like new users creation area is not accessible...can we create Wiki accounts yet?
-
Gosh I should have looked there first, cool thanks!
-
Michel, Ok now that the workaround is in place with 2.4 installed what is the details for it... How does it work? What do we do to set it up? What are the gotchas?

With the faceless dimmers, the hard part is they don't slide in the spot above the fan where the black-box goes, or do they? Or are you suggesting cracking one of these guys open and adding a Intseon modem chip in. -

Mark Sanctuary replied to Mark Sanctuary's topic in ISY994
All my fans don't have the speed chain they use one of those black boxes that goes up between the ceiling mount and the wall switch controls the black boxes. I wish someone would make an Insteon fan black-box. It is basically two nodes in the black-box; one lighting dimmer and one three-step relay switch. You could use a keypadlinc to control it in six button mode which would allow the on/off be the lighting control and the four buttons could be the off/low/med/high for the fan relay. -
So do dimmers work well for ceiling fans?

With the All On and All Off idea being used by many users and not all of them wanting to use the load buttons; I think that the in code solution, though unconventional, will be used by many so it will be well worth the effort.
