1) The Polisy can control some AV gear but not all. See the list of Node Servers here: https://forum.universal-devices.com/forum/221-polyglot-v3-node-servers-pg3/ I believe there also may be alternatives to your Harmony Hub if it should stop working. I did a quick search on Amazon and found this, for example: https://smile.amazon.com/BroadLink-RM4-pro-Cable-WiFi-Automation/dp/B0872P4HX7/ref=sr_1_4 Don't know if that's a good one or not - there are more to choose from. The point is your Harmony Hub can most likely be replaced with something if Policy does not have a Node Server for your particular device. Alexa can also control some AV gear, by the way. 2) Most PLMs that stop working can be fixed. There are references to that all over this board. There's a guy on Ebay that fixes them for less than $100.

I don't want to complicate this, but I run something similar when we are done watching TV for the night. In our family room we way 'Alexa, Turn Off The TV'. It's an Alexa routine that executes two actions: 1) Turns off my TV and associated gear every time. My Harmony Hub takes care of that. 2) Runs the following ISY program for lights and thermostat control: If From Sunset To Sunrise (next day) Then Set 'Fireplace Lights' On Set 'Speaker Lights' Off Set 'Fan' Off Set 'Fan Light' Off Set 'Kasa Controller / Mantle' Off Set 'Kasa Controller / Kitchen Counter Light 1' On Set 'Ecobee - Family Room' to Sleep, Hold Type Hold Next Wait 10 seconds Set 'Ecobee - Living Room' to Sleep, Hold Type Hold Next Wait 10 seconds Set 'Ecobee - Bedroom' to Sleep, Hold Type Hold Next Wait 10 minutes Set 'Fireplace Lights' Off Set 'Kasa Controller / Kitchen Counter Light 1' Off Else Set 'Fan' Off Set 'Speaker Lights' Off Set 'Fireplace Lights' Off Set 'Fan Light' Off Set 'Kasa Controller / Mantle' Off The differences between the 'night' and 'day' actions are: The thermostats are not altered during the day, and the Kitchen Counter Light is not turned on during the day because we don't need it to light the way to the bedroom during the day. The wait 10 seconds to change the thermostat settings was added because they weren't all getting the 'signal' until I added that. The wait 10 minutes on the two lights is there in case we forget to turn them off on the way to the bedroom. You might be able to pull elements (ideas) from this program to do what you are trying to do. Substitute your outside lights where I have my thermostats and/or Kitchen Counter Light.

1) Depends on what you are trying to control. One thing is for certain - a Polisy can control a Harmony Hub. 2) If it happens - here is where you want to keep your eyes peeled.

Yes.

Guessing here a little, isn't it your programs you want backed up? If so, you should back up your ISY. If you have to 'reconnect' to PG2 coming from a different server (Polisy instead of an RPi), just be sure to put each Node server on the same node. That's what I did and it worked fine. I checked each program that looks at a node, and I had to make very few changes if I recall correctly.

Thank you.

Can you provide a link to the ones you are using? A search for 'zigbee shades' turns up a zillion (well, almost a zillion) responses.
-
The second link in the second post here will show you how to fix the issue. Did you read that? EDIT: Actually - read the info at both of those links. Before I bought my Policy, I installed PG2 on an RPi and had the same problem until I found those posts.

I'll answer to the best of my knowledge... [[The Raspberry pi is a small stand alone computer used as a server?]] Yes. It can be used as a server and also used for many other things - your knowledge and imagination is all that is required. There is plenty of help online. I have two, one runs as a Plex server and the other runs Homebridge. https://www.raspberrypi.com/ *** [[You still have to upload a software package (eg home assistant)]] Yes, and HA is free and open source. https://www.home-assistant.io/ *** [[link to your insteon network somehow (PLM?)]] There may be some confusion here. This discusion centers around using an RPi to 'save' an Insteon Hub - one that has not been factory reset. HA on the RPi will 'read' and/or control the Hub (the reason you do not want to 'wipe' your Hub). The Hub has a built in PLM, so no PLM is necessary to do this. I do not believe it is possible to connect a PLM to an RPi to control Insteon devices. *** Does the Polisy come with software already loaded, or is it a completely stand alone firmware package? Yes. It will run the ISY software (like the Hub only much, much better) as well as run PG2 (depreciated) and the newer PG3 to provide Node Server service for you. There are currently 75 Node servers and that number is growing all the time. The Node Servers allow you to run and control different systems, not just Insteon - almost making the Polisy a universal controller. See the current list here: https://forum.universal-devices.com/forum/221-polyglot-v3-node-servers-pg3/ *** [[Is Polisy going to be as slow as Pi/HA]] No. (I'm running as Policy Pro, by the way.) *** [[I disconnected my Insteon (dead) hub from my network, but see that previously programmed on/off schedules are still working! Is this on/off programming imbedded in the individual dimmer firmware?]] Pretty much, yes. One of the great things about most Insteon devices. *** EDIT - Just checked - now there are 78 Node Servers!

Actually, I'm not overly familiar with HA. I only know what it can do from reading about it, however I've never actually deployed it. You reacted to my post here: https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/35746-insteon-hub-2245-cloud-servers-shut-down/?do=findComment&comment=334365 In that post I said I'm not running HA - I only talked about the benefits of using HA on an RPi for those who have not factory reset their Hubs. I don't know why you would need to run HA if you have a Polisy - there are 75 Node servers and counting. I suppose you would need HA as a bridge if you have a device to control that doesn't have a Node server in PG3, but other than that I see no benefit if you have a Polisy.

Sounds like a convention I would go to once a year... ?
-
That's all it does? (I don't have it installed) If so, guess that won't help you on a Policy.
-
Exactly what we do (a program dims and brightens the lights when turning on/off the AV equipment), except for overriding lighting or drapes - that we do with voice. By the way - you can add Universal Devices / ISYxxx as a device in your 'My Harmony' app.
-
Well, at least it's matching Insteon's Cloud... ?

IoP behavior change for keypad status trigger evaluation?
Athlon replied to AKAPADIA's topic in IoX Support
Rather than 'Status', try 'if Master Bed Light.D is switched On'. -
Sounds like I have a similar setup. When I moved to Policy when my ISY was fried by a lightning strike I started using an Alexa device to control the lights in my home theater room - when said lights need to be changed outside of the ISY program I created. So, I still use the Harmony Hub in there (have the Node Server for that). We tell Alexa to 'turn on the TV' (or 'turn off the TV) and it executes an ISY program. Depending on the time of day that program (besides turning on my AV equipment) will adjust the lights and drapes in the room. If we want to 'override' the program, we'll issue a spoken 'turn on the speaker lights' or 'turn on the fan light' for example. At first I missed the hard buttons on my Elite for the lights and fan, but now I no longer do. YMMV.

He must be getting hammered. This is stuff for a 10 part Netflix mini documentary. (Would be funny if they made it, then pulled the plug on it.)

You 'da Man! Thank you!!

First thing you might want to consider is asking these questions in the correct area on this forum (Mobillinc section and the New User - Start Here section). You'll get much better/quicker responses doing that. This section is about the dead Hub. UDI has their own app now, by the way.
-
People say that all the time - but it doesn't always release them from harming someone. (Harm can have many definitions, by the way.) If you bought it for $200 and it burst into flames a week after you plugged it in and your drapes caught fire, my guess is you would not do nothing. Having said that, the odds that would happen have to be extremely low.

I didn't know that version # bug was a thing. Log PM'd.

Two of my programs are not communicating with IFTTT. It may have started when I upgraded to 3.0.3 on Saturday. Two things I've noticed: 1) When I restart the Node server it says 'Current Version: 3.0.3 [Production]' for about one second, then changes to 'Current Version: 3.0.0 [Production]'. So, right now it's saying 3.0.0 2) This error in the log over and over: 2022-04-18 08:43:53,966 Command udi_interface.node ERROR node:runCmd: command DOFF not defined 2022-04-18 08:48:54,404 Command udi_interface.node ERROR node:runCmd: command DOFF not defined I have 4 programs running in ISY using this node server, 2 of them turn on my A/C units, and 2 of them off (upstairs/downstairs). What's strange is they turn on when they are supposed to, but they no longer turn off. Even when I run the 'Then' part of the program they don't fire the webhook at IFTTT. Also - the history of the 'Turn Off' applets at IFTTT ends on Saturday - right about the time I restarted the node server to do the upgrade. The 'Turn On' applets show activity even today. (I manually turned off the A/C.) By the way, these A/C units are mini-splits (inverters), so I'm trying to use them to augment my oil heat to save on these crazy high oil prices.

No. Among other things - it's their proprietary software. You'd have to at least purchase the rights to do that. It would be easier to use Home Assistant - and that would sort of be like your own server.
-
Did a quick search here - came up with this: You may want to start a new thread in the appropriate section and ask for help in diagnosing your issue just in case it's not your PLM. Be sure to list your equipment along with your current firmware in your first post.

Maybe it's beginning to get some attention. (Never heard of this person.) https://staceyoniot.com/insteon-is-down-and-may-not-be-coming-back/ Can't wait to see all the misinformation we'll be seeing.
