jam10 Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Yesterday's Java update went OK on my Mac (OS 10.8.2), but I can no longer log into my ISY99i. I cleared the Java file after the latest update, but when I log into my ISY99i I het "404 Not Found." I downloaded the admin jnlp but get "unable to create shortcut for 99i admin console." I also downloaded dashboard jnlp, but get "unable to crete shortcut for Orchestrator Dashboard." Not sure what is going on, but all was working OK prior to yesterday's Java update. My ISY and PLM are working ok because I can control everything from my iPad or iPhone using the MobilLinc app. Any suggestions? Thanks. James
Michel Kohanim Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Hi James, I think we have already closed this ticket. Please do let us know if you are still having this issue. With kind regards, Michel

Apple very nicely changed the default action for opening .jnlp files. For me, they wanted to open with my text editor. Cute. I always wondered what was in that file... Anyway, simply do a Get Info on the admin.jnlp file (Cmd-I) and change Open With to Java Webstart. Select change all. That should fix it. HTH -Xathros
jam10 Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 Nope, still can't open the JNLP app on my desktop. And it is set to open with Jave Webstart. "Starting Application" "Unable to create shortcut for 99i Administrative Console" Very strange since all was working OK a few days ago.
Xathros Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Very strange. Unable to create shortcut happends after the applet is downloaded to java cache and verified. It should just launch into the console after you click OK on that message. What URL are you using to access the console ? -Xathros

Michel Kohanim Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Hi James, Please try http://isy.universal-devices.com/99i/admin.jnlp ... There seems to be an issue with Java/MAC supporting .png image files. With kind regards, Michel
Xathros Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Clear your java cache (All 3 check boxes!). Then try http:///admin/admin.jnlp Remember to substiture your ISY's IP address. You will want to save this file somewhere (Desktop or Applications folder) Double click the file you just downloaded. It will download the applet to cache and then you WILL get the "Cannot create shortcut" message. Click OK and the ISY finder and Console should come up. -Xathros
jam10 Posted February 26, 2013 Author Posted February 26, 2013 Thanks Xathros; it worked! I assume I can also use this to access my ISY when I am outside the home by replacing http with https. Very strange how these bugs occur all of a sudden. I am still debating whether or not to completely remove Java (and Flash) from my Macs. I can live without Flash, but not sure about Java despite all its security flaws. Thanks ago for helping me troubleshoot this issue.
Xathros Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Excellent! And as always, Happy to help. Yes - sorta. https will do the trick assuming you have either enabled Internet access in the ISY or set up the proper port forwarding in your router but the IP address will need to be your external IP assigned by your ISP. Visit http://www.whatismyip.com to find your external IP address. It should also be available in your routers admin console if you know where to look. I wouldn't remove Java if you want to access the admin console since it is 100% dependent on the Java VM. -Xathros
