suggestions for accessing my ISY from iphone / ipad

I used to use the app called AtHome but when I upgraded to 994, the AtHome app doesn't work any more. I would guess that it will get updated at some point in the future, but in the meantime are there suggestions as to which app to use? I saw some apps that cost $50 or so and this seems ridiculous.

Any suggestions as to how I can run programs from an iphone or ipad without spending a small fortune (until AtHome gets fixed)?

I'd like to confirm that it works with 994 and works when on the network but also when on cellular or outside network.

Yes, it works with the 994 (that's what I use it with) and on cellular and external you need to do one of 2 things:

1) Configure your NAT router at home to port forward he SSL port to your ISY (only works if your ISP does not block you from running a 'server' at home, as some do)

Or

2) Subscribe to MobiLinc Connect

Even if the ISP does block port 80 and port 443 you could just change the setting in the ISY to use a different port number. Is there another way how an ISP can block you from running a server?

Both MobiLinc Pro ($20) and MobiLinc HD ($50) will do programs. The two are essentially the same-- the difference is that HD is the universal version. Pro is iPhone-only and runs in 2x mode on the ipad.

I have to question the statement made by the OP that AtHome works with the 99i but not the 994. I didn't think there were any differences between the 99i and the 994 that would prevent something like that from working. I know the 994 is capable of more than the 99 but from what I've seen, anything that works on a 99 will work just fine on a 994. I would have to guess that there were port or IP address changes when the 994 was installed and AtHome needs to be reconfigured to match.

All of that said, Mobilinc in my opinion is the best choice.

Yes - but it does not happen very often. Two possible ways in fact.

They can block any TCP packet heading to your router with 'SYN' set and 'ACK' not set. It would stop your server from working no matter what port it was listening on (breaks the 3 way TCP handshake - only in one direction).

The other way is if your ISP does not give you a real IP - and NATs you to the Internet. This is starting to happen more and more now that the IPv4 pool is nearing exhaustion.

Hi Xathros,

It's quite possible since we removed UPnP subscription from ISY in 3.3.10. Everyone on the Developer's list was notified but apparently not AtHome.

I think that's the crux of the problem.

With kind regards,

Michel

Gotcha! I was looking at it from a 99 vs 994 perspective not an old firmware vs new firmware perspective. Thanks!
