Insteon Thermostat calibration?

Hi all!

I recently installed the Insteon thermostat and quickly realized that the Insteon tstat shows about 3 degrees warmer in temperature than my original digital thermostat. Unfortunately, I do not have a third tstat to determine which one is accurate but in the winter, the old tstat seemed comfortable when set at 67 where if we had the Insteon tstat installed, we would have needed 70? to be comfortable.

My questions are:

Is this a common issue with the Insteon Thermostat?

Can the stat be calibrated to read correctly?

Thank you!

Jerry

The thermostat User Guide describes the process of calibration of temp and humidity.

Ah I must have overlooked it. I will check it out again. Thanks LeeG!

Something was wrong with the link. I am trying again.

hbsh01,

It seems like we are in the same boat. Were you ever able to resolve the problem?

I just put it aside & haven't tried to do anything again since then.

It's interesting that there are a lot of discussions going on about a lot of issues with those thermostats, but almost nobody is mentioning this problem, while I had it with two of them.

The thermostat has an Offset for temp and an Offset for Humidity. From the posts of folks who have looked at the Offset values some thermostats are being received with the Offset values set. The assumption is these are from testing before the units are shipped. Just as devices arrive with link records in the link database.

Those who have posted back results have indicated once the Offsets were reset or adjusted the temp reading is correct.

Hi Lee,

Is adjusting the offset the same thing as calibrating or is it something else? I hadn't touched it for nine months so I don't remember exactly what I did. But I do remember that I followed the instructions in the manual to calibrate it and it was still off. Also the number of degrees it was off by was inconsistent, not like it would always be 2 degrees higher for example.

Sorry, yes calibration is setting the Offset. Excerpt from the user guide

Temperature Calibration

The top left number (77 in example) is the current reading according to the temperature sensor.

The top right number (14 in example) is the current offset (represents 1.4).

These numbers can change while this screen is displayed even though the primary temperature

does not change. They are floating point calculations.
