ISY - mail server failure

Featured Replies

Posted

I recently started getting "mail server failure " errors when I try to send an email notification from my 994.

My mail server (Powweb) doesn't appear to have any issues and I'm able to send emails through other devices using the Powweb server.

Everything was working fine a few days ago. As far as I know nothing has been changed.

If I use the default mail server setting on the 994 it seems to work OK.

The following is from the event log after I try to send a test email using my mail server

Sat 09/21/2013 03:25:34 PM : [FileOpen ] Open failed for [/CONF/ELEC.CFG]®

Sat 09/21/2013 03:25:39 PM : [FileOpen ] Open failed for [/CONF/ELK.CNF] ®

Sat 09/21/2013 03:25:43 PM : [FileOpen ] Open failed for [/CONF/ELK.CNF] ®

It appears that I may have a damaged ISY config file but I'm not sure how to address the issue.

Hi Techman,

Those error messages are completely benign and have nothing to do with email/notifications. The only entries that have anything to do with email/notifications are those starting with -5000x:

http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index ... MTP_Errors

If you do not see any errors then either the program is NOT running (perhaps the body and/or subject are evaluating to NULL) or the emails are ending up in your junkmail.

With kind regards,

Michel

Hi Michel

When I send a test email using the default mail server the email is successful

When I try to send a test using any other email server settings I get a pop up box error messages.

The first time I send a test email the error is the DHCP error, the second time is the Mail Server Failure error.

I've tried rebooting all the devices to no avail. Everything was working fine up until a few days ago

I've tried two different mail servers, from different ISP's, and I still get the same error messages.

Hi Michel,

I played around with it and it now seems to be working. I increased the timeout and changed the data in the from field.

Not sure why it stopped working a few days ago, but it seems to be OK for now. Thank you.

UPDATE

It looks like I spoke too soon. The email notifications stopped working again. Nothing was changed between the time it was working and now. The error message now shows the "To Timed out". I tried changing the recipient address but that didn't resolve the problem. Is it possible I have something corrupted in a config file?
